PLATOGRAPHY PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP BY SHRI AJIT SEAL CONCLUDES

Panaji:  September 08, 2016 …. The workshop on Platography Printmaking conducted by Shri Ajit Seal Senior Printmaker of India and the head of Department of Graphic Art at Kala Bhavan –Visva Bharati Shantiniketan, West Bengal concluded on August 29, 2016 at the Graphic Studio, Sanskruti Bhavan, in Panaji.

This was the first workshop of the Printmaking Workshop series organized by Directorate of Art and Culture.

The Director of Art and Culture, Shri Prasad Lolayekar was the Chief Guest for the function. In his address to the gathering he informed that the directorate had taken the initiative to organize a series of printmaking workshops designed to benefit practicing fine artists and student of Fine Arts to learn various new and advanced processes of graphic printmaking for which the fully equipped Graphic Studio has been set up at Sanskruti Bhavan in Panaji.

The resource person at the workshop, Shri Ajit Seal appreciated the efforts of the department. During the course of the seven days workshop, attended by fourteen practicing fine artists and six students of Fine Arts, Ajit demonstrated the process of advance printmaking medium of  Platography Printmaking .

Shri. Ryan Abreu and Kum. Riya Gaonkar, participants at the workshop shared their experiences.

Assistant Cultural officer, Shri Siddharth Gaitonde presented the vote of thanks while Shri Yogish Joshi compered the programme.

ENTRIES INVITED FOR STATE LEVEL PHOTO CONTEST

Panaji : September 7, 2016The Department of Information and Publicity has organised State Level Photo Contest.

This competition has been organised under the Goa State Photo Contest and Exhibition Scheme 2016 and has two sections with different subjects.

In the 1st category will carry pictures related to Architecture of Goa or undiscovered Goa, however 2nd category is of Infrastructural Development in Goa (The Development taken place in Goa).

Prize of Rs. 10,000/- will be given to first winner of this competition in both category. Second prize will be of Rs. 8,000/-in each category and also third prize will carry Rs. 6,000/-, while five consolation prizes of Rs. 500/- each will also be presented. Certificates will be presented to the best entries.

Photographs will be used for exhibition and other publications of the Department and Government of Goa.

Each entry should carry author’s name, nationality, postal address, mobile number, telephone numbers, e-mail address on the back of the photographs in Block Letters. Technical details such as  Camera used should be sent along with the entry.

Mobile images will not be considered for the entry. A brief of the photograph and bio-data of the photographer not more than 100 words each should be attached with the entry.

A certificate that all photographs are the work of original nature and taken by the entrant himself/herself is to be enclosed by the entrants. Entrants are required to send a soft copy along with photograph of high resolution.

The Entrants need to submit Colour prints in 8 x 12 size and can send maximum number of 4 different photographs in each section. There is no entry fee, No age bar and No qualification required for participating in the contest.

Individuals who are born in Goa or and residents for 15 years in Goa will be given preference under this Scheme, though the scheme does not bar others, who are residents of the State of Goa at least 15 years prior to the application under this Scheme.

 Latest residence certificate will be the proof of document which will be required to be submitted by the entrants.

 Last day for submission of entries is up to September 30, 2016, The prizes to the winners will be presented at the National Press Day function on November 16, 2016.

The entries should be superscribed with the words: “Entries for the Goa State Photo Contest and Exhibition” and to be addressed to the Director of Information and Publicity, 3rd Floor, Udyog Bhavan, Panaji, Goa.

Entries recorded after the closing date will not be entertained. It is also informed that pictures shot with drone shall not be accepted for the competition.

GOA’S FIRST CHAPEL DEDICATED TO ST. TERESA OF CALCUTTA INAUGURATED AT CHORAO

Inspired by Mother Teresa’s life and her work the village leaders have committed themselves to put their own and community resources to the best use in service of humanity in coming days in our village of Chorao-Madel. Today’s inauguration of this chapel marked the beginning of this long journey.

CHIEF MINISTER GREETS PEOPLE OF GOA ON CHATURTHI

Panaji: September 5, 2016 ….. Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar has extended his greetings and best wishes to people of Goa on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

 The Chief Minister in his message has said, I extend my personal greetings and compliments to the people of Goa on the occasion of Chavath. The sacred event of Ganeshotsav is a moment of great pride for all of us.

In his message, Shri Parsekar  said, “Goa’s most-awaited festival of  “Chavoth”  has arrived. Lord Ganesha is an eternal deity, worshiped at the beginning of all important events. He is hailed as the remover of all obstacles. This is a special time when family and friends get together to celebrate this auspicious occasion.

