LEGAL LITERACY CAMP AND CLINIC HELD

Panaji : October 21, 2016 …. The North Goa District Legal Services Authority, Panaji conducted Legal Literacy Camp on the topics Succession Law Consumer Protection Act, Entitlement of Legal Aid, at Neura Village Panchayat Hall.

Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, North Goa Shri. B.P. Deshpande inaugurated the legal literacy camp and clinic.

Secretary ( Judicial Officer ) Smt. Shabnam Shaikh while speaking on behalf of District Legal Services Authority on the topic entitlement of free legal aid and brought to the notice of the members present about the work and activities that DLSA conducts. brought to the notice of the members present about the work and activities that DLSA conducts.

 Smt Shaikh further  also stated that the matters in Lok Adalat gets disposed faster and that not only the cases pending in the Courts are referred to Lok Adalat but also the pre-litigation matters where there is dispute but has not reached the Court can be decided before the Lok Adalats and she  explained to the public Sec. 12 of Legal Services Authority Act. As per this section poor people are entitled for free legal aid. The woman and child are also entitled for free legal aid irrespective of their financial capacity. She further stated that members of SC and ST are also entitled for free legal aid.  If matters are settled at the Lok Adalats the litigations will be relieved of their tension and the pendency of cases in Courts will also come down she added..

Advocate Sudin Usgaonkar spoke on the succession law prevailing in Goa. He explained the distribution of the Estates in case of death of any one of the spous. Dr. Nagesh Kolvalkar spoke on Mundkar and tenancy law. Advocate Harsha Naik spoke on Consumer Protection Act. Clinic was open to the public senior Advocate Sudin Usgaonkar, Advocate Iftikha Agha, Advocate Ashwin Bhobe, Advocate Vinoj Daniel, Advocate Shivam Dessai, Advocate M. Menezes, Advocate M. Nazareth, Advocate U.V. Timble, Advocate A. Costa, Advocate S. Dhond, Advocate Rohan Dessai were present for the clinic to solve difficulties of the public.

NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH EXAM ON NOV. 6

Panaji : October 20, 2016 …. State Council of Educational Research and Training, Alto-Porvorim, Goa will conduct the State Level National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) 2017 for Std. X and National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme Examination (NMMSSE) 2016-17 for Std. VIII at twelve taluka centres in the State of Goa on Sunday November 6, 2016 from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.

The venues of the Examination are Our Lady of Grace High School, Bicholim in Bicholim Taluka, Dnyanprassarak Vidyalaya, Mapusa, Bardez in Bardez Taluka, Government Higher Secondary School, Pernem in Pernem Goa, Our Lady of Lourdes High School. Valpoi, Sattari in Sattari Taluka, Mary Immaculate Girls High School, Panaji Goa, A.J. De Almeida High School, Ponda Goa, Loyola High School, Union High School, Sanguem in Sanguem Taluka, Shri. Mallikarjun Vidyalaya High School, Canacona in Canacona Taluka, Savodaya Education Society’s High School, Curchorem, Government Primary School, Tamsoda, Dharbandora, Regina Mundi High School, Chicalim, Vasco Goa.

 The seat numbers and the Admission cards (Hall Tickets) for the above examinations are made available in the office of the A.D.E.I. of all talukas.

 The Heads of the schools are requested to collect the same from the office of the A.D.E.I. of respective taluka. The candidates should be present at the venue of examination at least half an hour before the commencement of the Examination.

GOVERNOR TO HOLD MEETING OF PETROL PUMP DEALERS

Panaji : October 20, 2016 … The Hon’ble Governor, Dr. (Smt.) Mridula Sinha, who is the nominee of Hon’ble Prime Minister for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, will address the Petroleum Company representatives and the petrol pump dealers in Goa in a meeting of Raj Bhavan on October 21, 2016.

This meeting will be held in order to discuss and seek their support and assistance to achieve the objectives of this national mission.

This is yet another meeting being held by the Governor on this subject in continuation of the earlier meetings which she had with various groups, such as, voluntary organization, hoteliers, industrialists, doctors/hospital authorities, real estate developers, self-help groups, Principals of colleges, headmasters, religious leaders, councilor sand chairpersons of Corporation and Municipal Council, Sarpanchas, heads of Central and State Government Departments, with whom she had fruitful discussions and whose response has been quite encouraging.

Similarly Governor will be also addressing Headmasters of Secondary Schools and Principals of Higher Secondary Schools on October 26 , regarding Swachh Bharat initiative and will give suggestions to enlighten the students about the relevance and importance of cleanliness and to motivate them to actively participate in this national mission.

PRIME MINISTER WELCOMES INVESTMENT FROM BRAZIL

Panaji : October 19, 2016 …. Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, whole heartedly welcomed Business opportunities from Brazil. While Welcoming Brazilian companies to invest in India, Prime Minister expressed the confidence that India can be a valuable partner in this regard.

