Panaji: 23 june 2018: The Goa Football Association at a meeting held on Friday, decided to meet with the directive issued by the All India Football Federation to ensure that the GFA Constitution is amended to bring it at par with AIFF Constitution and also to follow the prescribed guidelines prescribed in the National Sports Development Code 2011 for conduct of business, holding of elections, and forming of Executive Committees.
The GFA President, Mr. Elvis Gomes informed that it is a legal requirement, which has to be met as advised by the AIFF. He said that the Delhi High Court in a recent judgement had quashed the election of the Executive Committee of the All India Football Federation and had directed that the elections be held as prescribed under the National Sports Code. Accordingly, the AIFF has now directed the Member Associations to also fall in line. “The matter is being referred for legal opinion as decided by the Executive Committee. Let there be no doubt whether Elections will be held. I state that Elections will definitely be held as soon as the necessary amendments are carried out in the Constitution as well as in the prescribed procedure for the Elections,” said Mr. Gomes.
The GFA also decided to recommend to the General Body to consider giving one direct representation to clubs hailing from the Talukas of Sanquelim, Bicholim, Satari, Pernem, Ponda, Sanguem, Quepem, and Canacona in order to give a fair representation to clubs from these areas, which are in minority so that their interests are represented in GFA.
Meanwhile, the GFA extended its wishes to Sub Junior Girls squad representing Goa which shall leave for Orissa on 1st July. The GFA also informed that they had raised the issue of non payment of Lusofonia dues by SAG, with the Goa Olympic Association to clear the dues before preparation for the National Games could begin.
