Panaji :November 7, 2016 …. Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken suo-moto action about the news from the print media about vandalisation of hutments of Wanarmare families at Nirankal village near Ponda.

Two members Smt. Sujata  Bhatkar and Audrey Pinto visited the site and interacted with the children and their parents

           The Commission has taken serious note of the issue of child rights and will take up the matter on priority basis with the concerned authorities.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CASHEW AND COCOA INAUGURATED

Panaji, November 7, 2016 …. “The cashew crop is not a simple market, where turnkey solutions are available to be implemented. Its market is a cumbersome sequence of events. And so its farmers need the support of the government and the Goa Government has extended its support to its farmers by offering them minimum support prices for their crops,” said Shri R.K. Srivastava, Chief Secretary of Goa, while speaking at the inauguration of the national conference ‘Cashew and Cocoa: Production to Marketing’, at a city hotel in Panaji on Monday. It was organised by the Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Development and Department of Agriculture, Government of Goa.

Shri R.K. Srivastava expressed happiness that the conference was hosting not just policy planners and administrators but also progressive farmers. He explained further how even the banking sector were trying to help farmers through loans and schemes. “We will interact more with them to structure schemes for the benefit of the farmer. The Goa Government has already given smart cards or Krishi cards to its farmers so that they don’t have to face any problems of producing documents, again and again to avail of benefits.”

The Chief Secretary added, “There’s a need to provide farmers with one platform where they can get information on the latest technology for their crops, and also where they can integrate into a marketing network.”

 Dr Venkatesh Hubballi, Director, Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Development, said that the aim of the conference was to discuss confronting issues in production, processing and exporting of the cashew and cocoa crops and to discuss strategies for the future development of these crops in India.

Dr S.K. Malhotra, Commissioner for Agriculture and Horticulture, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, reminded everyone of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of need to double the income of farmers.  He said, “One way of doing that is focusing on high value crops like cashew, cocoa and spices.

A book on Cashews was released on the occasion and a souvenir commemorating the 50 years of the Cashewnut and Cocoa Development, Cochin was released. Farmers were felicitated from across India. Shri Rohan Joshi was felicitated from Goa.

Also present were Shri Ulhas B. Pai Kakode, Director, Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Goa, Shri Mankazana, Minister Counsellor South African Embassy, Dr C.Vasudevappa, Vice-Chancellor, University of Agriculture and Horticulture Sciences, Shimoga, Dr M. Gangadhar Rao, Director, DRC, Puttur, Dr P. Sundaran, Chairperson, Cashew Export Promotion Council of India.

Shri Shrikant Mone, Farm Superintendent Government Agricultural Farm, Codar, Ponda, compered the program.

NCC TRAINING CAMP UNDERWAY AT PORIEM

November 6, 2016 …. The 1 Goa Battalion NCC of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) is conducting its 10 day annual training camp at Shri Bhumika High School ,Porye, which commenced on November 3, 2016.

“A total of 500 cadets from 22 institutions are participating. The camp will conclude on November 12, 2016.

The camp got underway under the supervision of Col. Sanjay Nagi, Commanding Officer of 1 Goa Battalion NCC.

Col. Nagi , in his opening address briefed cadets on aim of ncc and highlighted the importance of character building, comradeship , secular  outlook , discipline, safety , security and ideals of selfless service . He said NCC is a largest youth organization in uniform and the world only youth organization run by the arms forces for the civil personnel.NCC cadets he said are look up with great respect because they are most discipline youth in India. He also added that NCC aims to make responsibility citizens for the state and the country.

Co. Nagi called upon the cadets to take proactive role in Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).

During the camp cadets will be trained in various activities and given exposure to real life military training such as drill, weapon training , firing , cultural and sports activities.

On second day of camp Mr. Amrut Singh , a snake rescuer conducted a snake awareness programme for cadets . During the camp various guests will guide students on various leadership traits and social awareness .

 Deputy Camp Commandant , Lt. Col Farooque Raza, Camp Adjutant Major Dr. Tushar Anvekar , Quarter master Major Dr. Sanjay Dessai , Training officer Major Dr. Shivaji Dharwardkar are also actively involved in training and conduct of Camp.

AWARENESS CAMPAIGN “ RTI ON WHEELS” DRIVE

Panaji: November 5, 2016 … Goa State Information Commission in collaboration with Mahiti Adhikar Gujarat Pahel (MAGP) has organized a RTI on Wheels drive to bring awareness of the Right of Information Act 2005 amongst the public and to enable the Public Authorities for taking steps for promoting its actions in conformity with the RTI Act

The vehicle is especially designed to conduct awareness programmes on RTI Act and has a projector, TV, public address system, and other multimedia equipments. This vehicle will be used to hold short outreach programmes for general public which started from November 5, 2016 and will go up to November 15, 2016. The programmes will be held in market on market day, on bus stands, near hospital, Mamlatdar office in the state.

