Robotic Workshop by Amardeep Natt, India’s Robot Dancing Superstar

29/08/2014 ….. Goa is all set to experience dance in its purest forms. Cecille’s Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) is organising a Robotic Workshop by India’s Dancing Superstar, Amardeep Natt, on 2nd, 3rd and 4th September 2014. The ‘Robotic Workshop’ will be held at the Don Bosco Oratory Hall, Panaji.

The Workshop will focus on ‘Robotic, Kill beat and freestyle dancing’. Participants will be fusing different styles of dance to the tunes of Bollywood and international music. There will be special session by Cecille Rodrigues, Dance India Dance Supermom and Amardeep Natt who would speak about Reality Shows ‘Tough Life to gain Fame’.

 ‘Zinda Robot’ aka Amardeep Singh Natt, made his fame through a unique style of dancing on one of the most popular Dance Reality show ‘India’s Dancing Superstar, where he featured in the Top Five. He is preparing to perform on the international stage and represent India.

To help cultivate the dance community in Goa, CAPA exclusively focuses on providing students and dance enthusiasts more than just dance classes and rehearsal space, by giving them new opportunities to get involved with dancing and contributing towards a healthy and fit community. CAPA has been involved in bringing to Goa various platforms to highlight new talent and dance techniques to make sure that local talent get the best training and ideas in the dance fraternity.

TILLARI REHABILITATION COLONY GETS GANESH CHATURTHI GIFT FROM POWER MINISTER

August 28, 2014 …. 11KV line of length one Kilometer has been erected to release supply to 200KVA Distribution Transformer Centre meant exclusively for releasing Power to the  Tillari Irrigation Rehabilitation Colony Sal Colony. The Power Department has built a  network of  low tension to supply power to the total 95 domestic consumers, as existing Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company’s conductors were very close to newly erected poles.

Total 142 poles of 7.5 mtr height and 38 poles of 9 mtrs are erected to complete the network of LT line. Approximately 5 Km length of LT Conductors were erected to resume the power supply to Tillari Irrigation Rehabilitation Colony. Departmental Engineers too worked very hard to complete said project in time bound manner.  

The residents has thanked the Power Minister for his efforts to provide them uninterrupted power supply.

Two Unlearning Unlimited Training Programs

29/08/2014 …. Two back-to-back learning opportunities with master trainers, Pravin Sabnis and Vividh Pawaskar, have been organised on Wednesday 3 September 2014. The workshops will be held at Training Hall, Inspectorate of Factory & Boilers, Altinho, Panaji.

The first workshop – Carpe Diem – will be conducted from 11 am to 1.30 pm by Pravin Sabnis, The program seeks to help learners reclaim the attitude and skill to manage time effectively and overcome procrastination. Mr Sabnis is a leading Life Coach with a passion to help people connect to their passion and potential. He is Founder President of Trainers’ Association – Goa, and has conducted over 1800 workshops for corporate and other teams over the last 16 years

The second workshop – Not Just Power Points – will be conducted from 2.30 pm – 5 pm by Vividh Pawaskar. The program gives practical tips to make an impact on audience using the latest audio visual tools and techniques. Mr Pawskar is technology expert with vast experience as ateacher and trainer. Founder President of ToastMasters – Margao, he has conducted over 900 workshops in the last 12 years.

LIC CELEBRATES INSURANCE WEEK, COMPLETES 58 YEARS

LIC is completing 58 years of  its service to the nation on 1st Sept. 2014.  LIC’s  Goa Divisional Office with its 11 Branches, 3 satellite offices, 3 Mini  Offices, Pension and Group Scheme unit and Customer Zone in the state of  Goa, will be  celebrating the 58th   Anniversary Insurance week from 1.9.2014 to 7.9.2014.

On 1st of September 1956, The Life Insurance Corporation of India ( LIC ) embarked upon its momentous journey in true spirit of serving the people and nation as a whole. Since then, it has spearheaded the financial and infrastructure development of the nation. The performance of LIC has been exemplary and it has been growing from strength to strength, be it customer base, agency network, branch office network, and the like. LIC has played a significant role in spreading life insurance among the masses and mobilization of people’s money for people’s welfare. Even after the entry of private insurers for more than a decade now, LIC continues to be the frontrunner in the industry in terms of the market share.