 Lord Shri Ganesh, the deity of wisdom and prosperity inspires to do the best and creative things in life.

 The Chief Minister has wished prosperity in every family and urged people to celebrate the festival with joy, fervour and glorious tradition of harmony and goodwill. “May lord Ganesh bestow his eternal bliss, peace and contentment” he added.

CM EXTENDS GREETINGS TO TEACHERS ONTEACHERS DAY

Panaji: September 04, 2016 …. Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar has extended warm greeting to the teaching community of Goa on the occasion of   55th Teachers’ Day celebration.

The Chief Minister Shri Parsekar in his message says: 5th September is the birthday of late Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, our former President, who was highly learned, distinguished teacher, a renowned educationist and a philosopher.

Since time immemorial, teacher has been revered as a role model, who shaped the lives of young and budding students and enlightened their minds. On this day, our teachers` should strive to achieve the best for students and Society.

While celebrating Teachers’ Day, we respectfully pay homage to late Dr. S.  Radhakrishnan and recall the monumental role played by teachers as builders of the Nation.

On this occasion, “I appeal to the teaching community of Goa, to draw inspiration from Dr. S. Radhkrishnan and discharge their duties, with a renewed sense of dedication and commitment. I extend my greetings and felicitations to all the teachers of the State of Goa and wish them all a Happy Teachers Day, the Chief Minister concludes  in his message.

APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR PANEL OF TRANSLATORS

Panaji : September 3, 2016 …. The Directorate of Official Language intends to restructure the existing Panel of Translators, in order to enable various Government Department, to outsource the translation work of welfare schemes, Citizens Charters, Statutory documents, State/Central Acts and Rules and other allied material meant for information of general public.

 In this context, the Directorate of Official Language has invited applications from eligible graduate persons desires to incorporate for the following  panel and subject as under:

          Panels of Private translators from English to Konkani and vice versa, translators from English to Marathi and vice versa, translators from English to Hindi and vice versa and Panel of Private translators from English to Portuguese and vice versa.

 The interested persons are requested to submit the requirement for the above panel is prescribed such as educational qualification certificate, date of birth, 15 years residence /domicile certificate, Identity proof, experience certificate, if any and any other relevant information related to Empanelment of Translators.

  those interested persons who fulfill the above criteria may forward their applications upto September 30, 2016 in the prescribed form available in the Directorate of Official Language alongwith the self attested copies of the documents to the Director, Directorate of Official Language, Junta House, Panaji. The persons who are employed should submit their applications through proper channel.

TWO CLEANEST VILLAGES IN GOA TO GET RS. 50,000 EACH UNDER SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN

Panaji : September 2, 2016 …… In order to effectively implement Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the villages, the Governor of Goa Dr. (Smt.) Mridula Sinha, who is also the brand ambassador for this national programme has announced Rs. 50,000/- each to two cleanest villages, one in South Goa and another in North Goa, by September 2017.

The rewards will be presented to the concerned Village Panchayats on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2017, at Raj Bhavan. In this connection the Chief Secretary has been requested to send a communication to all the Village Panchayats so that they can rejuvenate their activities.

The Chief Secretary has also been requested to form two Committees, preferably under the Chairmanships of the two District Collectors to survey and recommend the names of two cleanest villages qualifying for the awards by September 15, 2017.

Earlier, the Governor had announced Rs. 1.00 lakh to the cleanest city among Panaji, Mapusa, Ponda, Margao and Vasco. The award will be presented to the concerned Municipal body on December 19, on  Goa Liberation Day at the At-Home Reception at Raj Bhavan.

DDSSY SCHEME LAUNCHED

Panaji: Sept. 1, 2016 …. Maintaining that the State Government is committed to provide better health facilities to the people of Goa, the Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant  Parsekar said and added that an amount of Rs. 4500 crores will be spent to construct Superspeciality hospitals in the State. The Government, he said has already initiated efforts to ensure that the benefit of health care facilities are availed by rural populace on par with urban population.

The Chief Minister was speaking after launching the unique Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY), a scheme to provide universal Health cover through Insurance for the entire resident population of Goa in the distinguished presence of Dy. Chief Minister Shri Francis D’ Souza, MLA and Chairman EDC, Shri Siddharth Kuncolienkar, Shri Sudhir Mahajan, IAS, Secretary, Health, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Dr. Sanjiv  Dalvi, Director Health Services, Dr. Pradeep Naik, Dean GMC at function held at Institute Menezes Braganza hall, Panaji, today.

