Panaji: March 13, 2015 … The District Magistrate/District Appropriate Authority, South had organized a rally on “Save the Girl Child” on the occasion of “International women‘s day” in South Goa, clubbed with SVEEP activity for the newly enrolled electors and handling of garbage recently.
The rally commenced from the office of the District Magistrate, Matanhy Saldana Administrative Complex, Margao, was flagged off by the Addl. District Magistrate, South accompanied by the Chairperson of the PC-PNDT Act, South Goa, preceded towards the Margao Municipal Garden, via Holy Spirit. Around 600-700 participants holding the banners, placards shouting the slogans gave wide publicity awareness among the general public to save the girl child, the main aim of the rally.
Members of PC-PNDT Advisory Committee, South Goa, Dr. Siona Gomes, Chairperson, Dr. Ira Almeida, Vice Chairperson, Dr. Minaxi Panandikar, Member Secretary participated in the event. Besides, NSS Unit from Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao Dr. Manoj Kamat NSS Co-ordinator, Mr. Vishal Chari Lecturer, Miss. Preksha Chopdekar Lecturer, Miss. Maria Rodrigues Lecturer, Mr. Mandar Fatarpekar Lecturer, Miss. Shameen Memon Lecturer, accompanied with the students and NSS Unit from RMS Higher Secondary, Shree Damodar College campus, Margao. Miss. Rekha Rawat NSS Co-ordinator, accompanied with the students and participated in the event.
Women’s self help groups from South Goa Municipal Council of Margao, Mormugao, Curchorem-Cacora, Sanguem, Quepem, Cancona also participated in the event.
The Addl. District Magistrate Shri. L.S.R. Pereira was the overall in charge of the programme and was assisted by Shri. Jeetendra V. Budge Mamlatdar-in-Collectorate along with the staff members of PC-PNDT Cell, Election Branch, Judicial Branch and one official of Magisterial Branch .
