North Goa Pre Conception-Pre Natal Diagnostic Technique (PC-PNDT) Advisory Committee has taken initiative to conduct Elocution, Poetry and Painting competitions for school level students of standard eight to tenth in all five taluka’s of North Goa District on February 27. The concept of the competition is to visualize female foetus awareness to enlighten the minds of the parents to save the girl child.
District Magistrate, North Goa Shri Swapnil M. Naik on Friday chaired the meeting in his chamber at Collectorate of North Goa, Panaji and discussed various measures carried out under PC- PNDT Act.
The Technical officer of PC-PNDT Shri Aires Fernandes explained the update programme and the venue of the competition to be held in all five Taluka of North Goa, in detailed.
ADEI, Shri Narendra Naik, the coordinator of Pernem Taluka level has been entrusted responsibility to hold competition at St. Joseph High School, Pernem Taluka. ADEI Shri Nagesh Gawas, the coordinator of Bicholim Taluka level to organize competition at G.P.S, Bicholim Taluka. ADEI Smt. Jessy Periera, the coordinator of Bardez Taluka level to organize competition at Saraswat Vidyalay Mapusa, Anand Guiri Keni Hall, Bardez Taluka. ADEI Shri Rohidas Gaude, the Coordinator of Satteri Taluka level to organize competition at Government higher Secondary school, Valpoi, Sattari Taluka. All the winners of the North Goa Taluka will vie for the District level Awards
Further, during the meeting, Shri Naik said that from next Academic year, the advisory committee has decided to sign the memorandum of understanding with Director of Higher Education to enable the advisory committee of PC PNDT to conduct street play, slogan and other competition for college level to create mass awareness on the issue of gender biased sex selection in North Goa District.
Earlier, the renewals, purchases of new ultrasound equipment and addition of operators which followed the criteria of the PC PNDT Act were approved by the Advisory committee.
Senior Gynecologist Dr. Mahendra Ghaneker ; Ms Neena Naik, Member (NGO) ; Dr. A. G. K. Dhakankar; Shri Carmo L. Dias Representative of Department of Information and Publicity and Shri Aires Fernandes, Technical office (PC PNDT) collectorate office attended the meeting.
