12/07/2015 …. In order to find an amicable solution between the taxi owners and rent a cab, members of the rent a cab association on Saturday met calangute mla Michael lobo at his residence and sought his support for in finding an amicable solution from the state government side …

It may be noted that the taxi owners association of goa had recently to protested against the state government’s decision to lift a moratorium on rent-a-car permits which they believed was a plan of the state government to allow back door entry to car service operators from outside the state as entry of more tourist taxis means less or no business for the existing taxi operators who feel the market is already crowded with too many operators.

While the North Goa Rent-a-Car Association had recently called for a revision of the government’s decision to ban renting cars in the State and had asked that no new permits be granted but to legalize the ones that have currently applied with the Transport department..

Speaking over the phone calangute mla Michael lobo said that the rent a cab owners had met him asking to find an amicable solution with the tourist taxi owners for which I had asked time to discuss the issue from the chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and other party functionaries on Monday …

Mr lobo said though rent a cab wanted tourist taxi owners to be included in their scheme he was not sure whether there was any provision to do so and therefore there was a need for legal opinion to take from advocate general on the concerned issue

Mr lobo also stated that the issue had to be deliberated properly as it was connected with the livelihood of the goans specially the goan taxi owners …

Panaji:  July 11, 2015 …. The result of June -2015 Supplementary S.S.C. Examination conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Alto Betim, will be declared on July 13, 2015 at 10.00 a.m.

The result will be available on official website www.gbshse.gov.in.

The distribution of passing certificate cum statement of Grade/Marks of SSC Examination will be done on July 14, 2015 between 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. at Boards Office Alto-Betim, Bardez-Goa.

The last date for accepting the application for supply of photocopy is July 16, 2015, Re-evaluation of Answer Script is July 23, 2015 and for verification of marks in Absentia is July 23, 2015.

The Board has taken decision to extend the facility of supplementary/compartment examination for students failing in one or two subjects and discontinued facility of ATKT from the year 2015 onwards.  

Panaji: July 11, 2015 … The Government has revised the existing charges for Bondla Zoo, levy of new rates for Sale of Curios and for Adventure Tours in Wild Life Protected Areas (WLPAs) in the State of Goa in terms of the provisions under Sec 28 (1) and (2) of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and Rules made thereunder:

 Levy of entry fee to Bondla zoo per adult revised rate is  Rs.50/-. Under Sale of Curios & Memorabilia to visitors in WLPAs. Round neck T-Shirt revised rate Rs. 225/- , Polo T-shirt revised rate Rs.350/-, Key Chains revised rate Rs. 25/- , Caps revised rate 75/-, Quarter Plates revised raters.350/-, Sets of Coasters revised to Rs. 150/-.

 Similarly, under Revision of charges for adventure tour operators to WLPAs Entry charges /head revised rate is Rs.200/-, Bicycle treks/head revised rate Rs.100/-, LMV entry revised rate Rs.300/-, HMV entry revised rate Rs.500/-, Overnight stay revised rate is Rs. 500/-.

 No such charges shall be levied on the persons residing within the boundary of such Wild Life Protected Areas except under items at Sale of Curios & Memorabilia to visitors and Revision of charges for adventure tour operators and for overnight stay in WLPAs.

 The rates have been approved by the Goa State Board for Wildlife.

 July, 11, 2015.Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar has stressed the need to conduct more research in the field of Engineering. He said, in view of lack of adequate consultancy the State has to seek advice of consultants for executing the plans in taking up major developmental projects and execute the same in the State.

Speaking after laying foundation stone for the proposed Rs.3 crores project for the work of construction of Boys Hostel in the distinguished presence of Minister for PWD Shri Sudin Dhawalikar under centrally funded scheme of AICTE at function held at  Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi  today the Chief Minister said research and findings be it in technical and other areas are necessary so that we may not have to rely on consultancy from outside the state.

Highlighting the significance of technical education in the era of Information Technology the Chief Minister said technical education is the need of the hour for which the State Government has taken required steps. In this context the Chief Minister said suitable land will be identified for setting up of proposed NIT in the State. He appealed to the communidade to extend its support to make available the land for the project.