On concluding day of BRICS Summit 2016,  Prime Minister Shri Modi today marked his press statement after  Bilateral meeting between India and Brazil along with President of Brazil Shri. Michel Temer. During this Event four important MOUs were Exchanged between Govt. of Brazil and India.

Treaties towards cooperation in area of Pharmaceutical products, Agriculture, were exchanged  among both countries.  Prime Minister further said, “I  am honored to welcome President Michel Temer to India. I am delighted that Goa with its common cultural Portuguese heritage is part of his maiden visit to India.

Though separated by geography, Brazil and India are natural partners linked by common values of democracy, rule of law and shared aspirations for development, peace and prosperity. President Temer as a foremost constitutional expert understands and appreciates this well. This visit takes place as both countries mark a decade of our strategic partnership. The world has changed in these ten years. The bilateral relations between India and Brazil have grown for the better.`

Prime Minister said ,  Brazil is among our most important economic partners in Latin America, and expressed his happiness  that India and Brazil have finalized the text of a bilateral investment agreement. It will provide much needed momentum to increased bilateral business and investment linkages. We have taken note of the priority that President Temer attaches to reviving the domestic economic agenda in Brazil,  he reiterated.

Prime Minister Shri. Modi  further in his statement  focused upon Support from Brazil as regard to  facilitating greater market access and investment opportunities for Indian products and companies. And Also  thanked the   President of Brazil Shri.  Michel Temer’s positive consideration. `We have also made progress in opening  new areas of cooperation during this visit in drug regulation, agricultural research and on cyber security issues.

Prime Minister  deeply appreciated  Brazil’s support for India’s actions in combating terrorism. “We agreed that the world must come together to fight this menace without distinction or discrimination. We will continue to work with Brazil as an important partner in early adoption of the Comprehensive Convention Against International Terrorism (CCIT) at the United Nations. We thank Brazil for understanding India’s aspiration for membership of the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group.“ Prime Minister Said.

While President of Brazil Shri. Michel Temer in his address said that Brazil is looking forward to further strengthen the partnership in economical growth and will promote many areas of investment in India. He also mentioned that Brazil is encouraging growth of public Utility services, where by India can be benefitted too. President of Brazil Shri. Temer called his visit to India was very fruitful, as this meeting relaunched Strategical Partnership of the both countries,  he Said.

 While countries Participated In BIMSTEC Summit held last night, unanimously condemned terror attacks and activities which promotes terrorism in the BIMSTEC region. All the leaders of nations repeatedly emphasized upon importance to combat terrorism.  In this Summit bilateral meeting held between Nepal and Bangladesh.  In BIMSTEC Summit, leaders of the nations largely divulged upon economic cooperation in the areas of 14 sectors, like Technologies, exports etc.

CM EXPRESSES GRATITUDE TO PEOPLE FOR SUPPORT AND COOPERATION IN MAKING BRICS A GRAND SUCCESS

Panaji: October 18, 2016 …. Chief Minister Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar has expressed gratitude to the people of Goa and especially South Goa for extending their support and cooperation in making the BRICS and BIMSTEC Summit a grand success.

The Two-day BRICS Summit and the BIMSTEC outreach Meet hosted by the state of Goa concluded successfully said the Chief |Minister. Further he said, this was the 8thprestigious International Summit wherein Heads of BRICS countries-Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and leaders from BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectorial Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries- Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal participated.

Prior to the commencement of the BRICS Summit, the state government laid emphasis on developing adequate Infrastructure as regard to improving and widening of road networks, illumination of streets, cleanliness measures which included beautification of the Colva junction and development of roads along the National Highway said the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister further said, hosting BRICS Summit was a challenge which the State Government converted into an opportunity by creating permanent infrastructure which will be useful for the state of Goa in the long run. In addition to this, the Government with the support of people was able to increase mobile connectivity by installing necessary mobile towers in low-connectivity areas which is a step towards development.

Chief Minister Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar thanked Goans for their support in making this international event success which has put Goa on the International Map for scheduling similar top-level International Summits Chief Minister concluded.

INDIA TRANSFORMED INTO ONE OF THE MOST OPEN ECONOMIES IN THE WORLD: PM

Panaji : October 17, 2016 …. Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi said that  the Government has undertaken substantial reforms in the last two years to streamline and simplify governance, especially doing business in India. He said, we have moved up in almost all global indices that measure such performances and the results are visible.

 In his address at the meeting with the BRICS Business Council in Goa, Shri. Modi said that India has been transformed into one of the most open economies in the world today. 

 Promoting economic and commercial engagement has been a fundamental  impulse in the creation of BRICS said Prime Minister Shri. Narendra  Modi. He further said, it was encouraging to see the BRICS Business council take healthy shape three years after its setup. The Council’s work holds much promise for expansion of trade and business among BRICS countries” the PM added.

            The new development bank  has achieved progress in very short time and China stands ready for newer opportunities to invest in the BRICS bank as well as the countries.

 Prime Minister expressed happiness about the proceedings of BRICS Business Council and said is matching priorities of ease of doing business, dismantling trade barriers, promoting skills development, establishing manufacturing supply chains and infrastructure development.

