GOVERNOR FLAGS OFF RUN FOR CLEANER GOA

Panaji: October 7, 2018  … The Governor of Goa Dr. ( Smt.) Mridula Sinha flagged off Run for Cleaner Goa organized by the Department of Police at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium Bambolim today. Run for Cleaner Goa is also s a part of Swachh Bharat Mission organized in commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. Apart from this the objective of the Run for Cleaner Goa is also to spread the message of the importance of cleanliness and about the role of masses in keeping Goa clean.

 The starting point of the Run for Cleaner Goa was Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium while end point of the run was Sharada Mandir School Miramar. More than 900 hundred people comprised of army personnel, police personnel, Fire force personnel’s and public participated in the run.

SHRI NAVTI LAUNCHES “DONATE YOUR TIME” UNDER SVEEP

Panaji: Oct 06, 2018 …. Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Shri Narayan Navti, launched ” Donate Your Time” a Special programme (pioneer campaign) under SVEEP organized by Booth Level Officer (BLO), Assembly Constituency 12, Taleigao, at Taleigao today.

The chief motive of “Donate your Time” campaign is to build a strong community support in creating awareness on Voter’s Education and ensuring positive participation through valiant volunteering. The brand ambassador of the campaign is Shri Madhav Borkar, the North Goa District Icon. The volunteers shall be branded as “Time Donors” who shall as a noble and selfless act work for the cause of stronger electoral participation and healthy democracy at the grass root level.  The Time Donors shall donate some time from their routine life and be present at the polling booths on special camps and special drive days and so also on regular days as per their convenience. This campaign model is expected to encourage the senior citizens to actively participate in SVEEP and motivate the younger generation to develop a sense of social responsibility, integrity and moral obligation as our duty towards our country.

After the kick-start of this campaign the ‘Time Donors’ will be voluntarily donating their time on their Polling Stations on the special campaign days, special drive days and also consistently on regular days to impart information on importance of Electoral participation, enrolment in electoral roll and ethical voting.

This model will be adopted in all the other constituencies in the State of Goa thereby setting up an example and means of best practices and as an effective concept in SVEEP.

Speaking as a Chief Guest,  Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Shri Navti emphasized that the senior citizen have lots of ability and experience, which they will use to propagate to enroll young generations or left out eligible voters. He hoped that the efforts made by senior citizen will also propagate ethical voting during election and their ideas will bring golden days to Indian democracy.

Shri Navti said Office of Chief Electoral Office and its election machinery is working towards to prepare error free electoral roll and therefore he appealed the people for cooperation and support for its success.

Shri Navti appreciated the efforts made by all 41 BLOs from Taleigao Constituency and said the hard work of BLOs and their innovative ideas ensuring Goa to be the number one state in having 100 percent enrollment. Shri Navti congratulated all BLOs for being the first Assembly Constituency at all India level to have completed the task of Mobile App and receiving the Best Booth Level Officers Award.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Levinson Martin, Collector North stressing that time is valuable which just can’t be valued with money appealed to all the senior citizen to spend their valuable time for this noble cause to build a strong democracy. He said, in Election, Electoral roll play very important therefore every one of us have to do their best to enroll each eligible voter. No eligible voter should be left behind, he added.

Election District ICON Shri Madhav Borkar said that in Indian Constitution voting has lot of significance as a single vote makes lots of difference. Voting is a fundamental Right which we all should exercise .

The programme commenced with a  ‘Dekhni’ performance which is a semi classical Konkani dance by Goan artists who are voters of 12-Taleigao Assembly Constituency.

The banner used in the programme in the backdrop was handmade by the students of College of Fine Arts who are the Voters of 12-Taleigao AC.

Certificates and Mementos were presented to the Booth Level Officers at the hands of guests to acknowledge their efforts for bringing in innovative concept of the campaign “Donate Your Time” and to create the concept of “Time Donors”, Goa.

The Booth Level Officers also performed a song written and composed by them as a part of SVEEP activity to create awareness on online enrolment and ethical voting.

AGRICULTURAL PROSPECTS FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2018

Panaji, October 05, 2018 … Agricultural prospects of the Directorate of Agriculture for the month of September, 2018 is as follows:

Crop prospect for the season is moderate. No outbreak of pest/diseases have been reported or observed during the pest surveillance impact and sowing was completed for establishing groundnut seed cluster in Pernem, Bardez and Sanguem Taluka.

Two days workshop on ‘Prospects for Export of vegetables produced by Goan Farmers’ was organized by Goa State Horticulture Corporation, Caranzalem in  association with Dhempe College, Miramar and the Directorate of Agriculture at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji.

VLC’S NEED TO BE SET IN MOTION: THOMAS

October 05, 2018 … The District Magistrate and Collector, South Goa District, Dr. Tariq Thomas underscored the need to set in motion the Village Level Committees,  Water and Sanitation; Garbage Managment Committee and Health Department Committee to ensure that the people participate in  addressing the issue various issues plaquing the villages including adverse effect on Vector Borne Diseases.

Chairing the meeting of the District Co-ordination Committee on Vector Borne Disease at MSAC, Collectorate today, Dr. Thomas exhorted the concerned BDO’s to ensure that atleast one meeting of each committee is held by December 19, 2018 at all village panchayats.

Dr. Thomas also suggested to have an orientation programmes for the Doctors for updation of statutory provisions which would go a long way to refresh/update their knowledge on various aspects which could be effectively be useful in their day to day discharging of duties.

Commending the efforts of the Doctors for tirelessly working to control the Vector Borne diseases, the Collector felt the need for the committee to be active throughout the year and should not be just monsoon specific one. Though Vector Borne Diseases is a serious issue during monssons, systematic efforts are required to tackle it, he remarked.

