Panaji, July 03, 2019 …. The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant asked the people entering into Government service to be sincere and have a humanitarian approach when dealing with the public. Dr Sawant was speaking at the function where letters of appointment of candidates to Government service on Compassionate ground were distributed to beneficiaries at the Secretariat, recently. Also present was MLA, Shri Prasad Gaonkar.
Dr Sawant said, “When you join Government service, you have to be the ‘sevak’ of the people.” The Chief Minister asked the beneficiaries to look after the dependents of those on whose behalf they have got the Government job. Dr Sawant said, “If we receive any complaint, we will take strict action against those who do not look after their dependents because the reason why you are getting this job is on Compassionate ground, wherein the family has lost its breadwinner, who was a Government servant.”
Dr Sawant concluded by asking the beneficiaries to constantly upgrade their skills, as this will increase efficiency in the job.
A total of 74 beneficiaries were given the letters of appointment. The objective of the Scheme for compassionate appointment is to grant appointment on compassionate grounds to a dependent family member of a Government servant who has died while in service or who is retired on medical grounds before attaining the prescribed age, thereby leaving the family without any means of sustainable livelihood.
