Panaji; Oct 21, 2014 … The Governor of Goa Smt. Mridula Sinha in the very auspicious occasion of Diwali has extended her greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa.

The Governor in her message says Diwali is a traditional religious occasion celebrated by the people of India with great enthusiasm, spirit and joy. It is the festival of lights. The Governor further says Diwali spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil and hope over despair. I would like to say that festivals like Diwali have a greater role to play in our national life. India is a country having different religions, regions and languages. The celebrations of the seasonal, cultural, religious and spiritual occasions should help in greater social solidarity and national integration. Goa continues to maintain its traditional social peace and spiritual solidarity.
