GOVERNMENT TO CELEBRATE AMBEDKAR JAYANTI ON APRIL 14

  Panaji: April 13,2017 …. The   Directorate of Social Welfare held a meeting   today   to review the preparations for the celebration of 126th Birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The meeting was chaired by the Director Shri S.V. Naik. Shri Sudesh Gaude Asst.  Director  co-ordinated the meeting.

          Chief Minister Shri  Manohar Parrikar will be the Chief Guest for the function. , Minister for Tourism Shri Manohar T. Azgaokar  Local MLA Shri Siddharth Kuncalienkar, Mayor CCP Shri Surendra Furtado will be among others who will grace the function.

          The meeting discussed about the various aspects of the function .The officials concerned of various Government Offices, Representatives of Various SC organizations, NGOs, Social Workers attended the meeting.

DISTRICT MAGISTRATE NORTH ISSUES SEC 144 OF CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE

Panaji, April 13, 2017 … The first session of the Seventh Legislative Assembly of the State of Goa is convened from March 22, 2017 to March 24, 2017.  Hence, under section 144 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 assembly and gathering of five or more persons and taking out or organizing of processions, carrying of firearms or weapons of offences such as lathis, swords, daggers or spears, use of loudspeakers, shouting of slogans and burning of fire crackers near the petrol pumps and at the venues of meetings etc in any public place, street, road, square, thoroughfare, by –lane or in any open space within the radius of 500 metres around the Assembly Complex at Porvorim and the area under the jurisdiction of Panaji Police station is strictly prohibited.

          The above restriction shall not apply to public servants on duty and to bonafied marriage or funeral processions or any special occasion or occasions which in the opinion of the District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Sub Divisional Magistrate, are genuine and for which prior permission in writing has/have been obtained from the District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Sub Divisional Magistrate concerned.

This order has come into force from March 22, 2017- from 7.00AM to March 24, 2017 and will remain in force till the Assembly session is over.

NATIONAL SURVEY DAY CELEBRATED

Panaji : April 12, 2017 ….  Directorate of Settlement and Land Records, Panaji celebrated National Survey Day – 2017 by organizing a special programme at Menezes Braganza Hall here in city.

Present on the occasion were Revenue Minister, Shri. Rohan Khaunte, MLA, Shri. Siddharth Kuncolienkar, Shri. Venancio Furtado, Director, Settlement and Land Records, Smt. Dumiana Nazareth, Supritendent and Shri. Sabaji Shetye, District Collector – I, North Goa.

While addressing the gathering Shri. Rohan Khaunte said that the Government has a long vision with regards to State and development is the main agenda of it. “To make it a success every person in the system needs to play his role by putting efforts. Team work is very much important he said. Government system should be interactive and people friendly. Government have to be in pace with what the people demand and prove that Goa and Goans are step ahead in the Country,” he said.

MLA Shri. Siddharth Kuncolienkar congratulated the  staff members of Directorate of Settlement and Land Records for organizing such types of programme every year. He said that the  Directorate is doing a good job by opening offices on Taluka level which are easily accessible and caters needs of the public.

Shri. Venancio Furtado while welcoming the gathering said, National Survey Day has its own significance. This Directorate is doing work of preserving legacy. The work of detail resurvey of State will be taken up soon he said.

Retired staff members of the Directorate were felicitated on the occasion.

SALGAOCAR FC WIN BSA CUP 2017 IN MUMBAI

Panaji, April 11:::: Salgaocar FC reigned supreme in Mumbai, when they won the finals in the Bangali Sangha Ambarnath Tournament played in Ambarnath.

The Green Brigade played three matches in the tournament. The opening was against Abbas Union FC, Hyderabad who had two foreigners to strengthen their squad, but that did not bother Salgaocar FC when they took the field. Aslon Oliviera, Brian Masacarenhas and Suraj Hadkonkar scored for Salgaocars who won 3-0, which set the momentum for the their Semi Finals.

Salgaocar FC met Mumbai FC in the semi-finals which ended in a draw, and the penalty shootouts were introduced to declare the winner. Umesh Harijan, Suraj Hadkonkar, Clencio Pinto and Jovel Martins took responsibility for the kicks and made no mistakes in converting. Goalkeeper Bruno Colaco stood tall in between the frames denying two goals with great saves to put Salgaocar FC through to the finals beating Mumbai FC 4-1.

The Finals turned out to be a Goan Derby between the Goan Footballing Power Houses Salgaocar FC versus Dempo SC. The Greens dominated majority part of the match with beautiful game of play. Umesh Harijan and Pedro Gonsalves marshalled the mid-field with good combination play. The first half was played goalless. The second half was full excitement which saw goals and flashes of red cards. It was Pedro Gonsalves who opened the scoring in the finals with a sublime finish, leaving rivals keeper with no chance. It was late in the 80th minute when SFC goalkeeper Bruno Colaco brought down a Dempo man inside the box, the referee pointed to the spot and much to the surprise of everyone Bruno saw red. Beevan D’Mello stepped up to convert the chance and put Dempo on equal terms. Not long after the celebrations, Clencio Pinto of Salgaocars was brought down in the box and Pedro once again added his name to the score sheet making it 2-1. Pedro completed his hattrick in great style as he placed his shot well out from 25-30 yards which settled the game. Nixon Castanha was sent off for Dempo with a rash tackle. The Finals ended with a 3-1 victory in favour of the current Goan Champions Salgaocar FC.

