GOA LEGISLATORS DAY CELEBRATED

Panaji, January 9, 2019 …The Goa Legislators Forum celebrated ‘Goa Legislators Day’, and to mark the celebration  organized a function at Secretariat Porvorim today. Power Minister Shri Nilesh Cabral graced the function.

Shri Cabral while speaking on the occasion said that, the expectations of people regarding development are increasing day by day. He said, the State Government is striving for development. He asked the senior Legislators to give their suggestions for the betterment and development of the state.

The Leader of Opposition, Shri  Chandrakant ( Babu ) Kavlekar in his address acknowledged  the contribution made by the senior Legislators during their tenure. Their vast experience may help the state to propel development and ensure welfare of the state and its people.

Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly and the Chairman of the Forum   Dr. Pramod Sawant while addressing the gathering said that, whenever any issue erupts in the state which  it may tend to pollute the situation in such a situation senior Legislators should offer their suggestions, opinions through the sources  to avoid negativity in the society. Their valuable guidance and suggestions will help the people, he said.

Shri Mohan Amshekar, Secretary of the Forum presented annual report of the activities of the Forum during the year 2017-2018. Adv. Sadanand Malik, Treasurer of the Forum, presented statement of the expenditure which was unanimously approved by the forum.

Former MLA Shri Vinaykumar Usgaonkar compered the function. Shri  Victor Gonsalves, Vice-Chairman of the Forum  proposed the vote of thanks.

GOA POLICE SUCCESSFULLY TEST DRONE DETECTION SYSTEM

Panaji, January 08, 2019 … Due to increase in use of unauthorized Drone/UAV in Goa during heavily crowded events and beach activities which can be a major potential risk to public safety and privacy, Goa Police has successfully tested a new solution which can live track current location of flying unauthorized Drones. The data can also be stored for later investigation.

Goa Police successfully used Drone Detection System for public safety and privacy during new year’s eve.

The system was deployed  in Baga area with ATS personnel under supervision of SP Shri. Karthik Kashyap. This system is mobile and works for a radius of 5 Km range. It hasfacility of PA system to announce and alert the public. It can also can be used to provide added safety to VVIP Movements and other big events in the State of Goa such as Carnival etc. wherein large number of people congregate.

This Drone can be used to monitor crowd movements, any suspicious movements within crowd, also vehicular traffic movements can be monitored and necessary instructions can be passed to the ground staff.

This new system will put a hold on unauthorized and unsafe use of drones and add to the safety and privacy of visiting tourists. The system was  presented by Bengaluru based startup IIO Technologies Pvt. Ltd. In association with DJI and L3 ASA PVT. LTD.   

GOA LEGISLATORS’ DAY ON JAN 9

Panaji, January 08, 2019 … .. The Goa Legislators’ Forum  of MLAs, MPs, Ex-MLAs and Ex-MPs will celebrate the “Goa Legislators’ Day” on January 9, 2019 at the Goa Legislative Assembly Secretariat from 9.30 a.m onwards.

Dr. Manjunath Desai renowned cardiologist will deliver a talk on the occasion. An open forum will  be held wherein the Ministers, MLAs, MPs, Ex-MLAs and Ex-MPs will participate.

All the Members of Goa Legislative Assembly including  Ministers, MPs, Ex-MLAs and Ex-MPs are invited to attend the function.

GOVERNMENT INVOKES ESMA

Panaji, January 08, 2019 .. …Government of Goa in exercise of the power under Sub Section (1) of Section 3 of the Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act, (ESMA) 1988 (Goa Act 20 of 1989) has prohibited strike in any form in all Transport Services for the carriage of passengers or goods by land or water in the State of Goa with immediate effect.

The order will be valid for a period of six months.

AGRICULTURAL PROSPECTS FOR DECEMBER

Panaji, January 07, 2019 …  ..A meeting of the State Level Monitoring Committee (SLMC) was held  to review the Coconut Development Board (CDB) in December 14, 2018 under the Chairmanship of Shri Madhav Kelkar, Director of Agriculture, at Directorate of Agriculture, Krish Bhavan, Caranzalem.

Awareness programme of Coconut Development Board (COB) was held in December 19, 2018 at Duler Farm, Mapusa. 150 participants were present for the programme.

Cluster demonstration under National Food Security Mission (Pulses) are laid on 75ha area with use of low cost technology like use of Rhizobium culture (RC), Phosphate Solubelizing Bacteria (PSB) Tricoderma, use of rock phosphate and micronutrient on cowpea seed. The demonstration will be in Tiswadi, Bardez, Pernem and Salcete (Margao).

Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA-North) organized ‘KRISHI KANTI-Exhibition’ focusing of latest technology and new schemes implemented by the Department to bring more land under cultivation on December 16 to 20, 2018 at Duler, Mapusa. Union Minister of State for AYUSH (IC) Shri Shripad Naik, Minister for TCP                    Shri Vijay Sardessai, Minister for WRD, Shri Vinod Palyekar, Dy. Speaker Shri Michel Lobo, Officers of  Directorate of Agriculture and 1002 farmers.

Directorate of Agriculture in association with ATMA (North) participated in the ‘SARAS Fair 2018-19’ organized by District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Government of Goa, at Kala Academy, Panaji.

Directorate of Agriculture participated in the ‘Lokotsav’ organized by Adarsh Yuva Sangh, Gaondongri and Kotigao, conducted at Adarsh Gram Amone, Canacona.

Training Programme on ‘Application of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System in Agriculture Development’ was held at National Institute Agriculture Extension Management, (MANAGE) Hyderabad, wherein two official of this Directorate attended.