 With this bank , we shall work together to foster good relations and set an example in the world economy said Chinese President, Shri Xi Jinping.

 The South African President, Shri Jacob Zuma said that  BRICS is a commitment to cement business ties.  It’s  a  platform to strengthen our economy. It’s true catalyst in the growth of all the countries in terms of infrastructure, electricity generation, oil and other supplies. South Africa will look forward to straighten these ties with the help of the new development bank.

 President of  Brazil, Shri Michel Temer  said that  Brazil is very optimistic about its economy and BRICS is a major step and a commitment for its betterment. It will surely increase growth and employment in all the member states. Business will be empowered. Bureaucracy will be strengthened.

 The BRICS Business Council was established way back in 2013. The objective of creating the Council was to platform which will promote and strengthen business, trade and investment ties amongst the business communities of the five BRICS countries.

 



BRICS BEGINS IN GOA, STRENGTHENS INDO-RUSSIAN TIES WITH 16 AGREEMENTS AND 3 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Panaji, October 16, 2016 …. The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and Russian President, Shri Vladimir Putin passed sixteen agreements and three announcements on Saturday at the 8th ongoing BRICS Summit in Goa.

The leaders passed sixteen agreements on different issues like defence, nuclear power, finance etc.

In his statement, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi said
that the agreements and announcements will strengthen the ties between the two nations. “The relationship with Russia adds stability and substance to our country. This focused journey clearly establishes the special, precious and strategic nature of our partnership. We shall work together for deeper defense and financial ties,” the PM further said

The Prime Minister said that the highly productive outcome of the
meeting clearly established the special and privileged nature of
partnership. Further he told that they also lay the foundations for
deeper defence and economic ties in years ahead. The agreement on
manufacturing of Kamov 226T Helicopters, construction of frigates,
acquisition and building of other defence platforms are in synergy
with India’s technology and security priorities. They also help us
achieve the objective of Make in India. We have also agreed to work on an annual military Industrial conference that will allow stakeholders on both sides to institute and push collaborations. This project is a new chapter in the long history of strong and diverse defence partnership that both sides can take much pride in,” Prime Minister added.

The Summit also witnessed a live video telecast of the laying of
the concrete foundation of the Kudankulam, nuclear power plants units -384 at Tamil Nadu. India also expressed gratitude to Russia for its unequivocal condemnation of the terror attacks on Uri Army base says the Foreign Secretary S.Jaishankar informed the media in a press briefing.

CAMP FOR THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED HELD AT PORVORIM

Panaji, October 15, 2016 …. The Office of the Electoral Registration Officer 09 Porvorim Assembly Constituency under the guidance of District Election Officer organized a special camp for the differently abled at 10 am at Sanjay Center for Special Education, Porvorim, on October 13, 2016.

The programme was graced by Shri Angelo Fernandes,  Collector North Goa, Shri Kapil Phadte, Electoral Registration Officer for Porvorim Constituency,  Mrs. U. Joshi, Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Shri Taha Haaziq,  Member Secretary for Sanjay Center for Special Education and Smt. Varsha Parab, Mamlatdar in Collectorate

The Collector Shri Fernandes highlighted the Election Commission of
India’s effort to reach out to all sections of society. He also
emphasised the need to vote ethically and to choose good leaders.
The Principal of the Sanjay Center for Special Education later

CENTRAL SECTOR SCHEME ON BLUE REVOLUTION

Panaji: October 14, 2016 …. Centrally sponsored Scheme implemented by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Government of India including NFDB Schemes have been restructured and merged and have been accorded approval under Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries.

The restructured schemes provides focused development and management of Fisheries, covering Inland Fisheries, Aquaculture, Marine Fisheries including deep Sea Fishing, Mari- culture and all activities undertaken by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB). Under Blue revolution Rs 9 crore has been allocated for the year 2016-17 for the State of Goa in Fisheries Sector. Accordingly Directorate of Fisheries has prepared the State Action Plan 2016- 17.

Blue revolution with its multi – dimensional activities, focuses mainly on increasing Fisheries production and activity from aquaculture and fisheries resources both Inland and Marine.

The objective under Blue Revolution are to increase the overall fish production in a responsible and sustainable manner for economic prosperity, to modernize the fisheries with special focus on new technology, to ensure food and nutritional security, to generate employment and export earnings and to ensure inclusive development and empower Fishers and Aquaculture farmers.

The schemes under Blue revolution includes financial assistance to traditional/ artisanal fishermen for procurement of FRP boats upto 10 m OAL as replacement for traditional/ wooden boats including net, inland Craft and Gear ( unit boats of appropriate size including fishing nets, fish and ice holding boxes etc; Motorization of Traditional Craft; safety of Fishermen at sea; cold rooms; ice pant; insulated truck; auto rickshaw with ice box; motorcycle with ice box; rejuvenation of Urban/ Semi Urban/ Rural lakes/ tanks for fish culture and \renovation of existing pond/ Tank (renovation and construction of farm) (Brackish water)