The Primary Health Centre across the District through a Power Point Presentation presented the various issues, IEC activities undertaken involving the people and school students at different centres including the measures undertaken to address the breeding and spreading of the disease.  Periodic figures of last siox months on various issues at different PHC’s were placed before the committee members for their knowledge and information.

The Medical Officers from various PHC’s; Mammaltdars, BDO’s; Sanitiary Inspectors from PHC and Municipalities and Shri Roland Martins, Goacan attended the meeting.

SPEAKER DISALLOWS NOTICE REGARDING HIS REMOVAL

Panaji, October 04, 2018 … Office of the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly in connection with the  notice for removal of Speaker moved by the Leader of Opposition alongwith 15 other MLAs belonging to Indian National Congress has stated  that the said notice was issued on 21st September, 2018 to the Secretary, Legislature. Thereafter, the said matter was brought to the knowledge of  Speaker. The  Speaker in his wisdom and for maintaining unbiased and neutral decision making referred the matter to Learned AG of Goa for his reasoned opinion in this matter.

Learned AG was pleased to provide his reasoned opinion in this matter upon reasoning of the necessary provisions of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of Goa Legislative Assembly  as well as the concerned provisions of the Constitution of India.

Speaker upon duly considering the advice of Learned AG has arrived to the conclusion that the said notice dated 21st September, 2018 is not maintainable on two counts. Such notice had to be moved with 14 days prior intimation during an ongoing Session. Governor has not summoned the Assembly currently Summoning can be done after six months from the last day of the immediate past Session.           

Therefore, Speaker has advised the Legislature Secretary  to accordingly communicate to the   Leader of Opposition that the said notice has been disallowed on the grounds of maintainability.

CABRAL INAUGURATES WORKSHOP ON GeM

Panaji: – October 04, 2018  ..Power Minister, Shri Nilesh Cabral inaugurated the workshop on Government e-marketplace (GeM) – a national portal, an initiative of Department of Commerce, Government of India to make the public procurement transparent and simpler for registered buyers and sellers at EDC, Panaji today.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Cabral said the sellers through the use of this portal will earn 100 percent profit on their product as no commission or extra charge will be levied by the Government. Buyers will also get product at the appropriate price and will be benefited with this portal.

Shri Cabral felt that we have to be competitive as the modern generation has less human contact with every passing day. Everything is being purchased online today. The mode of transition is changing rapidly in today’s world of Commerce. This portal is a welcome step as Government of India has provided an opportunity for all sellers and buyers to be on board he said.

 With this portal, Shri Cabral said sellers will be recognised all over India. Government has realised that more transparent you are the Government becomes more people friendly.  This portal will provide potential tapping to sell products. All should take this opportunity in right steps, he said and hoped that some new big entrepreneurs generates from this concept.

Finance Secretary, Shri Daulat Hawaldar while expressing his views said, this new initiative of Government of India has its own advantages. This portal will provide cashless, paperless and contactless service he remarked.

Deputy CEO, GeM, Smt Manju Sharma while giving details about the portal said, the portal is a transparent, fast and efficient system. Envisaged by the Government of India, GeM strives to keep pace with the ever evolving technological challenges and stakeholder aspirations. The GeM portal is currently used by almost all departments and organisations of the Central Government.

GOA POLICE TO ORGANIZE MARATHON ON OCTOBER 7

Panaji, October 04, 2018 … Goa Police Department will organize a Marathon/Run on October 7, 2018 at 6:30 a.m. The route of the Marathon will be from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium via Oitem Junction, NIO Circle, Goa Science Centre to Miramar Circle. Around 500 runners are likely to participate in the said Marathon/Run.

The Marathon run will be for 7.5 Kms for Male and Female categories having prize money of Rupees 7,000/-, 5,000/-, 3,000/- with trophies in respective categories.

The Marathon will be flaged off at 6:30 a.m. The participants will have to  register themselves at the registration counter which will open at 5:30 a.m.

GOVERNOR FLAGS OFF PRABHAT PHERI AT GOA UNIVERSITY

Panaji ::: October 3, 2018  … As a part of ‘Gandhi Samagra’, Governor Dr. Smt. Mridula Sinha flagged off a Prabhat Pheri in the premises of Goa University at 8.15 a.m. today. The pheri was a part of awareness about ‘Ayushman Bharat and Poshan Abhiyan’, a flagship program of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt of India’s Regional Outreach Bureau. Vice Chancellor of Goa University Prof. Varun Sahani, Registrar Dr. Y.V. Reddy, Press Information Bureau’s  West Zone Director Shri. R.N. Mishra and Addl Director General Smt. Melinda Dias were present on the occasion.

The event began by welcoming the Governor by performing ‘Povada’, a Maharashtrian folk song by artistes from Sangli, Maharastra. The Povada was based on ‘importance of Nutrition’. The Governor then administered the ‘Poshan Oath’ to those who were present and released the title song of the ‘Poshan Abhiyaan’.

Students of schools and colleges around the city along with teachers and teaching staff of Goa University participated in the prabhat pheri.  The pheri started from Admin block of Goa University covering up to 1.5kms through Varca village and returned to Silver Jubilee Hall.

SHRI KHAUNTE LAUNCH CIPLA TECHNICAL ACADEMY AT VERNA

Minister for Labour and Employment Shri Rohan Khaunte recently visited CIPLA Company at Verna to launch Cipla Technical Academy a learning and employment opportunities for the goan youths organised by CIPLA Ltd along with Department of Labour and Employment Government of Goa.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Khaunte said that rising unemployment is an issue in the State and government is working to reduce the same. He further informed that Government has started skill development courses in association with Cipla Company. Setting up such kind of academy will help our goan youth to learn, develop and experience their capabilities in the pharma manufacturing centres he added.
