9-march -2013 … With a view to tackle garbage management issues in to the village jurisdiction of corlim the members of the village Panchayat of corlim on Friday held its first garbage awareness meet inside the pda colony of corlim village …

Hundreds of locals participated in the awareness meet which was organized by the corlim village panchayat members with the support of a sygenta limited company situated in corlim village through its ngo margdarshak with the help of (VRecycle) a private waste management services who have taken the initiative to start this pilot project in the village

It may be noted that the project which is just in its initial stages would help in tackling the issues of present waste management situation of the village of corlim where in the management of waste generated in and around corlim villages specially the dry waste would be collected twice in a week by the labourers of v-recycle and then the same would be sorted out at a sorting station situated in corlim industrial estate

The over all aim of the project is to have a plastic free and clean village that uses sustainable model that has cent collection compliance with an environment friendly treatment and disposal system

Addressing locals over the issue of waste management Clinton vaz of v-recycle informed as how to segregate dry and wet waste which would help his labourer to work in a good way

5-march -2013 … Work for the upcoming lusofonia games 2013 is going on smoothly and would be completed well no time said executive director of sports authority of goa elvis gomes on Thursday …

it may be noted that about 13 countries which were once ruled by the Portugese would participate in the Lusofonia Games which are due to be held in Goa in the month of November 2013.

The 3rd Lusofonia Games wherein the Portuguese-speaking nations participate, will be held in nine disciplines of athletics, basketball, football, judo, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball and wushu.

The state government has already geared up for developing infrastructural facilities to host the forthcoming Portuguese Commonwealth Games event for which the entire facilities including indoor and outdoor stadia, tracks will be developed at a cost of Rs 220 crore.

An athletic ground will be coming up at Bambolim, as part of infrastructure development, a running track is being developed at Peddem ground in Mapusa town, while the existing Peddem indoor ground is being refurbished and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda is given a facelift.

st andre mla carries out gmc and surrounding areas site inspection

4-march -2013 … St andre mla Vishnu surya wagh on Tuesday carried a joint site inspection of the goa medical college premises sewage treatment plant and raised serious objections over the functioning of the sewage treatment plant at gmc

The joint site inspection was carried along with the Villagers and panch members of  curca bambolim telaulim village Panchayat though having been informed officials of the goa medical college hospital remained absent at the joint site inspection

the local villagers informed the St andre mla about the problems they were facing due the seepage of the water from the gmc sewage water treatment entering in to their villages due to which locals well’s, septic tank’s were spoiled as well as small water ponds had been formed due to which there was a danger of mosquito breeding in the nearby wards

Speaking to media reporters st andre mla Vishnu wagh said that it was shocking to note that the gmc staff were working at the site of the sewage treatment plant without maintaining proper hygiene standards

 Wagh said that there were many lapses found in to the release of the sewage water treatment plant

 What’s more surprising was to note that even after the gmc officials being informed about the inspection none of the officials came at the site nor did not tried to find out as what a group of people which involved the st andre mla and local villagers were doing inside the campus of gmc hospital raising serious doubts about how the security systems is working in and out of the gmc complex ….

state tourism minister expresses dis-satisfaction over central budget for state tourism department

1-mar-2013 …  Stating that the union budget presented by finance minister P Chidambaram on Thursday had nothing for the state tourism sector, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar on Friday said that the 2013-2014 budget is 2014 lok sabha election-centric.

Speaking to goanreporter, tourism minister Dilip Parulekar said the budget had nothing for a common man and also neglected the tourism sector, particularly in goa.

 Mr Parulekar also said that the union government appeared to have forgotten that the two Goan  MPs had to approach people next year when the general elections were due. He however assured that the state budget would give adequate weightage the tourism sector in goa.

 Meanwhile, industries minister mahadev naik also expressed  his views on the budget
