NORTH GOA DISTRICT

PANAJI PS: Victim lady complained that on 30.01.13 at 11.20 hrs. at Patto Panaji, accused  Custodio s/o Circumsiao  Mendes r/o Merceswadi abused her, thereby outraged her modesty, so also  accused  threatened  with dire consequence  to her  and her  boss  Mr.  Aubrey D’Souza. Accused arrested and released on bail. Cr.No.45/13 u/s 354, 506 IPC stands registered.

PONDA PS:  Shri Rupesh s/o Laxmikant Prabhu r/o Borim-Ponda complained that on 28.01.13 at 13.30 hrs. at Borim, accused Vasusha  w/o Ravindranath  Nipanikar  r/o  Shirshire rode his Pleasure scooter  No. GA-05-H-0380 in a rash and negligent  manner,  dashed  to his  son namely  Sushant  Prabhu and  caused  injury  to his right  leg. Accused being arrested. Cr.No.34/13 u/s 279, 338 IPC and134 (a) (b) of M. V. Act registered.

ANJUNA PS:Complaint on behalf of the State that on 30.01.13 at 22.50 hrs. at UV Bar and restaurant  Praisewada,  Anjuna accused  Manjunath  s/o  Ramappa Naik, age 20 yrs.  N/O Gadag at present r/o St.  Anthonywada, Anjuna was found playing loud amplified music without having permission from competent authority beyond 22.00 hrs. Thereby causing annoyance and nuisance to the public. Accused arrested. Cr.No.12/13 u/s 7 and 10 of M.P. of Music and noise Act 1951 stands registered. PSI M Kerkar is I. O.

MAPUSA PS: Mrs.  Margarat Fernandes r/o Sodiem, Siolim complained that on 30.01.13 at around 06.50 hrs.  at Tropa  Church  Sodiem  Accused 1)  Domnic D’Souza,  President  of  World  revival  Ministry, 2)  James  and 3)  Inacio  ( full  names  not known)  with their  common intention  stopped  her  scooter  while she  was going  to church  for  Mass at Tropa  church,  further  abused  her  saying  bad words and came  to assault  and  pushed  her  and  threatened  her with  dire  consequence. Accused being arrested. Cr.No.37/13 u/s 341, 504, 509, 506, 352 r/w 34 IPC registered. PSI P. Phadte is I. O.

2) On 30.01.13, dead body of unknown male person was found lying near SBI Bank Mapusa. Body preserved in GMC Morgue Bambolim for PME and identification. U.D.No.12/13 u/s 174 Cr. P. C. stands registered. PSI Prajyot Fadte is I. O.

3) On 30.01.13, dead body of unknown person was found lying in canal at Sirsaim. Body preserved in GMC Morgue Bambolim for PME and Identification. U.D.No.13/13 u/s 174 Cr. P. C. stands registered. PSI Prajyot Fadte is I. O.

PORVORIM PS: Joseph s/o Luis Salvador Pereira, age 30 yrs.  r/o Josil Cottage   Hanumantwada, Ecoxim, Bardez  complained that between 13.01.13  at 18.00 hrs.  to 30.01.13 at 08.45 hrs.  at Holy  Cross Chappel  Hanumatwada, Ecoxim, unknown accused person committed  theft of two  antique  idols  of St.  Peter and St. Francis Xavier of height around one foot black and golden color W/rs.1,00,000/- approx.,  by breaking  lock of  side  door of Holy  family  chapel. Cr.No.21/13 u/s 454, 457, 380 IPC stands registered. PSI V. Durbhatkar is I. O.

SOUTH GOA DISTRICT

CURCHOREM PS:Suryakant J.  Shirodkar, Branch manager of Goa Sahakar Bhandar Curchorem r/o Shiroda complained that between 29.01.13 at 19.30 hrs.  to 30.01.13  at 02.30 hrs.  Curchorem  unknown  culprit/s  effected entry into Sahakar  Bhandar  Curchorem  by  bending  the shutter  and committed  theft of  safe  containing  cash,  2 gold coins  of 3 grams, 3 coins silver, all W/rs.1,53,00/- approx.  Cr.No.08/13 u/s 457, 380 IPC stands registered.  ASI Peter Fernandes is I. QUEPEM PS:On 30.01.13, one Hiru s/o Kidu Kolanbe r/o Sirvoi Quepem was brought dead at PHC Kakoda as a case of suicidel at his residence. Body preserved in Hospicio Hospital Morgue. U.D.No.3/13 u/s 174 Cr. P. C.  Stands registered. PSI S. Desai is I. O.

