CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER MEETS POLITICAL PARTIES

August 30, 2016 … Goa  Chief  Electoral Officer Shri Kunal  recently held a meeting with representatives of all political parties in the state at the CEO office Altinho and apprised them on various programmes  pertaining to elections.

The CEO briefed the representatives of political parties on  Awareness regarding Draft Roll 2017, Special Summary revision  2017 schedule, Awareness for summary revision , 2017, Identification and Enrolment of left out electors and other matters concerning electoral process.

The CEO stressed that the appointment of Booth Level Agents by recognized political parties is a very essential part as the BLAs play important role in registration of electors and therefore all recognized parties should appoint BLA for every booth.

Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Shri Devidas Gaunkar, Nodal officer SVEEP Dr. Durgaprasad, Additional Collector II , North Goa Shri Johnson Fernandes and Information Officer Shri John Aguiar were also present.

STAGES OF SUMMARY REVISION ANNOUNCED

Panaji: August 29, 2016 …. The Chief Electoral Officers office has announced schedule for various stages of summary revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to January 1, 2017 as qualifying date for the Goa State.

          The Draft Publication of Rolls will be on September 15, 2016 (Thursday), period for filing of claims and objections is September 15, 2016 (Thursday) to October 14, 2016 (Friday).

          Reading of relevant part/section of Photo electoral rolls in Gram Sabha/Local Bodies and RWA meetings etc and verification of names will be done on September 16, 2016 (Friday) and October 30, 2016 (Friday).

          Special Campaign dates with Booth Level Agents of political parties for receiving claims and Objections will be held on September 18, 2016 (Sunday) and October 9, 2016 (Sunday).

          Disposal of claims and objections will be done on by November 16, 2016 (Wednesday).

          Updating the database, merging of photographs, updating Control Tables and preparation and printing of Supplementary list will be done on December 15, 2016 (Thursday) and the final publication of Electoral Rolls will be done on January 5, 2017 (Thursday).

ONE DAY SEMINAR ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

Panaji: August 29, 2016… MSME-Development Institute, Margao, Goa under the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of  India is  organizing one day IPR seminar for stakeholders, teachers, IP Practitioners, entrepreneurs involved in Intellectual  Property matters and related issues in the State of Goa.

The programme will be held  at V.M. Salgaocar College of  Law, Miramar, on August 31, 2016 at  9.30 a.m at the College Conference Hall. Prof. Dr. T. Ramakrishna, Chairperson IPR Chair, National Law School, Bangalore and Dr. G. Shaber Ali, HOD, V.M Salgaocar College of  Law are the resource persons for this seminar.

GOVERNMENT TO FELICITATE SENIOR CITIZENS

Panaji: August 28, 2016 …. The Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa will felicitate 14 outstanding  Senior Citizens above the age group of 70 on the occasion of “International Day for the Senior Citizen” on October 1, at the  State Level function, by presenting a Memento, a Shawl, a Shrifal(Coconut).

One Senior Citizen  from smaller Talukas and two senior Citizens from bigger Talukas will be selected for felicitation.

Interested outstanding Senior Citizen(above 70 years  may apply in the prescribed application form with their Bio-data along with the testimonials and one passport size photo copy to the Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, Panaji on or before September 9, 2016. Applications received after due date will not be entertained.

PROHIBITING ORDER OF TRANSPORTATION OF BIRDS WITHDRAWN

Panaji: August 28, 2016 … The District Magistrate, North has withdrawn the order issued earlier  prohibiting  the transportation and entry of birds from Karnataka State into North Goa District effective for a period of  60 days i.e. upto September 22, 2016 as it is reported  that there are no more instances of Bird Flu in the affected districts of  Karnataka State and they are now found to be free form Bird Flu.

ARMY RECRUITMENT RALLY IN GOA ON NOV.9

August 28, 2016 …. The candidates from the Goa aspiring to join the Indian Army can attend a recruitment rally on November 9  at 3 Technical Training Regiment ground at Bambolim under the online registration system of recruitment Col. Rahul Verma, Director recruiting, Army Recruiting Office said here on Thursday.

