speaking to media reporters at the party head office in Panjim reginaldo said that he had fought the recent held lok Sabha election against four Bharatiya Janata Party candidates namely Churchill Alemao, Savio Rodrigues, Shalom Sardinha and Narendra Sawaikar and was hopeful to come out victorius in it.

Reginald said that it was the opposition who had to fear about the silent voters as he was confident that he would be victorious in the recent held lok Sabha elections in south goa

17/04/2014 …. The state government on Thursday welcomed the mahdei river tribunal decision of directing the Karnataka state government to block canal with concrete structure before May 31 to stop mhadei water diversion till final order ….

 It may be noted that during the previous hearing, Karnataka had proposed to plug the Kalasa canal at Kankumbi to stop water flowing in the Kalasa nallah from joining the Malaprabha river.

 The advocate general of Goa, Atmaram Nadkarni, during the last hearing held on March 27, brought to the notice of the tribunal, illegalities committed by Karnataka for carrying out work of excavation and construction of the Kalasa canal at Kankumbi without taking necessary statutory clearances.

 Addressing media persons at the party head office in Panjim chief minister manohar Parrikar gave more details about the order set by the mhadei river tribunal

 Parrikar said from the year 2006 up to 2012 the then congress led government in to the state of goa had not done anything nor even had written any protest letter against the Karnataka to the tribunal and hoped that with this order the dispute could be solved through legal arguments

 Meanwhile the state bjp party also announced its party panel for the upcoming taleigao panchayat elections

congress alleges state government of giving dearness allowance to government employees was in violation of the model code of conduct

16/04/2014 … Stating that the announcement made by the state government of giving dearness allowance to government employees was in violation of the model code of conduct the state congress party on Wednesday urged the central election commission as well as state election commission to segregate the state 10,500 postal ballot votes from the recently held lok sabha elections in to the state of goa ….

 It may be noted that the Goa government on Tuesday had raised the dearness allowance of nearly 65,000 civil servants and over 22,000 pensioners, from 90 to 100 per cent of the basic, from January 2014.

 The Union cabinet had approved the proposal to hike DA for its employees and dearness relief for its pensioners to 100 per cent in March and the same has been implemented for Goa government employees. 

 Addressing media person gpcc president john Fernandes said the party was objecting to the statement made by chief minister over the increase of da to the state government employees as the same was announced by the prime minister of india dr manmohan singh prior to the election while mr Parrikar had announced it during the model code of conduct was in force

 Fernandes also stated that he had spoken to his central aicc leaders to log a complaint with the central election commission over the matter

Speaking to reporter south goa mp Francisco sardinha said he was in goa during the lok Sabha elections and had not participated in the campaigning process though there was no any particular reason for it and no one could stop him on doing what he felt was right

On asked about his son shalom contesting the south goal ok Sabha seat on an independent ticket Sardinha said that shalom was an individual and every individual had the right to take his own step in today’s world though he had tried to convince him not to contest the polls

14/04/2014 …. With the Taleigao panchayat election scheduled to take place on april 27 of this month st cruz  mla babush monsoratte has stepped up his campaigning process along with his supporters for the panchayats elections asking to vote for his taleigao progressive development front ….

The st cruz mla babush monsoratte heads the progressive development front from which mr monsoratte has fielded 11 candidates in eleven wards of the taleigao village panchayat and was seen moving from houses to house campaigning for his candidates at the upcoming panchayat elections

 Political equations believe that this time it won’t be an easy task for mr monsoratte to get his panel elected at the village panchayat elections and would have to work hard for his victory as the bjp party has also made provisions to put candidates and fight the battle at the April 27 village panchayat elections

 Like his usual trend mr Monserrate had announced candidates for the 11-member panchayat well in advance and had picked up fresh candidates from which only few are believed to be old faces who had fought panchayat elections last term before.

chimbel village faces major water shortage problem on election day

13/04/2014 … Even though major political parties had promised goan voters on various issues at the ongoing lok Sabha elections in to the state of goa locals in areas of chimbel village were faced with major water shortage problem and were seen filling water for their personnel use from pwd water tankers

While Saturday was announced as the polling day for the two lok Sabha seats in to the state of goa locals of chimbel village instead of casting their rights to vote for their choice of candidate for the lok Sabha elections had to first rush to the government supplied water tankers and fill up water for their daily use as the chimbel village has been facing a major water shortage problem for the past few days

 Even after informing the pwd department about the difficulties the pwd officials seems to have been least bothered to take a note of it and have not adhere to the need of the chimbel locals thus forcing the locals to fill up drinking water from pwd water tanks

Another local rajendra sakhalkar said that almost the village have been facing a major water crisis for the last fifteen days

It may be noted that in the campaigning process of the ongoing lok Sabha elections various congress leaders such as youth president valanka alemao, dabolim mla mauvin godinho , former cuncolim mla joaquim alemao, former south goa mp Francisco sardinha had not participated in the campaign process of the congress candidates in the state specially in south goa …

Though citing personnel reasons valanka had shifted herself to delhi to campaign for the congress party dabolim mla mauvin godinho, former south goa mp Francisco sardinha had also kept himself away from the congress campaign

Speaking to goanreporter gpcc president john Fernandes said that if any of the congress leader who is a member of the pcc committee and had not worked for the party during the lok Sabha elections would be asked the vacate the pcc seat or not to attend the pcc meet

Fernandes said there would not be any effect of the alemao family as well as of the dabolim mla mauvin godinho at the south goa parliamentary seat for the lok Sabha elections

Fernandes also stated that Churchill had done a mistake by resigning from the congress party and joining tmc to fight the lok Sabha elections but instead should have allowed the alemao’s younger generation to come up in their political life as their search had already began for news faces in various state constituencies

polling stations for the april 12th lok Sabha elections in the state of goa to be made in to no-smoking areas

11/04/2014 … In a way to make polling stations free from smoking zones the state election office in a circular issued on Friday said that all the polling stations for the april 12th lok Sabha elections in the state of goa would be made in to no-smoking areas so that voters could be able to cast their votes in a smoke-free Environment.

It may be noted that the State Unit of Voluntary health Association of India being a largest health-Care NGO had appealed to the state CEO to ensure polling stations be made smoke-free

 The directive mentions that as polling booths are public places, the circular  is in sync with Section 4 of the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003.

 The act states that smoking is prohibited in all public places. Section 4 also states that a mandatory display signage must be posted in public places.

 Speaking to media reporters Chief executive officer Keshav Chandra said that he had asked the Returning Officers, ARO’s and AEROs in the state to take appropriate measures so as to see polling stations as no smoking zone areas.

 Keshav said he had asked his office to keep a strict watch on polling stations as no mobiles phone would be allowed near the polling booth and also strict action would be taken no those who were found in trying to lure voters by offering food and drinks close to the 200 and 100 mts radius distance of the polling booth

 Keshav also stated that since goa was a peaceful state there were no major complaints received by his department during the campaign process in the last few days