fish markets open in capital city

31-jan-2013 … Fish market in the capital city of Panjim remained open on Thursday morning after the fish vendors from the Panjim fish market had remained close for the past two days extending their support to the ongoing strike by the fishing trawler owners over the hike in the diesel prices done by the central government in the state remained closed today

It may be noted that fish markets in the cities like Panaji, Margao, Vasco,  Mapusa  and others had gone on strike from Tuesday due to which there was no trade in the markets as with fish vendors not turning up to sell fish in the market in support of the All Goa Fishermen’s Federation who had began agitation since Saturday demanding that the hike in the diesel prices by the central government be rolled back.

But due to two days closure of fish market, less crowd was noticed at the city fish market on Thursday

Meanwhile chief minister Manohar Parrikar also gave his views over the central governments decision of raising a hike in diesel prices

tons of garbage lies unnoticed at panjim football ground

31-jan-2013 … With no authorities taking responsibility of cleaning up the mess that had been done during the four days grape escapade festival in the past few days Heaps of garbage had forced its way at the corner area of the Panjim football ground raising questions on who is responsible to clean up the mess which is lying un-cleaned at the football ground …

It may be noted that few days back a four day wine and haute cuisine festival organized by Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd and the Department of Tourism was organized at the Panjim football ground

Though The unique cultural experience had brought in together dignitaries attached with the global industries of wine, food, beverages and lifestyle but what ever the organizers used for making the event a success is now lying at the corner of the panjim football ground .

But though the festival had been a success the organizers seems to have forgotten their responsibility of cleaning up the mess from the area which had been left un-cleaned and gives a shabby look for the ground even when lakhs of rupees were spent on organizing the great escapade 2013 …

Various form of garbage such as glass bottles, pieces of glass bottles, plastic of various form and other utility items are been dumped at the corner of the football ground and have not yet been collected till date due to which there is a fear that the same waste could find its way in to the river in the next few days which could create river pollution …

Speaking to goanreporter ccp mayor vaidehi naik said that the permission to hold the event was given with pre conditions to the organizers and therefore it was the responsibility of the organizers to clean up the area …

Meanwhile chief minister and mla of Panjim constituency Manohar Parrikar said it was for the ccp to take action immediately on such issues

28-jan-2013 … Vasco mla carlos almeida along with the members of the marmugao vasco launch owners association led by its president suresh karapurkar on Monday met chief minister Manohar Parrikar and informed him about their difficulties faced due to the ban on mining which had left around thirty five launch owners without any working in the port town of vasco …

The members who meet the chief minister Manohar Parrikar demanded compensation to the launch owners who were facing a loss of over a lakh of rupees a month where in the owners were forced to pay their workers monthly salary without any work for the past few months …

28-jan-2013 … Stating that there were some politicians who were trying to raise issues for no reason Daboblim mla Mauvin Godinho on Monday said that while would remain as an airport in the state, the international Greenfield airport coming up at mopa was also the need of the hour looking ahead at the air traffic congestion at the dabolim airport

It may be noted that there have been voices from various politicians raised on mopa airport who had stated that the upcoming airport at mopa was not in the interest of goa and goans and therefore were totally against the coming of an airport at mopa in pernem

Speaking to goanreporter dabolim mla mauvin Godinho said there were some who were simply making mountain out of a mole hill which would not help any one and it was the right time that every one had to think of the state as a whole and as dabolim airport was the need of goa, airport at mopa too was the need of the state

Mauvin said that the state of goa had to think for fifty years ahead and it wont be right if we forge go the airport at mopa …

28-jan-2013 … Stating that the ccp councilors might have taken the decision of putting a ban on film shootings and exhibitions following the traffic congestion inside the capital city Chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday said that the decision of allowing to hold exhibitions in the ccp jurisdiction was up to ccp council while allowing of film shootings was with the collector and the entertainment society of goa …

It may be noted that the decision of putting a ban on film shootings and exhibitions in the capital city was welcomed by the citizens from the ccp jurisdiction the same had drawn criticism from state minister as well as local politicians who had said that putting a ban was not the right way and there could be ways of adjusting and accommodating people and their interests.