The recruitment will be for all categories, including soldier general duty (GD), soldier tradesmen, soldier clerk/store keeper technical (clerk/SKT) and soldier technical.

The eligible candidates have been asked to register and apply online at www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. The registration will be open from September 9 onwards candidates who have registered earlier successfully are required to only apply again  with their existing user ID and password.

TRIBAL WOMEN HAVE WIDE KNOWLEDGE OF AGRICULTURE: GOVERNOR

Panaji: Aug. 28, 2016 … The Governor of Goa, Dr ( Smt.) Mridula Sinha asserted that tribal women have enough potential of agricultural knowledge which needs to be enhanced  further with modern techniques of agriculture and adequate support. Their endeavor in farming will definitely help to increase farm production and  thereby making them self reliant as well, she added.

Smt. Sinha was speaking as the Chief Guest at Canacona Farmers Meet organized for Distribution of Planting Material of Horticultural Crops to tribal farmers under Tribal Sub Plan Programme (Launched by ICAR) at Ela Old Goa recently.

Smt. Sinha further said that she was happy to know about tremendous response from tribal women in undertaking farming with the support of ICAR. She advised them to nurture plantation with proper care, avail the benefit of agricultural schemes and work to enhance the agricultural scenario of the nation.

Director of ICAR, Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh in his welcome address said that the ICAR strives to reach technology to the farmer to enable them to undertake scientific and mechanized farming for increasing farm production. He said ICAR imparts training to farmers make the farmers accessible to new techniques of farming. Provides financial, logistic support to St farmers in the state. In order to provide self employment among tribal women ICAR also encouraged women to undertake farming activities.

The Director of Agriculture Shri Ulhas Pai Kakode in his address lauded the initiatives of ICAR taken to encourage agricultural activities among the farmers groups in Canacona.  ICAR has been instrumental in encouraging agricultural activities there by providing gained self employment to many youths, he informed.

Shri A.R. Desai, Senior Scientist ICAR in his address shared his experiences of work with various Agricultural Groups of ST people from Canacona Taluka during last three years.

The Members of various Farmers groups, Self Help groups which   includes Shri Kushta Velip Smt. Sumitra Velip, Shri Ashok Velip, Smt. Laxavati Velip, Shri Dhillan Velip, all lauded the efforts and support and logistic provided to boost agricultural  activities,  production  in Canacona  taluka.

The Governor on this occasion also released annual report of the Institute and awarded cash prize of 3lakhs to Shree Taleshwar Farmers Group for enhanced production of turmeric.

Dr. Ramkripal Sinha Spouse of the Governor, Staff of ICAR, farmers from Canacona attended the function.

The Governor and other dignitaries handed over plants   the saplings of nutmeg, black pepper,   coconut, mango and cashew grafts to members of various groups of farmers.   

Dr. Priya Devi, Scientist ICAR compered the function and also proposed the vote of thanks.

TRIBAL NOMINATIONS INVITED TO WITNESS R.DAY PARADE

Panaji: August 26, 2016 …. The Government of  India  invited two Tribal Representatives one male and one female from the any of the scheduled Tribes members from backward Tribal communities preferably from BPL in the state to witness the Republic Day Parade and Celebration, 2017 at New Delhi.

The Scheduled Tribe person of Goa state whose age is not over sixty years and interested to witness Republic Day Parade, 2017 at New Delhi may submit their nominations with details such as, Name of the Tribal Applicant, Date of Birth/Age, Fathers Name, Mothers Name, Husbands/ Wifes Name,  Full Residential Address, Contact No, Tribes to which he/she belongs(Caste certificate to be enclosed) and Family income from all sources.

Only two persons belonging to ST communities, one male and one female will be selected to witness Republic Day Parade, 2017 at New Delhi. The selected person has to represent themselves in the Traditional Attires and is required to stay in Delhi from January 22, 2017 to February 2, 2017.

The Expenditure on travel by second class railway from Goa to Delhi and back as well as food accommodation will be borne by State Government.