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS IN VIEW OF ONGOING CONSTRUCTION WORK OF THIRD MANDOVI BRIDGE

Panaji : April 10, 2017 ….  District Magistrate North Goa has ordered temporary traffic arrangements in view of the ongoing construction work of third bridge across Mandovi River. The temporary traffic arrangements which are applicable from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. are as follows.

                    From 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. all the heavy, medium commercial goods vehicles will be diverted at Karaswada junction and Banastarim junction to proceed via Assnora- Bicholim to their respective destination.

During the restriction timings if the heavy, medium commercial goods vehicle carrying perishable or essential goods desires to proceed beyond Karaswada junction and Banastarim junction, they will be allowed only after seeking written permission from Traffic Headquarters, Altinho, Panaji and will have to paste the same on the windscreen. All the inter -state buses coming from Karaswada side will not be allowed to cross Hotel Green Park junction after 8.00 a.m. and they will have to curtail their journey at Mapusa itself.

                    This traffic arrangements will be effective till the completion of work.

DM NOTIFIES DESIGNATED LOCATIONS FOR PROTEST RALLIES

Panaji : April 9, 2017 …. District Magistrate, North Goa has ordered that the Campal Parade Ground and Azad Maidan, Panaji will be the two designated locations of organizing protest rallies, morchas, processions, hunger strikes, dharnas, agitations and other forms of protest in Panaji city and Porvorim

Any such activities taking place outside these specified locations will be treated as illegal and any person or persons violating this order is liable to be punished under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

 The Organizers will apply and get permission for organizing any of the activities mentioned hereinabove and will also obtain permission for using the two locations specified above from the authorities controlling the same.

No permissions will be granted to use the above specified locations on days when State function are schedule  

MICROWAVE COOKING WORKSHOP FOR KIDS AT SANSKRUTI BHAVAN, PANAJI

Panaji : April 8, 2017The Directorate of Art & Culture in joint collaboration with IFB, Ltd., Goa has organized a five days Microwave Cooking workshop for school children at Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji from April 24 to 28, 2017 from 2.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. The children in the age group of 8 to 16 years from Goa are eligible for this workshop. This workshop is organized in the summer vacation for the benefit of the students to learn the art of microwave cooking during their vacation period.

Maximum 50 participants will be accommodated on this workshop and they will be trained by the experts from Goa in the microwave cooking.

Interested participants are requested to collect the application forms from the Department of Art and Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji from April 10 to 18, 2017 during office hours and to submit the same by April 20, 2017.

Revenue Minister and Housing Minister visits Porvorim Market complex

Panaji : April 7, 2017 … Revenue Minister Shri Rohan Khaunte and Minister for Housing and Housing Board Shri Jayesh Salgaonkar recently visited the construction site of Market complex and ground at Porvorim.

Both the  Ministers assessed the ongoing work of the project which is in its secondary stage of completion. They assured the shop owners from the old market complex to look into their grievances sympathetically.

 The project provides ground and joggers park for senior citizens and amenities for small children and facility of table tennis in the adjourning building . The Minister also assured to complete the project as early as possible.

Shri Gupesh Naik ZP member, Shri TS Sawant  MD Housing Board, Shri RS Raikar Executive Engineer, Shri Luizinho Gomes JE and others were present on the occasion.

WE LOST THE THESPIAN IN INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC WHO DEVOTED HER LIFE FOR CLASSICAL MUSIC-GOVIND GAUDE

Panaji : April 6, 2017 ….  Shri. Govind Gaude, Minister for Art and Culture , in his condolence message has stated that Late Kishoritai Amonkar had created the workd of swar, taal, laya in the field of classical music and spread the name of the State of Goa all over the world.

In her sad demise the country and State of Goa has lost the legend in the classical music, who devoted her life for promotion and preservation of the Indian Classical Music.

             She was  senior and renowned artist of Jaipur Atrouli Gharana. Khayal, Thumari, Bhajan were her noted presentations for concerts. Hard work, continous riyaz and devotion to the music has influenced her singing. She was recipient of various awards such as Sangeet Natak  Academy, Padmabhushan, Sangeent Samrandni, Padmavibhushan. Sangeen Sounshodhan Academy etc. She was the legend  in the music not only of Goa but of whole country. The Minister said that her sad demise has shocked him.

                  May her soul rest in peace , he further stated.

COLLECTOR SOUTH HOLDS MEETING ON DIGITIZATION OF CABLE NETWORK

Panaji : April 5, 2017 ….  A meeting along with the Multi System Operators and Local Cable Operators was convened today by the Collector and District Magistrate, South Goa district in his office to ascertain and verify the status and plans of the Multi System Operators and Local Cable Operators regarding the circular issued by The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, New Delhi.

The circular which issued directions to all the Broadcasters, Multi System Operators and Local Cable Operators to ensure that no analogue signals are transmitted over the cable networks in Phase IV areas after March 31, 2017 failing which action would be taken against the defaulters as per the provisions of the Cable TV Act/Rules.

The Multi System Operators present during the meeting informed that 100% digitization has been done in their operating areas and further said that the status at the level of Local Cable Operators need to be verified and accordingly the detail reports/certificate submitted by April 10, 2017 to the District Magistrate, South Goa having complied with the directions of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

            The Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrates and the Taluka Mamlatdars of the South Goa District shall act strictly on the defaulters after April 10, 2017 by inspecting the operations of the Multi System Operators and Local Cable Operators and any violators found shall be dealt under the provisions of the Cable TV Act/Rules including sealing of the control rooms of the Cable Operators
