05/11/2015 … Union surface transport minister Nitin Gadkari would lay the foundation stone for the six-lane Zuari bridge on December 19 on the day of Goa Liberation Day says pwd minister dhavlikar.
Mr Gadkari would also lay foundation stones for the Talpona and Mashem bridges and Margao bypass road.
Last month, the ministry of road transport and highways called for bids from contractors for construction of the Zuari bridge costing to the tune of 3,300 crore whereas phase II of the project would cost a total of 889 core, including the approach road to the new bridge.
As per the document, the contractor to be awarded the work will have to complete construction of the bridge within a period of three years and will be responsible for the maintenance of the bridge for a period of eight years. The length of the bridge will be 1.084 km.
Speaking to goanreporter.com pwd minister sudhin dhavlikar said that tendering opening for zuari bridge would take place on 9th November and then financial bids would be opened due to which all the process would take at least fifteen days time to complete and then the foundation stone would be laid in December
Commenting over the issue of mgp party being a part of the coaliting dharma with the bjp party Mr dhavlikar said that the coalition would remain intact till the time of bjp party were interested to go along with mgp as its coalition partners
