PANAJI: 30 SEPTEMBER 2018 ….Union Minister of State for Aayush (Independent Charge) Shri Shripad Naik assured that his Ministry will assist to include Forensic Odontology as a separate subject in third and fourth year as the proposal has been putforth by Indian Association of Forensic Odontology( IOFO) at Goa university. He was speaking after inaugurating 1st International and 16th National Indian Association of Forensic Odontology Conferece at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium, Taliegao on September 29.
Shri Naik said that horizon of dentistry has widened in past 3 – 4 decades. He further stated that Forensic Odontology is an evolving science and has a greater scope for development using modern technology and thus the conference is rightly themed, marching into digital era. The conference will be platform for practising dentists and the dental students to learn new technology and that can be used in forensic dentistry.
Minister for Power and Law and Judiciary Shri Nilesh Cabral who was the guest of the honour for the function said that the conference will be excellent opportunity for acknowledging and understanding the work done by forensic dentist all over the world.This being an international conference ,will help in exchanging of knowledge across the boundaries and various issues related to solving cases of age estimation, bite mark analysis etc wiĺl be discussed and appropriate solution will be evolved he added.
Shri Cabral further said that the present government has always stressed upon the benefit of going digital as it guarantees transparency, effective service delivering and good governance. The theme of conference goes along with nation wide campaign of digital India.
Shri Shripad Naik also released the Souvenir of IOFO on the ocassionTheogaraj Samraj, President ,IAFO also spoke on the ocassion.
Dr.Ashith Acharya presented IOFO report 2017-2018.
Also present on the ocassion were Dr.Ida De Noronha de Ataide (Patron)Dean ,Goa dental college and Hospital (GDCH), Dr Anita Spadigam (co patron) professor and head oral and Maxillo Facial Pathology Department, (GDCH) along with other dignitaries.
Dr Ajit Dinkar, Chairman, IOFO welcomed the gathering and Dr Manisha Khorate organising Secretary,IOFO proposed the vote of thanks.
