Panaji: October 26,2017… The Minister for Water Resources Shri Vinod Palyenkar visited the Department of Legal Metrology at Porvorim yesterday. This was the maiden visit of Shri Palyenkar to the Department of Legal Metrology after holding the portfolio of Legal Metrology.
During his visit to the office Shri Paklyenkar acquainted himself about the functioning of office.
Shri Palyenkar held a meeting with the officers and staff members about the working and the activities of the Department. Shri Prasad S. Shirodkar, Asst. Controller Legal Metrology, Mapusa gave power point presentation about the functioning of the office.
Shri Kiran Kossambe , Controller Legal Metrology informed the Minister that the cases booked during the year 2015-16 are 282 and number of cases compounded under PC rules are 237. The Compounding fees collected is Rs.11,09000 Whereas the verification fees collected is Rs8,767,3009 and other fees collected is Rs. 6002 etc.
Thereafter Shri Palyenkar directed the concerned authorities to keep vigil on illegalities as regards to weights and measures shops and other establishments.
Shri Goving Jaiswal IAS Secretary Legal Metrology accompanied the Minister during his visit to the Department.
