In its first public programme after taking over as the prime minister of the country Prime minister of india shri narendra modi would inaugurate the start up work for the 470 crores new mandovi bridge which would be constructed in a 24 months’ time said chief minister Manohar parrikar on Wednesday

prime minister narendra modi who would be in goa on Saturday at ins hansa in vasco would also interact with bjp booth level worker’s at goa university indoor stadium followed by inauguration for the start up work of new mandovi bridge at kala academy and later would have interaction with 100-150 invitees at a five star resort in the capital city

 Addressing media person’s chief minister manohar Parrikar said that most of the clearances for the new Mondovi bridge were on board and were expecting for the actual work to start by mid September

 Parrikar said the bridge was a four lane bridge with a distance of around 2.2 kms and would solve the problems of people from bardez area

 Commenting over his visit to Delhi chief minister Parrikar said that he had made courtesy visit to various minister of the modi led government and had while interacting with the central environment minister had specially spoke on issues like Kasturirangan report, buffer zone, green tribunal and other issues related to environment …

09/06/2014 …. The work for the construction of the new zuari bridge would commence by november to december said Pwd minister sudhin dhavilkar on Monday

Speaking to goanreporter pwd minister sudhin dhavilkar said that the work for the construction of the zuari bridge was going on at a faster pace and the selected consultancy services would submit its project report to the pwd department by end of this month and once going through the report government of goa would send its report to ministry of road, transport and highways who then would further take the action on zuari bridge

Commenting on the number of frequent roads accidents taking place at various parts of the state Dhavlikar said that he was also concerned towards the issue even when roads of the state were in a good condition specially after national and state highways being tarred and he was also of the opinion that each and every driver of the vehicle should take a note to drive cautiously considering all the moter vehicles rules and regulations

On asked if there was a need of a suspension of the licence of a vehicle driver found in rash and negligent driving Dhavlikar said that most of the motor vehicles rules and regulations were from 80’s and he had brought this to the notice of the earlier minister’s who were also of the opinion of changing of some of the motor vehicles rules like fines and all which in the pipeline …

Dhavilakar was also of the opinion that alteast two thousand fines should be charged for those violating traffic rules while driving the vehicles and if required even suspension of license for six months

07/06/2014 … Asking for an immediate cleaning of the coastal beaches from the oil spillage and tar balls menace President of the state congress party john Fernandes on Saturday asked the state government to direct Indian coast guard to carry out immediate cleaning of the beaches from such pollution which had created danger to marine life

Addressing media person’s gpcc president john Fernandes said that it was the duty of the indian coast guard to monitor Indian waters and also to prevent such disaster on state coastlines identifying the pilferage of oil spillage and check the leakages in high sea

Commenting over the issue of a golf course coming up in north goa Fernandes said that his party was against the ideas of the concerned golf company of lifting water from the water table which was deprive water for farmers from water table …

Fernandes said that his party was totally objecting towards conversion of green paddy fields in caranzalem in to huge buildings and gave a 24 hours deadline to state government asking to take action on government officers who gave permission to such illegal projects or else warned of filing criminal cases against the concerned state government department

Fernandes also stated that the construction of a new road along the Miramar donapaula road was highly objectionable as it was not fitting in to pwd manual and was done spending public-ex chequers money

In a way to give boost to tourism activities all round the year the state tourism minister dilip parulekar on Thursday said that the tourism department would welcome organizers who would like to hold events  like sunburn or supersonic in the state of goa in the tourism calendar year ….

It may be noted that events like sunburn which has been organized in the past few years and supersonic which had been organized in the last year had drawn a number of international event organizers to hold events of electronic dance music festivals in goa which the concerned organizers had proposed of having it during the available dates of the state tourism calendar year …

Speaking to goan reporter tourism minister dilip parulekar said that the state government intention was to see goa being known as a happening place for 365 days in a years and attracting tourism in the state his department was open for events like sun burn or supersonic being held round the year

Parulekar said that internationally acclaimed companies had approached his department for organizing tourism related activities in the state and state government would definitely give them guidance required for organizing the activities

Parulekar also stated that his department main focus was to increase international as well as domestic tourist flow in the state of goa …

04/06/2014 … In order to tackle any unforeseen incidents during the upcoming monsoon season the directorate of panchayats on Wednesday said that all the village panchayats of the state have been asked to carry out its pre monsoon village panchayats works or else action would be taken by the directorate of panchayats on the concerned village panchayats …

It may be noted that every year the directorate of panchayats do instruct state panchayats to take up the work of cleaning nullahs and storm water drains and also ask them to indentify landslide-prone areas and to undertake work to avoid landslides during the monsoon along with low lying areas which do get flooded with rain water

Locals from some of the villages of the state revealed that their village panchayats, till date, had not taken up pre-monsoon works due to which rain water had got accumulated on some of their village roads in the absence of proper drains. 

Sawant said the pre-monsoon works to be taken up by the municipalities or panchayats are the routine works, which in normal course do not come under the purview of any election code but still Yet, works are delayed. 

Sawant also agreed that some panchayats in the state were not serious about taking care of the pre monsoon works in their concerned panchayats

02/06/2014 …. Goa government has imposed 61 day fishing ban in the state between June 1 and July 31, 2014 in a bid to conserve fish, Director of fisheries Dr Sharmila Monteiro informed goareporter.

The state government has already issued a notification stating that the government having regard to the need to conserve fish, hereby prohibits fishing by fishing vessels fitted with mechanical means of propulsion and by means of trawler nets and purse-seine net, except fishing by registered motorized canoes fitted with outboard or inboard motors of up to 10 hp capacity a means of propulsion using gill nets only, along with the sea coast of the state of Goa and the territorial waters of the state, for a period of 61 days from June 1 to July 31,2014.

All the fishing jetties across the state would be sealed by government officials during this period.

Dr monteiro said that the ban on fishing along Goan waters during  the monsoon would be strictly enforced with the help of the Navy and the Coast Guard so as to ensure that vessels from the neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka do not venture in Goan territory during the ban period.

Dr monteiro also stated that the state fisheries department would also have a new patrol vessel by the state of next fishing ban in the state
