It may be noted that the matter which was heard on 9th of October this month was later kept to be heard for 24th of October after the legal advisor of the gca president advocate keertani sought to know from sag the details as weather there were any power in the sag constitution to recognize or de-recognise the goa cricket association

the GCA president had responded to the notice terming the notice as unwarranted without jurisdiction and challenging the powers of SAG to issue such a notice …

both gca president vinod phadke and his legal advisor advocate k t keertani were present for the hearing which took place on Friday before the director of sports authority of goa

sag director sandip jacques said that the legal counsel of gca had brought on record a couple of legal issues which had to be looked upon and therefore the matter was kept for hearing once again on 4th of November next month

Meanwhile gca president vinod phadke said that the allegation made against him by some gca managing committee members were totally false and baseless for which he would take legal action against the concerned managing committee members

Meanwhile mr Phadke also stated that the meeting taken by the eight managing committee members on Thursday was illegal and had no standing as far as gca constitution was concerned

25/10/2014 … The state tourism department has received proposal from the organizers of sunburn as well as from supersonic which would be put before the committee members of single window system and then only the event would be finalized once proper dates are drawn said tourism minister dilip parulekar

It may be noted that Sunburn one of the Electronic and Dance Music festivals in India, has been held in the state of goa for the past few years being held in December every year and this year it would be held on 27, 28th and 29th of December at vagator

While Vh1 Supersonic that began last year would continue to enthrall audiences this year too with world renowned artists and many more turning up on Candolim beach in Goa from 27-30 December 2014.

Speaking to goanreporter tourism minister dilip parulkear said that the single window system committee had received the application from both the organizers who had in-turn asked the organizers as not to have a conflict over the event dates and resolve it between them as soon as possible

Parulekar said that the tourism department had also received a proposal of hosting a kite festival in the state which the state government was trying to do so as to increase the revenue of the state through tourism activities …

Parulekar also stated that the state government was trying to develop infrastructure facilities in the tourism belt so as to make tourism area free from traffic congestion …

Addressing media persons vice president of goa cricket association dr shekar salakar said that the three staff office namely kajal sawant, greta dsouza and victor Fernandes had been suspended by the managing committee for their indiscipline, insubordination, leveling false allegations along with their rude behavior with committee members

Gca treasurer vilas desai said that it was a said part that gca office staff had gone on leave and some of them had also taken office files along with them which was totally illegal

Meanwhile gca Joint secretary atul naik also said that the committee member had demanded strict action against the gca secretary chetan dessai against the filed by gca secretary in the high court of Mumbai at panaji for staying the investigation without the permission and information of the managing committee members

Panaji; Oct 21, 2014 … The Governor of Goa Smt. Mridula Sinha in the very auspicious occasion of Diwali has extended her greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa.

The Governor in her message says Diwali is a traditional religious occasion celebrated by the people of India with great enthusiasm, spirit and joy. It is the festival of lights. The strings of lights, the little earthen diyas with oil and brightly lit wicks mark the celebrations and create unending celebratory mood among the people.

The Governor further says Diwali spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil and hope over despair. I would like to say that festivals like Diwali have a greater role to play in our national life. India is a country having different religions, regions and languages. The celebrations of the seasonal, cultural, religious and spiritual occasions should help in greater social solidarity and national integration. Goa continues to maintain its traditional social peace and spiritual solidarity.

May the celebrations of Diwali this year bring greater peace, Joy and prosperity to one and all. At the same time, I would appeal to the people that while celebrating the occasion, which involves lighting of lamps and fireworks, the safety aspect should be taken care of. October 22, 2014 … Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar has extended greetings to all the people of the state on the occasion of Diwali and have wished them a happy and prosperous life.

Chief Minister in his message has said that Diwali, the festival of lights, is a symbol of prosperity. It inspires us towards the path of truth and as well as popularises the ideals of national unity and cohesion. Diwali, he said has a special importance in our culture, as it is a symbol of social harmony and mutual brotherhood.

RICH TRIBUTES PAID TO COPS ON POLICE COMMEMORATION DAY

October 21, 2014 …. Police Commemoration Day 2014, was observed in Goa today along with other parts of the country. Tributes were paid to those who laid down their lives, while performing their duties. Every year, October 21 is observed as police commemoration day in memory of CRPF personnel, who were killed by the Chinese in 1959.

The arms were reversed by the Police at the Martyrs Memorial, to pay homage to the departed souls.

Every year on October 21, rich tributes are paid to the policemen who sacrifice their lives while discharging their duties. The day is observed as the National Police Commemoration Day, in their remembrance. The history behind the observance of this day on October 21 is said to be that in 1959, on the same day, twenty Indian soldiers were attacked by the Chinese troops in Ladakh, during which ten were killed and seven were imprisoned and others managed to escape. The dead bodies of the martyred policemen were handed over to India by the Chinese troops on November 28, 1959 and then, their cremation was held with full Police honours at the Hot springs in Ladakh.

The names of 662 Police Martyrs and paramilitary forces who have lost their lives in service of the country during 1.9.2013 to 31.8.2014 were  read out by the DGP  to acknowledge with pride the supreme sacrifices made by them.

After the commemoration parade, DGP and other Police Officers laid wreathes at the martyrs memorial  in commemoration of the Police personnel who have lost their lives while on duty and in combating enemy.

Others who were present were Deputy Inspector General of Police, Shri V. Ranganathan, S.Ps, Dy. S.Ps , Police  Medical Officer, retired police officers, Representatives of Home Guards and Civil Defence organisation and others.

Goa police paid rich tributes to 663 police and paramilitary personnel from across the country killed in action over the past one year between September 1, 2013 andAugust 31,  2014,  as   a partof Police Commemoration Day on Tuesday

A parade was held at Goa Police Headquarters, Panaji, to mark the occasion and arms were reversed and two minutes silence was observed in the honour of the departed souls.

Director General of Goa Police, Mr T.N. Mohan IPS,  who paid tributes to the martyrs  at the memorial, earlier in his brief  speech said that the history of commemoration day traces back to October 21, 1959, when a patrol party of CRPF, led by SI Karam Singh, was ambushed by the Chinese forces at Hot Springs Ladakh and 10 Jawans were killed.

He read out the names of  the police personnel who died on duty during the past one year.

DIG V. Renganathan, IPS, Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police, Police Inspectors, other officers, Representatives of Home Guards and Civil Defence, retired police officers, and other members of Goa Police placed wreaths on the police memorial.

The day is observed in the memory of brave Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) jawans who laid down their lives, while fighting the Chinese insurgents in Ladakh.
