Panaji: February 3, 2016 …. Governor of Goa, Dr(Smt) Mridula Sinha has said that women have attained to great height in the once male dominated society in almost every sector of the society. Women have the talent in them, which needs to be tapped and guided in the right direction, she added.
Speaking at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Mahila Mandal Margao at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, yesterday, Dr. Sinha asserted that women perform different roles according to situation that needs to be appreciated. Dr. Sinha appealed to all such institutions to supplement the government efforts to ameliorate the sufferings of the weaker and the downtrodden sections.
Complimenting the Mahila Mandal Margao for completing 75 years of its existence including the members associated with it, the Governor said to keep an organisation vibrant with activities especially for the welfare of the people is of great significance. Example set by this institution is not only commendable but needs to be followed by institutions across the State, she remarked.
Shri Dayanand Mandrekar, Minister for Art & Culture speaking on the occasion urged the Mandal undertaking various activities to market their products by creating the required advertisement of the same in all available means.
Complimenting the Institution for completing 75 years of its formation, Shri Mandrekar said the show of strength of women by this Mandal will go a long way to set an example for others to follow.
The founding members and past Presidents of the Institution were also presented a token of appreciation at the hands of the Dr. Sinha. Platinum Jubilee Souvenir was also released at the hands of the Governor on the occasion.
Shri Mandrekar and Shri Naik also presented token of appreciation to the staff and well-wishers of the Institution.
Shri Damodar Naik, Chairman, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao also spoke on the occasion. Smt. Babita Prabhudessai, Chairperson, MMC was also present on the occasion.
Smt. Devballa S. Bhise, President welcomed and gave a brief of the various activities being undertaken for the welfare of the society by the Institution. Smt. Shilpa Naik, Vice President gave the vote of thanks.