Vegetables seed including Hybrid seed were provided to the farmers on 50% assistance for promotion of vegetable in Rabi 2018-19.

3.902 kg Seeds and 10,000 nos seedlings were distributed

MINISTER FOR ART RELEASES BOOK TITLED “OSSAY CARNAVAL”

Panaji, January 07, 2019 …. Minister for Art and Culture, Shri Govind Gaude released book titled Ossay Carnaval on the occasion of first annual day function of Abhinay Panaji on January 5, 2019 at Altinho Panaji.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Gaude extended his wishes and said that every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. He further said Goan artist will be always backed by the government as it is very much important for the artist to have financial support. Every individual who have inborn talent should contribute in different field of art and music.

WEEKLY REVIEW OF PRICES AND SUPPLY OF IMPORTANT ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES

Panaji, January 06, 2019 … … The statement of market price has intimated by the Registrar of Co-operatative societies of important essential commodities in Panaji, for the week ending December 18, 2018. The wholesale, the prices of maid and green peasdecreased by Rs.20/- to rs.160/- and Rs.500/- per quintal respectively. Eggs large increased by Rs. 20/- per 100 nos. during the week.

The prices of other important essentials commodities like paraboiled rice outside, raw rice common, wheat khandva, wheat shivri, turdal barshi, moongdal, gramdal, moong, gram kabuli big, sugar S-30, gur fine, sunflower oil, vegetable ghee “Ruchi” rawa, potatoes, onions tomatoes, chillies green and banana (Vassai) remained steady during the week.

In retail, the prices of eggs large increased by Rs.2/- to Rs.3/- per dozen during the week. The prices of other important essential commodities like parboiled  rice local, parboiled rice outside, raw rice common, wheat khandva, wheat shivri, jowar shalu, turdal barshi, moongdal, gramdal, moong, gram kabuli big,  sugar S-30, gur fine, sunflower oil, coconut oil,  vegetable ghee “Ruchi”, rawa, maida,  green peas, potatoes, onion, tomatoes, chillies green and banana (Vassai) remained steady during the week.  

 The increased and decreased in wholesale prices were due to increase and decrease in wholesale prices in supplying markets.

The supply position of important essential commodities were normal during the week, except that of parboiled rice local, jowar shalu and coconut oil,  the arrival of which was not noticed during the week.

GOVERNOR FLAGS OFF HISTORIC RAJ BHAVAN TOUR

Panaji, January 05, 2019 …   … “It is never too late to start something new and that which benefits the people,” said the Governor, Smt. Mridula Sinha at a function held to flag off the Raj Bhavan-Goa Darshan (Raj Bhavan Tour) at Raj Bhavan in Dona Paula, recently.

The Governor spoke of how the Raj Bhavan was a place that was truly blessed with natural beauty as well historical significance.

Sinha informed that they had received a lot of suggestions on how to go about the Raj Bhavan tours from the people and added that these suggestions will be taken up for consideration. “We will also be adding more elements such as short programs depicting the cultural aspects of Goa, to these tours so that visitors learn more about the true Goa,” the Governor said. 

Minister for Tourism, Shri Manohar Ajgaonkar, thanked the Governor for throwing open the gates of the Raj Bhavan to the people. Calling the day ‘historic’, Shri Ajgaonkar said that this shows that democracy is truly intact.

The Chairperson of Goa Tourism Development Corporation, (GTDC) Shri Dayanand Sopte, also expressed his gratitude to the Governor for allowing visitors to come to Raj Bhavan and said that it would be beneficial to Goans as well as to the tourists visiting Goa.

Earlier, Secretary to Governor, Shri Rupesh Kumar Thakur, IAS, in his welcome address briefed the gathering on history of the Raj Bhavan and stressed on its heritage value, its unmatched grandeur and opulence and its flora and fauna which he said was the epitome of natural beauty. Managing Director, GTDC, Shri Nikhil Desai proposed the vote of thanks.

Chief Executive Officer of Goa Electronics Limited (GEL), Ms. Revathi Majumdar spoke briefly about the online booking system and gate management system which will be followed for the tours. She also highlighted the security measures that would be taken during the tours.

On the occasion, the Information Centre was inaugurated and the Raj Bhavan Information Book was released. The Governor later flagged-off the first tour.

Present on the occasion were Dr Ram Kripal Sinha, Secretary- Tourism, Shri Sheo Pratap Singh IAS, the Vice-Chancellor of the Goa University, Prof Varun Sahni among others

PUBLICATION OF SPECIAL SUMMARY REVISION OF ELECTORAL ROLL RESCHEDULED

Panaji January 4, 2019 … The Election Commission of India has rescheduled the publication of the Electoral Rolls of Special Summary Revision of intensive nature with reference to 01-01-2019 as qualifying date for Goa State to January 18, 2019 instead of January 04, 2019.

CHILDREN’S DRAMA TO BE STAGED ON JAN 8

Panaji, January 04, 2019 ..The Directorate of Art and Culture, will host a ‘Balnatya’  as  part of  the 150th of Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji on January 8, 2019 at 4.30 p.m. ‘Is desh ko rakhna mere banchho sambhal ke’ a theatrical presentation will be presented by Yusuf Meherally Centre. Yusuf Meherally Centre, Bhadreshwar, Kutch works for the development of children among the fishing community. The Centre promotes and propagate the importance of education in this community.

As part of cultural activity the Centre has produced a children’s drama. The same drama production has been awarded first place at the  in District level Children’s drama competition in Gujarat.

          This drama is open for all and all.