The Chief Minister said DDSSY would cover entire resident population of the State, residing Goa for five years and more. He said benefits under this Scheme are provided on a cashless basis to the beneficiaries upto the limit of their annual coverage i.e. cover upto Rs. 2.5 lakhs per annum for a family of three or less members. Cover upto Rs. 4 lakhs for a family of four and more members. The Insurance benefits can be availed individually or collectively by members of the family besides these, facilities will be available at the doorsteps in rural areas with the nearest private hospital and people may not travel long distances. The Specialized services not available in Government hospital can be availed from private hospital wherever available in Goa or outside the State, he added.

The Chief Minister who presented consent letters to 19 private hospitals empanelled under scheme on the occasion for the welfare of the people of the State and said that this was the endeavour of Government and the launching of DDSSY is decisive step in this direction. Government, he said is spending 100 crores in health sector for providing health infrastructure so that the benefit are derived by the people of Goa. Efforts, he said will be made to see that Goa emerges as a medical hub in the Country.

Dy. Chief Minister Shri Francis D’ Souza in his address said DDSSY was launched on Goa Statehood Day  May 31, 2016  and the benefits of the scheme will be made available to the population of Goa from the September 1, 2016. He said if there are discrepancies in scheme will be modified to make it effectively operative.

The Dy. Chief Minister said the notion of the people is that the private hospitals are providing better treatment facilities as against the Government run hospitals. In this context he said this scheme will give scope for competition as the DDSSY scheme has been made operational by empanelling 19 private hospitals in the State.

The Dy. Chief Minister said the Government has deposited an amount of 14 crores with the Insurance Company for the implementation of the scheme.

CM HIGHLIGHTS ROLE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS

Panaji: Sept. 1, 2016 …. Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant  Parsekar has said that the role of the Physical Education teacher is very important as he strives to inculcate different social values like sense of sportsmanship, team spirit, unity, togetherness etc. He acts as a guide and mentor, of the students and to encourage and motivate children to be active in life, he added.

 Shri Parsekar was speaking after inaugurating state Seminar for Physical Education Teachers for Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools on “Role of Stakeholders for promotion of sports and games organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs in collaboration with all Goa Higher Secondary Schools Physical Education teachers Associations (PETA) at Institute Menezes Braganza hall, Panaji, today.

 Shri Parsekar said that Government has given more thrust for strengthening adequate infrastructure for schools in the state. He said, compared to other schools in the country the infrastructure provided to schools in Goa is far better. He said, the physical education teacher shoulders unique responsibilities in the school physical activity programms to ensure that students remain physically active.

Shri Siddharth Kuncokienkar, MLA and Chairman of EDC speaking on the occasion appealed to the teaching community to promote yoga in schools for the wellbeing of younger generation. He Shri Kuncokienkar referred to the proposed Panaji smart city and said initiatives will developing  jogging track, walking parks will be taken to the benefit the public..

Chief Minister felicitated to Shri Ankush Prabhu, Physical Education teacher of VVS Lad High School Physical Education teacher and Shri Vinod Dhamaskar, Physical Education teacher of R. M. Higher Secondary School, Margao by presenting mementos, shawl and sriphal on the occasion.

Shri V. M Prabhudesai, Director of Sports welcomed the guests. Shri S.A Haldankar Asst. Director proposed the vote of thanks.  

STREET VENDORS PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN SOCIETY

Panaji: August 31, 2016  … The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) recently organized a one day workshop for all municipal councils in state with the help of experts from the Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (RCUES), Hyderabad  

The Mission Director for the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) Mr. Elvis Gomes who is also the Director of Urban Development Department and Member Secretary, GSUDA in his inaugural address said that Street Vendors play an important role in society and that despite the Supreme Court directions and the mandate in the Street vendors Act 2014, municipalities had failed to address the problem of the street vendors  and it was time to organize the street vendors as stipulated in the Act, offer them the protection and include them in the process of development. He recalled that after the High court order in 1997, large number of street vendors were displaced and councils had failed to rehabilitate them despite the assurance given in the High Court. He further stated that it was high time that we make best use of the provisions contained in the Act to give a sense of security to vendors and organize them in specially designated vending zones.

          The Research Officers from RCUES Mr. Rama Rao and Mr. Ernest Leslie guided the participants in the preparation of city Street Vendors Plan, GIS Mapping, street vendors survey, profiling,  making identity cards and the financial incentives available under NULM. They also showed that properly organized street vendors are an asset to the society and if given an opportunity, they can rise above their poverty status.
