Panaji, September 04, 2019 … The areas of various village Panchayats in Pernem Constituency and Tivim Constituency for example areas in Anjuna, Assagao, Sodiem, Siolim, Moira and Nachinola village Panchayats falls under the jurisdiction of Electricity Department, Division XVII, Ansabhat,Mapusa, Bardez
Due to heavy rains and gusty winds, electricity supply to major parts of the areas under the jurisdiction of this Office were affected from August 3, 2019 to August 6, 2019.
The power supply to V.P. areas of Anjuna, Assagao, Colvale, Camurlim, Revora, Nadora, Pirna, Moira, Siolim, Mandrem, Morjim, Arambol, Nagzar, Varkhand, Hali-Chandel, Dhargal was badly affected due to falling of trees, failure of insulators, snapping of conductors during the period.
The work of restoring power supply was delayed due to heavy rainfall. Further the 11 KV feeders once normalized became faulty again due to continuous gusty winds and heavy rain.
There were incidents of road blocks due to water logging at Darbarwada, Camurlim, Hali – Chandel, Nanachepani, Varkhand, Valpe, Aroba – Dhargal, Sodiem – Siolim. As such, there was delay in restoring power supply to the surrounding areas.
Further 45 nos. of RCC poles were broken and about 185 incidents of snapping of conductor due to falling of trees which also affected power supply.
The power supply to the affected areas was restored promptly by engaging Departmental staff. The services of Private Licensed Electrical Contractors were utilized for restoration of supply wherever required in order to restore the supply on top priority.