LIC had recently launched a new product viz., “Jeevan Rakshak” on 19th August 2014. This is a Non-linked, With Profits, Endowment Assurance plan which can be availed by the general public between the age group of 8 to 55 yrs. The plan is available for a term of 10 to 20 years.

On the launch day of the “Jeevan Rakshak” plan, Goa Division completed 868 Policies with 3 of its branches, viz., Bicholim, Panaji I & Panaji II completing more than 100 policies on a single day. With this performance Goa Division of LIC was ranked 2nd in the Western Zone comprising the States of Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa.

Further, the Hon’ble Finance Minister of Government of India, in his budget speech 2014-15 had announced the revival of “Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana” for citizens aged 60 years and above. In view of the same, LIC has re-launched “Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana” from 14th August 2014. The plan is  available for sale to General Public from 16th August 2014 to 14th August 2015. This is a Government subsidized scheme which shall provide an assured return of 9% p.a. payable monthly.

In the last financial year ending 31st March 2014, LIC as a whole insured 3.44 Crores of new Policies and settled Rs.91,186 Crores  as Claims to Claimants under 2.59 Crores policies.  LIC Goa Division completed 112866 Policies during the financial year 2013-14 & settled Rs. 391.49 Crores as Claims to the Policyholders. True to the spirit of nationalization, the Corporation has deployed its funds to the best advantage of LIC policyholders as well as for the community as a whole. National priorities and the obligation of reasonable returns to the policy holders are the main criteria of our investments.

 As part of the Insurance week celebrations, the inaugural ceremony will be held at LIC’s Divisional office premises, Jeevan Vishwas,  Patto, Panaji  on 1st September, 2014.    Many activities   such as saplings plantations at the hands of dignitaries, Health camp for children, Health cum Yoga talk  for the staff, Competitions for Agents, Drawing competitions for School Children, Quiz competitions for employees  etc  are fixed during the week.

     Special service Desks  will be opened in the branch offices to serve the customers , special drives for creating awareness of Insurance in rural areas will also be conducted, Customer Meets will also be held  during the week in our  offices.

The Government of Goa, through the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs has kept the draft Goa State Youth Policy open for perusal of all the concerned stakeholders and has requested the peoples’ representatives at various levels, Youth Clubs, Youth Organizations, NGO’s Educational Institution and the Youth of Goa in general to kindly go through the said Youth Policy and send in their valuable suggestions, if any, addressed to the Director, Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Campal, Panaji – Goa by way of letter or email on email address dsya.youthpolicy.goa@gmail.com on or before September 15, 2014.

The draft Goa State Youth Policy is available on the Sports Department website www.dsya.goa.gov.in and the Goa Government Website www.goa.gov.in.  

DISBURSEMENT OF GRIHA AADHAR MONEY TO BENEFICIARIES

Panaji, August 29, 2014 … The Department of Women and  Child Development has disbursed  through electronic transfer to the bank accounts the monthly allowance to all  the 113323 beneficiary housewives  under Griha Aadhar Scheme for the month of July 2014 @ Rs. 1200/- per beneficiary. The Department  has disbursed total  amount of Rs. 13.60 crores during the month.

This enhanced  benefit  @Rs, 1200/- per month has been implemented  from the month of June disbursement and the first increased disbursement  to  104813 beneficiary housewives amounting to Rs. 12.57 crores has been  disbursed and transferred to bank accounts of the beneficiaries  of August 1, 2014.

All the sanctioned beneficiaries  are requested to check their bank  accounts for the receipt of money as stated  above and incase no amount is received within 7 days, or for any discrepancy  may contact Help Line No. 2438844.

Goa’s State Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology at Farmagudi, Ponda gets its foundation stone, Goan youth aspiring to join the hospitality industry to benefit

Ponda, August 28th , 2014: The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa today laid the foundation stone of The State Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology at Farmagudi, Ponda at the hands of Shri Shripad Y Naik, Honorable Minister of State (Independent Charge) Culture & Tourism, Government of India in the presence of Shri Dilip Parulekar, Honorable Minister of Tourism; Shri Nilesh Cabral, Honorable MLA & Chairman GTDC; Shri Anand Kumar, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Shri R. K Srivastava IAS, Principal Secretary, Tourism, Government of Goa and Shri S. T. Nadkarni, Chief Engineer, GTDC, Project Cell.

