Though the pwd minister sudhin dhavlikar denied that there was any violation of code of conduct rules but the interview process was seen going on in the pwd department where in candidates selection process was seen going on on Friday morning

Speaking to goanreporter pwd minister sudhin dhavlikar said that the interviews notice was sent to the selected candidates five days before the election code of conduct could come in force and even permission to hold the selection process was taken from the state election commission office

07/03/2014 …. Members of the Aam Aadmi Party goa state on Thursday criticized the state BJP led government and its Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for declaring and/or promising new and modified schemes in the budget thus violating the model code of conduct.

Addressing media person member of the aam admi party swati kerkar said that A vote on account or a budget carrying forward the old schemes was the only allowed option for a party in power once the model code of conduct comes was in force but the present bjp led government had announced certain modification in its schemes thus violating the current model code of conduct

Another member of the aam admi party rajendra kakodkar stated that the budget itself was full of small doles to every group of voters and without any economic sense and was slated to be a please all” election eve budget.

chief minister manohar parrikar presents goa state budget for year 2014-15

06/03/2014 …  The annual financial statement for the year 2014-15 of the state of goa was presented to the state legislative assembly by chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday, reflecting a negligible revenue deficit of Rs 9.38 crore while the fiscal and primary deficits are estimated at Rs 1610.71 and Rs 639.14 crore respectively for 2014-15

Reflecting on the financial health of the state, the chief minister’s annual financial statement total gross budgetary expenditure is estimated at Rs 10526.44 crore as against Rs 9446.19 crore of the previous annual financial statement of 2013-14 …

in his speech, the finance minister stated that the estimated expenditure on revenue account was Rs 8199.84 crore and expenditure account was Rs 1890.03 crore

The total receipts for 2014-15 is estimated to be Rs 9533.88 as against Rs 7923.10 crore in 2013-14 while the increase in revenue is to the extent of 20.32%. The tax revenue is expected to be Rs 5092.58 and non tax revenue is slated to be Rs 2380.51 crore

The annual financial statement also reflects that there will  be a negligible revenue deficit of Rs 9.38 crore while the fiscal and primary deficits are estimated at Rs 1610.71 and Rs 639.14 crore for 2014-15. The gross annual plan expenditure for 2014-15 is also estimated to be Rs 4389.25 crore.

curtorim mla reginaldo lorenco alleges partiality in selecting candidates for government jobs

05/03/2014 …. Curtorim legislator  alleged partiality in selecting candidates for government job by manipulating marks obtained by candidates.

The chief minister however denied that that is the case and said that more weightage is given to written exams than to oral tests.

He also clarified about 17 candidates whose appointment have been held up.

The Fatorda legislator sought  to know whether the antecedents of the candidates were checked. The chief minister assured to put proper mechanism in place to sort out any deficiency in the process by June end..

goan mla’s demands for immediate withdrawal of cases register agaisnt them

04/03/2014 ….A day after the Margao police booked Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai and Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco for obstructing police while discharging their lawful duties, the duo on Monday demanded immediate withdrawal of the cases or to register a similar case against Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado for the loud music played at the Sinquetim dance till around 3 am on Monday.

 Coming down heavily on the government for police action against them, the duo said that the filing of false and malicious cases was nothing but an attempt to silence them on the eve of the beginning of the Assembly session..

 Mr Sardesai further said that the case was filed against him because he moved a resolution for sound relaxation during weddings and traditional events in a bid to end the politician-police nexus in extorting money from organizers.

He also questioned as to why the police did not file a case against Avertano Furtado for being present at a dance event in Sinquetim where loud music was being played.  

 Speaking about the issue, Mr Lourenco urged people to fight against the oppression of the BJP-led Govt. 

 

PWD minister sudhin dhavlikar lays foundation stones for two water treatment plants

03/03/2014 …. PWD minister sudhin dhavlikar on Sunday laid the foundation stones for two water treatment plants – a 71 crore rupees 27 MLD Opa water treatment plant and the 115 crore rupees  27 MLD Ganjem water treatment plant in the presence of Ponda MLA lavoo mamledar.

 The entire 27 MLD of water at Opa is planned to be pumped to Panaji city, which presently gets only around 11.5 MLD. Once commissioned, the Opa plant is expected to supply 24 x 7 water supply to Panaji. The Opa project is being taken up under the Jawaharlal Nehru national urban renewal mission scheme.

The existing capacity of the Opa water treatment facility is 114 MLD but with the water getting distributed to the two talukas of Tiswadi and Ponda and some villages adjoining Ponda, there is a water shortage in Panaji.

The project will be taken up in two parts; one is the construction of the 27-MLD water treatment plant and the second is the distribution network. Both contractors will be given a deadline of 365 days to complete the works. The 27 MLD water treatment plant at Ganjem will add to water supply to areas in Sanguem and Ponda talukas.

 

Tourism minister Dilip Parulekar lays foundation stone for Colva Coastal Circuit at Colva

02/03/2014 … Minister for Tourism, Dilip Parulekar today, laid the foundation stone for Colva Coastal Circuit at Colva under which development of tourism affiliated infrastructure and basic facilities and beautification of areas of Betalbatim, Colva and Benaulim beaches to boost tourism will be undertaken.

Rs 15 crore project under Central Finance Assistance from Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi and is scheduled to be completed within 270 days excluding monsoons.

Parulekar, speaking on the occasion said that the government is providing the necessary fillup for boosting the tourism related infrastructure by making available the basic facilities and amenities to attract tourist all round the year.

Referring to the ongoing taxi problem, he assured that the government will not permit any outside agency to establish their shop at the cost of the local taxi owners.

MLA Francisco Xavier Pacheco said that the project will give a face lift to three villages and will also benefit the people. He urged the people not to object this beautiful project.

01/03/2014 ..the four-day Food and Cultural Festival 2014  organized by the department of tourism in collaboration with the Goa tourism development corporation  at the merces ground was inaugurated on Friday by deputy chief minister Francis D’Souza in the presence of tourism minister dilip Parulekar.

 

Many food stalls depicting various Goan cuisines are lined up for the visitors  to taste some delicious food and some goan bands provided some foot-tapping music to keep the audience entertained.

A dance performance by Darrel and Raquel was also the highlight of the evening.

The leading actor and actress from a new film youngistaan were also the attraction of the evening. Dr Varun Carvalho gave a musical  performance.
