GOA STATE CULTURAL AWARDS 2015-16 ANNOUNCED

Panaji: August 24, 2016 …. The Directorate of Art and  Culture has announced the Goa State Cultural Awards 2015-16 for 12 personalities from  the field of Art and Culture for their contribution and  achievements in their respective fields like Music, Drama, Tiatr, Folk Art, Bhajan, Kirtan, Craft, Literature and Painting.

  The recipients of awards for the year 2015-16 are: Shri Chedo Subha Parwar Priol, Ponda  and Shri Anil Ganesh Kondurkar Mormugao for Indian Music, Shri Jerome Rodrigues, Cuncolim, Salcete for Western Music, Shri Arun Ramchandra Sakhardande, Mapusa, Bardez and Smt. Leena Satish Pednekar, Cumbarjua, Tiswadi for Literature, Shri. Pradeep Chandrakant Vernekar, Panaji, Tiswadi, Shri Pralhad Babai Hadfadkar, Aldona, Bardez, Shri Theodore Alvares, Saligao, Bardez,  and Shri. Jose Xavier Gomes, Cumbarjua, Tiswadi for Theatre, Tiatr, Shri Balaji Raghuvir Kamat, St.Cruz, Tiswadi for Bhajan, Shri Mahendra Tulshidas Gaonkar, Cumbarjua, Tiswadi for Folk Art and Shri Mohan Ganesh Mayekar, Mormugao for Fine Art.

 The Awards comprises of a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- each, a certificate, shrifal,  Nataraj Replica and  shawl.

The Government also honors one Best Cultural Institution, working in the field of Art and Culture every year for the year 2015-16. The Best Cultural Institution award will be conferred on Rudreshwar, Panaji-Goa . The award consists of a Memento and Cash prize of Rs.3.00 Lakh.

The Goa State Cultural Awards for Individuals and Best Cultural Institution will be presented to the awardees at a special function to be organized by the department. The date of the function will be declared by the department Shortly.

CM RELEASES BOOK ON 50 YEARS OF PANCHAYATI RAJ IN GOA

Panaji: August 23, 2016 ….. Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar released the book tittled “50 Years of Panchayati Raj in Goa: Retrospect and Prospects” at function held at Goa University recently.

Prof. Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor of Goa University
presided over the function.

Addressing the students and faculties the Chief Minister said each village has its own set of issues, which only the locals can understand. Members of a, Panchayat are more seized with the problems of the villagers, thus they are more capable of taking appropriate decisions in the interest of the people of their village.

Speaking further Chief Minister said the book has been published by doing detailed study incorporating all 17 papers depicting the functioning of Panchayati Raj in the state. He said Political Science students should study such issues to bring detail information about such subject and enlighten to society.

Adv. Amrut Kansar gave the key note address. Earlier Dr. Rahul Tripathi, Head of Political Department welcomed the guests. Dr. Alaknanda Shringare spoke about the contents of the book.

Dr. Prakash Desai briefed about the activities carried out by the
“Loksamvaad”.

Miss. Pradnya Desai compered while Ms. Shilpa Singh proposed vote of thanks.

GOVERNOR CALLS FOR PARTICIPATION OF EVERY CITIZEN TO MAKE SWACCH BHARAT MISSION SUCCESSFUL

Panaji: Aug. 23,2016 … The Governor of Goa Dr. (Smt) Mridula Sinha  has  exhorted the youth to work to imbibe in our youth the culture of cleanliness. The Swacch Bharat Campaign which was launched couple of years ago requires participation of every citizen to make it a reality and further appealed to shoulder this noble task.

Smt. Sinha stated this while delivering  keynote address at the function organized to sensitize the students and faculty of The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition about Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, and release of second edition of Hindi magazine  ‘AAROH’ at Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition at Alto Porvorim yesterday.

Smt Sinha further said that cleanliness should be the part of our life rituals  and we should enjoy doing it like we do other things in our life. Cleanliness she said is important for healthy living,  therefore one should not litter and should not allow others to litter garbage.

Thereafter Smt. Sinha administered the  oath of cleanliness

Smt. Lisa Norton E Dias HOD II, Shri Suryakant Parastekar, Administrative Officer, Staff and Students of IHM   attended the function.

RM,CM REVIEW PREPAREDNESS AHEAD OF BRICS SUMMIT

Union Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar,  Union Minister of State  for AYUSH along with Member of Parliament Shri Narendra Sawaikar and MLA Shri Siddharth Kunkolienkar  today  reviewed preparations for the BRICS summit at a meeting at Ministerial Block, Porvorim.  Shri Amar Sinha Former Ambassador of India in Kabul  and presently Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India also attended the meeting.

The Heads of the Departments and officers of all concerned departments of State Government and central Government were impressed upon to play their part well and leave no stone unturned. The matters relating to roads, electricity, cleanliness, security  and others related areas were discussed at the meeting.