Speaking to media reporter’s chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that though ccp might had put up a ban due to traffic congestion the issue had to be handled in the right manner as putting a ban was not the solution for ccp

26-jan-2013 … Even though the controversy over exhibitions and film shootings in the capital city, which were the cause of nightmarish traffic congestion were laid to rest after the ccp council resolving to a ban on all exhibitions and film shootings in the capital city members of the youth congress party on Saturday asked the state chief minister Manohar Parrikar to review the same decision stating that it would hamper the livelihood of those earning from the exhibitions and film business in goa ….

It may be noted that the proposal which was moved by Mayor Vaidehi Naik of putting a ban on exhibitions and films in the capital city had got in to a heated discussions at the ccp meet on Thursday when the CCP corporators Kabir Makhija Pinto and Rudresh Chodankar demanded to the council not to allow exhibitions in Campal or film shootings in Fontainhas, citing traffic congestions and garbage problems.

The Mayor had refused to allow any partial ban, proposing either a total ban or reject the motion. Ultimately the proposal was backed by Miramar Corporators ~ Surendra and Ruth Furtado, leading to a ban on exhibitions and film shootings till the holistic plan of Panjim is finalized.

Addressing a media press conference at the party head office in Panjim congress youth president pratima coutinho said that the youth congress was condemning the decision taken by the Panjim municipality and would ask the chief minister Manohar Parrikar to look in to the matter and change it

Pratima said that the decision had to be revoked as it was a question of a common man livelihood and also in the interest of the state tourism

On asked as what the youth congress president had to say about the locals of the Panjim city who were supporting their respective councilor’s who are mostly connected with the congress party on this move of stopping exhibitions and film shootings in their ward pratima said that one had to think in the larger interest of the state and the decision and to be revoked

goa celebrates the national voters day

The state of goa on Friday celebrated the national voters day at nenezes Braganza hall in Panjim ..

Governor of goa shri Bharat vir wanchoo was the chief guest of the function which inaugurated the function by lighting of the traditional lamp in the presence of goa state election commissioner dr m modassir other dignitaries …

The main objective of the function was to felicitate newly enrolled young voters in the age group of 18 to 19 by providing them the Epics and a badge with the slogan “Proud to be a voter-Ready to vote” and administering the oath to them.

This year 36,219 electors who have been enrolled in the electoral rolls in goa during the summary revision 2013  there are 12,171 electors in the age group of 18 to 19 years

The aim of the celebrations, upto the booth level, is the maximization of enrollment of young voters in the age group of 18 and 19.

Speaking on the occasion governor of goa shri Bharat vir wanchoo said that though the national voters day everyone had been able to deal with one of the weakest links in our electoral rolls and it I is encouraging that the enrollment of the 18 to 19 age group of goa was up to 66 % which was much higher than the national average of 40%

Meanwhile goa state election commissioner dr m modassir said that there was need to create awareness about voting in the local bodies of the state

21-jan-2013 …Stating that strict law were needed to be implemented in various schools of the state kala academy chairman Vishnu surya wagh on Monday said that time had come for the state government to force state schools to form vishaka committee in their respective schools so that incident such as the vasco rape incident could be tackled in future and would also ask the state government for special funds for state schools security purpose…

Wagh is currently heading the Goa education department formed high-level committee who are probing into the suicide of a rape victim who burnt herself fearing her rapist will harm her.

The committee headed by Wagh had also held a number of meetings in regard to the investigation and are also investigating the role of the school in which the teacher Kanhaiya Naik, accused of raping his student used to teach.

Speaking to goanreporter over the vasco rape incident Wagh said as he along with entire committee members had visited the site at vasco he had expressed his apprehensions on the same day to the police officers on the role of the headmistress in to the entire episode who was the focal point of the incident after which she had been arrested now

Wagh said that the committee had already prepared five to six suggestions which they would asked the government to implement in every schools of the state as against the backdrop of vasco incident and also on forming the vishaka committees..

 Wagh said that the state government had to make funds available for security purposes in the schools

 Commenting over his committee progress over the kanaya naik molestation case on which even some of the congress leaders had criticized the house committee for not coming out with the report wagh said his committee was acting on a faster pace and had almost verified most of the witnesses in front of the camera in to the case
