It may be noted that the death toll in the Canacona building collapse has reached 27, with the rescue teams operating manually recovering three more bodies from the debris on Thursday while the state government had already declared the other buildings of ruby residency as unsafe to stay.
Officials of pollution control board are now also trying to find out if the building did required environment clearance from pcb department and also if pcb had issued any permission for setting up a sewerage treatment plant for the project
Speaking to goan reporter chairman of goa state pollution control board jose noronha said that his department had not received any application from the concerned builder of ruby residency and if the area was more than twenty thousand sqmts than the builder had surely defaulted for which after verifying the facts a complain could be logged against the builders of the ruby residency
Meanwhile chief town planner p s putturaju said if the total area of survey no 26 and 27 was acceding more than twenty thousand in sqmts then an environment clearance was required for the project and if the builders had not taken it then it was another procedural lapse while taking permission from government department that the concerned builders had done