The Goa state Information Commission is of the view that such a campaign will bring in the awareness of the RTI Act and a step to promote the actions of the information seekers and the public authorities in conformity with the RTI
Act.

ORIENTATION WORKSHOP BEGINS IN CITY

Panaji: November 5, 2016 …. The orientation workshop organized by the Directorate of Art and Culture in collaboration with Nirmala Institute of education was inaugurated at the hands of Shri Martins Denzil, Principal of Nirmala Institute of education recently.

Shri Ashok Parab, Dy. Director of Art and Culture and Smt. Dr. Rita Paes, Director of Nirmala Institute of Education were present on the occasion.

The ten days workshop will be covering vide range of topics like music for Value Education, Code of Ethics, Teachers and Counselors, Child Rights and Role of Teachers, Music and Personality Development, know who you are, Music as a Stress Buster, Motivation and Innovations in Music, How to be effective Music Teachers.

Ethics in the classroom and Gender sensitization will be also taken up by resourse persons which includes Dr. Rita Paes, Mr. Albertina Almeida, Dr. Mahesh Pai, Ms Juliana Lohore, Ms. Fredrika Cota, Fr. Clifford Castellino, Ms. Ann Barretto, Ms Eutemia Fernandes, Ms. Lucette Virgincar, Ms. Zina Varugis and Mr. Beethovan Fonseca.

PRINT MAKING WORKSHOP BY SHRI R.S. SHAM SUNDER

Panaji: November 5, 2016 … The Directorate of Art and Culture, Panaji, will be organizing a series of Printmaking Workshops at Graphic Studio, Sanskruti Bhavan, Panaji. The third workshop of the series will be on “Gum Etch Printmaking” which will be conducted by Shri R.S. Sham Sunder, from Bengaluru who is a Senior Printmaker of India and Retired Professor Department of Fine Art and S.N. School University of Hyderabad. This seven days workshop will be held from November 23 to 29, 2016 between 9.30 am to 5.30 pm at the Graphic Studio, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto Panaji.

Shri R.S. Sham Sunder will conduct a workshop on the advance medium of “Gum Etch Printmaking” . Only 15 to 20 practicing fine artists and fine Arts students of Goa who have specialization degree in Printing and students who are undergoing training in printmaking shall be selected to participate in the workshop. The participant must have practiced/worked in the medium of etching and lithography will be allowed to participate in this workshop.

The practicing artists/art students may register their willingness of participation for the workshop by filling a prescribed application form available at the office of Art and Culture, which will consist of a brief Bio-data and attachment of 10 photographs of artworks done in the printmaking subject.

The application form must be submitted on or before November 17, 2016 during working hours. The application received from the practicing artists/art students will be shortlisted. The participants selected for the workshop will be informed by the department.

CM REALEASES BROCHURE OF I CREATE GOA

Panaji: November 4, 2016 …. Chief Minister of Goa Shri Laxmikant Parsekar today formally released a brochure highlighting milestone activities and achievements of I create Goa, at Altinho Panaji, to mark the completion of Five years since its inception.

I create Goa is one of the twenty centres of I Create India,  a not for profit organisation with pan  India presence working to provide Entrepreneurship Development Training and Mentoring services to the marginalised sections of society like self help groups, unemployed youth, destitute women, transgender etc. and also for youth empowerment through its students oriented programs.  Since its inception it has created over 3000 entrepreneurs in different parts of the country.

I create Goa has reached out to over 2500 participants and has succeeded in creating and up skilling over ten entrepreneurs who are actively pursuing their business. I create Goa has been closely working with more than ten colleges to bring in awareness and equip students with necessary skills.

I Create Goa works with its sponsors such as Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Smart Link and other partner organisation. ELOCUTION COMPETITION ON NOV 16

Panaji: November 4, 2016 …. Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) as a part of its celebration of Child Rights Week is conducting an all Goa elocution competition on child rights issues for students of std. 8th and 9th for schools across Goa on November 16, 2016 between 2.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. at the Multipurpose hall, Directorate. of Art and Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji.

The elocution is in 4 languages (Marathi/Konkani/Hindi/English) and topics for the same are Education, Labour, Right to family, Adoption, Right to play, Right to leisure, Safe drinking water, Shelter, Nutrition, Hygiene and sanitation, Children with special needs. Every students will be given 3 minutes to present on topic selected by him/her.

GSCPCR has urged students to register with the office between 10.00 a.m to 1.15p.m. and 2.00 p.m to 5.00 p.m. on 0832-2421870 on all working days from Monday to Friday, last date for registration is November 14, 2016.

DRAWING AND POSTERS EXHIBITION AT PATTO

Panaji: November 3, 2016 …. Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) as a part of its celebration of child rights week is conducting exhibition of drawings and posters which the commission had conducted during its awareness programmes.

The exhibition will be held between November 11 to 18, 2016 at “Chitrakala hall” at Directorate of Art and Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji.

The exhibition is open for public from 10 am to 5 pm. Sunday will be closed.