The proposed plot area of 40,000sqmt is located in the Goa Engineering College Campus, Farmagudi and will have a capacity of 540 students. Shri. Shripad Naik on the occasion said, “The State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology was a need-of the-hour. With the tourism industry flourishing in Goa, this project will definitely boost tourism and generate employment for the youth of Goa. We have requested the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India to increase the number of seats to 50% for the Goan youth. We hope to start work as soon as possible and complete this project within the stipulated time.”

The project will be executed in two phases. Phase I will comprise of the institutional building and a girls hostel block and phase II will comprise of an open air theatre, boys hostel, staff quarters, attendance quarters, cafeteria, principal’s quarters, health club and a playground amongst other facilities. The project is slated to be completed within 330 days excluding monsoons.

The Institute’s academic program will comprise of a 3 year BSC degree and a 1 and half year Trade Diploma in food production, food & beverage service, bakery & confectionary, housekeeping and front office operations. Apart from these courses, Capacity building for the villagers of Bandora, Farmagudi will be organized for at least 1000 youngsters every year.

goa government proposes to set up aiims centre at dhargal sports city land

It may be note that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had earlier stated that the Union government has asked the state to send a proposal for setting set up the All India Institute of Medical Science in the state and had also mentioned that a site at baiguinim was identified for setting up the medical institute in goa

Speaking to media reporters in Panjim chief minister’s manohar parrikar who on Tuesday had made a visit to Delhi to meet the minister’s of the central government said out of nine lakhs which was acquired for sports city in dhargal around six lakhs would be utilized for setting up aims centre at dhargal in goa

Parrikar said that the kadamba plateau which was earlier identified for setting up aims in goa was too less for aims to be set up in goa

Commenting over the dual citizenship issue being discussed with the home minister parrikar said the proposal of giving one time relief to all those goans who had registered their names in portugal and had not obtained passport was being considered by the central government

Addressing media person’s chief minister Manohar Parrikar who had met the central minister for information and broadcasting prakash javdekar on Tuesday said that the location was not yet finalized and was in process of discussion and could be resolved by 15th of September

Parrikar said that his government was also in plans of coming up with the multiplex up gradation policy

Commenting over the buffer zone issue areas Parrikar said that the buffer zone would be notified by ten of next month in the eco-sensitive zones in the wild life areas of the state

Mineral Production during June 2014

27/08/2014 … The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector for the month of June (new Series 2004-05=100) 2014 at 121.5, was 4.3% higher as compared to June 2013..The cumulative growth for the period April- June 2014-15 over the corresponding period of previous year stands at (+) 3.2%.

 The total value of mineral prduction (excluding atomic & minor minerals) in the country during June 2014 was Rs. 17615 crore. The contribution of : coal was the highest at Rs. 5882 crore (33%). Next in the order of importance were: petroleum (crude) Rs. 5706 crore, iron ore Rs. 2360 crore, natural gas (utilized) Rs. 1809 crore, lignite Rs. 490 crore and limestone Rs. 403 crore. These six minerals together contributed about 95% of the total value of mineral production in June 2014.

 Production level of important minerals in June 2014 were: coal 441 lakh tonnes, lignite 43 lakh tonnes, natural gas (utilized) 2826 million cu. m., petroleum (crude) 31 lakh tonnes, bauxite 1780 thousand tonnes, chromite 241 thousand tonnes, copper conc. 9 thousand tonnes, gold 131 kg., iron ore 117 lakh tonnes, lead conc. 15 thousand tonnes, manganese ore 224 thousand tonnes, zinc conc. 102 thousand tonnes, apatite & phosphorite 151 thousand tonnes, dolomite 605 thousand tonnes, limestone 238 lakh tonnes, magnesite 22 thousand tonnes and diamond 3916 carat.

 The production of important minerals showing positive growth during June 2014 over June 2013 include ‘apatite & phosphorite’ (144.7%), ‘diamond’ (43.2%), ‘magnesite’ (25.2%), ‘manganese ore’(21.7%), ‘lignite’(14.6%), ‘coal’ (9.7%), ‘dolomite’ (8.4%), ‘iron ore’(7.7%), ‘limestone’ (5.9%), ‘bauxite’ and ‘gold’ (5.7%) each and ‘petroleum (crude)’ (0.1%).The production of other important minerals showing negative growth are: ‘chromite’ [(-) 0.7%], ‘natural gas (utilized)’ [(-) 1.5%], ‘lead conc.’ [(-) 19.3%], ‘zinc conc.’ [(-) 22.8%] and ‘copper conc.’ [(-) 23.5%].