Director General of Police Maharshtra, Shri Satish Mathur, Special CP Delhi Police Shri T. N. Mohan, Director General of  Goa Police Dr. Muktesh Chander, Secretaries to Government of Goa, Naval Officers, Heads of Departments, senior offices were also present.

Panaji: August 21, 2016 … Power shut down has been arranged on August 22, 2016 at 11 KV Siolim feeder between 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Areas  affected are Marna, Paramount DTC, Red Rock DTC, Petrol Pump DTC and surrounding areas.

 Similarly on August 23, 2016, at  11 KV Keri feeder between 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Areas  affected are  VP Keri and surrounding areas.

 On August 25, 2016 at 11 Morjim Feeder  feeder between 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Areas  affected are  Newwada, Vithaldas wada in VP Morjim. and surrounding areas.

 And on August 26, 2016 at 11 KV Keri feeder between 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Areas  affected are, VP Palyem and surrounding areas.

CONSULTATION WORKSHOP ON “PROMOTING CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES IN GOA”

Panaji: August 21, 2016Directorate of Art and Culture, Goa in collaboration with UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), New Delhi and the International Centre, Goa has organized a two day workshop on “Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries in Goa” on the August 20 and 21,  2016  at the Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji-Goa

While keeping the UNESCO 2005 convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of cultural expressions, the Workshop aims at encouraging the introduction of cultural policies and measure that nurture creativity, optimizing the contribution of the cultural industries to economic and social development and integrating culture into sustainable development of the society.

The workshop also intends to identify issues and areas of cultural and other aspects in Goa, and to generate voluntary working groups to take it forward.

The two days workshop was inaugurated on August 20, 2016 at the hands of Shri Daulat Hawaldar, Secretary Art and Culture, in the presence of Shri Yatin G. Kakodakar, President, International Centre Goa. Ms. Moe Chiba, Section Chief and Programme Specialist for Culture UNESCO, New Delhi and Shri Prasad Lolayekar, Director of Art and culture.

 A Presentation was made by Shri Yudhishthri Raj Isar during inaugural function on Introduction to UNESCO 2005 Convention and its global monitoring report.

The two day workshop will include discussions by various panelist and participate who will highlight on the cultural aspects of the State.

PHOTOGRAPHS TELL MORE THAN WORDS: CM

Panaji: August 20, 2016 … Chief Minister, Shri Laxmikant Parsekar said that Photographs tell more than words and is an effective medium of communication in print media.  Photos disseminate the required meaning without saying a word and weightage to news article.

 Shri Parsekar was speaking at World Photography Day and prize distribution function organised by Photo Journalist’s Association Goa (PJAG) in collaboration with Departmetn of Information and Publicity in the city recently.

 Speaking further Shri Parsekar said, Media is the fourth pillar of Democracy and photo-journalists who are part of it play important role to bring the news in pictures to the readers.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Sidharth Kuncalienkar, MLA, and EDC Chairman said that Photographs is a powerful medium of conveying message. He said newspaper is not complete without Photographs.

Director, Information and Publicity Shri Jayant Tari, assured that the Department will always work for the welfare of the Journalist and the benefits of various schemes for the betterment of Journalist would be passed effectively to the beneficiaries.

Chief Minister Shri Parsekar also inaugurated Photo Exhibition on the occasion.

Minister for Tourism Shri Dilip Parulekar was also present on the occasion.

Shri Aatish Naik, President Photo Journalist’s Association Goa welcomed the guests. Shri Ganesh Shetkar compered the function.

PROCESS OF NOMINATIONS FOR COOPERATIVE AWARDS BEGIN

Panaji: August 19, 2016 … The process of inviting  nominations for the Goa State Cooperative Awards and Assistance for the year 2014-2015 has  commenced from July 15, 2016 and the last date of submission of the nominations was August 16, 2016.

However, very few nominations were received within the stipulated time and hence, the Goa State Cooperative Awards and Assistance selection committee has decided to extend the date till August 29, 2016 for submitting the applications. All the individuals associated with the cooperative movement and the Cooperative societies desiring to apply for the awards may take note of the same.

“SADBHAVANA DIWAS” TO BE CELEBRATED ON AUGUST 19

Panaji: August 18, 2016 … Birth Anniversary of late Shri. Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India is observed as “Sadbhavana Diwas” nation-wide every year, on August 20,  to promote the national integration and the communal harmony amongst people of all religions, languages and regions.

This year, the August 20, 2016, falls on Saturday which is a closed holiday for State Government Offices. Therefore, this year, the  Sadbhavana Diwas will be observed on Friday  August 19, 2016.

The Chief Minister of Goa, will garland the portrait of late Shri. Rajiv Gandhi and will administer the “Sadbhavana Pledge” at 11.00 a.m, in the Secretariat complex at Porvorim, Goa.

All the Secretaries, Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, Under Secretaries to Government and staff of Secretariat including those housed outside Secretariat are requested to be present in the open space inside the Secretariat Complex, Porvorim at 10.50 a.m. to take the pledge.
