SEMINAR ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN REGULATORY LANDSCAPE OF INDIA AND REGULATED MARKETS HELD

Panaji: February 26, 2020 :::: Smt. Nila Mohanan, IAS, Secretary for Health inaugurated a seminar on Recent Advancements in Regulatory Landscape of India and Regulated Markets organized by Pharmexcil in collaboration with Food and Drugs Administration and CDSCO in city recently.

Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) is a body setup by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India for export promotion of Pharmaceuticals & allied products. Pharmexcil acts as facilitator by representing industry concerns with Government  agencies and advises the Government on export policy measures. The objective could be achieved when the industry is technically and intellectually sound with the global regulatory practices.

After formal inauguration, addressing the gathering Smt. Nila Mohanan said, having such events in the state, helps to share the knowledge which embraces with the latest developments in regulated markets. She further added such interactions create opportunity to update the skills, which helps to stay connected in competitive field of pharmaceutical industries.

Stressing on the need to bridge the gap between academia and the industries the Health Secretary said, the huge gap exists between what  industry is doing  and what is the requirement of industries in terms of skills, which needs to be addressed.

Speaking further the Secretary said, pharmaceuticals are always a silent champion in the industrial sector. One cannot ignore the contribution made by pharmaceutical sector in field of industrial growth. Pharmaceutical is one sector in the Indian growth story that has not let down the industrial sector, she added.

Speaking on the occasion Smt. Jyothi Sardessai, Director Food and Drugs Administration said, the challenges are being faced all over the country which needs to be tackled on a continuous basis and that is where initiatives in organizing such events are of great help. She said, interactions with regulators and industry experts, sharing of information and experience and discussing ways and means for resolution of issues are need of the hour, she added.
Dr. Rubina Bose, DDC(I), West Zone, Mumbai also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, Shri.Ravi Udaya Bhaskar, DG, Pharmexcil welcomed the guests. Ms. Laxmi Prasanna compered and proposed vote of thanks.

Various technical sessions by Shri Sunil Kumar, Director and Global Head, Culture Transformation and Operational Excellence, Cipla, Dr. Vinay Gopal Nayak, Independent Director, Aarti Industries Ltd and Director at Surge Chemicals (I) Pvt. Ltd, Shri Manu Grover, Country Pharma Business Development Manager, Agilent Technologies Inc and Shri Swain Pradipta, Vice President, Operations Sun Pharma held during one day conference.

Total 150 delegates from the industry, academia and the regulatory agencies are participated in today’s seminar.