Speaking on the occasion PWD Minister Shri Sudin Dhawalikar said his vision is to make Goa Engineering College one of the best institute in the Asia continent. He said adequate funds are allocated to GEC to meet its requirement and develop infrastructure and also to make available necessary education facilities to the students.

Chief Minister also launched online fee payment system and online application for Master of Engineering Programme 2015 of Goa Engineering College as part of Digital India Week celebration on the occasion.

Earlier Chief Minister Shri Parsekar alongwith Minister for PWD Shri Sudin Dhawalikar planted saplings in the campus of Goa Engineering College.

Each language category will get a prize of Rs. 500 along with a certificate. The entries should reach the office by August 6, 2015.

Panaji:  July 11, 2015 …. District Collector and Chairman of District Consumer Protection Council for South District, Shri Sachin Shinde stressed the need for voluntary participation of people to create awareness of the various rights of the consumers and called for using of the various mediums to create awareness of the urgent issues in a mass scale.

Shri Shinde stated this while discussing the various issue concerning different department pertaining to consumers, at the council meeting held at Margao, yesterday.

The District Collector directed the officials to ensure that they display their service delivery board, prominently, detailing therein the timeline mandated to deliver all their services for the knowledge and making the public aware of their rights.

Shri Shinde also favoured the online system to address grievances specifically the Electricity consumers and directed the officials to incorporate the public grievance portal on their existing website.

The members of the consumer forums raised various issues that affected the common person for which they were directions to address and minimize the same.

Director, Civil Supplies Consumer Affairs and Member Secretary of the Council; senior central and state government officials and representatives of various consumer forums were present for the meeting.

Panaji: July 11, 2015 …. Minister for Inspectorate of factories and Boilers Shri Deepak Dhavalikar inaugurated Mobile Occupational Health Clinic at a function held at the office of the Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers at Altinho on thursday.

The function was organized by Green Triangle Society in association with Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers to mark the celebration of Occupational Health Day. The theme for the celebration was “OH: From Statutory Compliance to Salutary Performance-challenges and opportunities”           

The Mobile Occupational Health Clinic was procured by the Government for a cost of Rs. 37 lacs. It is a well equipped and unique of its kind Mobile Occupational Health Clinic   comprises team of 8 medical experts.  The services provided are ECG, eye testing, audio testing, spirometry, blood testing along with other first aid treatments.

Shri Dhavalikar interacting with the press said that Government has serious concern about the health of workers working in the factories. This mobile health clinic he said is well equipped to cater to the need of workers. He said workers can avail the benefit of this facility as it will visit to the factories twice in a week. The actual operation   of the clinic will begin after July 13 of this moth he added.

Earlier Dr. G. V. Prabhu National President, Indian Association of Occupational Health, in his keynote address highlighted the importance of occupational health safety. He said every employee has to be provided with safe and healthy atmosphere to work. The Government he said has to pay more attention and the stakeholders of industrial sector too have to uphold the safety of the workers.

Shri Manguirish Pai Raikar Chairman GTS while speaking at the function said that the aspect of occupational health safety of workers cannot be undermined. He said although every occupation has its hazards and effects endangering the human being therefore it is the responsibility of the stakeholders of industries to care for the safety of their workers.

After a four days of dead lock over the collection of city garbage was restarted on Friday by employees after the Corporation of the City of Panaji and the CCP employees union on Thursday arrived at a solution to bring to an end the impasse surrounding the daily wages with the corporation accepting to pay pay daily wages of 323 to the workers on which the union agreed to.

Ccp workers were seen on Friday collecting the city garbage which had been lying for the past four days specially in the city market due to which citizens had to face a lot of hardships while moving in and around the capital city even though ccp had tried to use private employees to tackle the garbage issue during the strike period

according to the information from the corporation the issue of the wages for the eight days strike undertaken by the union in December in this CCP has agreed to adjust the strike period against the leave sanctioned to permanent workers while those workers who have not yet been regularized would not be paid wages but their service records will also indicate that there was no break in service …

it may be noted that in the past four days the capital city has been smelling of garbage stench with garbage being scattered all around the capital city due to the strike called on by the ccp workers

Well know cardiologist dr rufino monteiro commenting over the issue of garbage said that it was a stinking issue in the past few days which gave a dirty image to the city and therefore ccp should try and see such things are not taken place again

Addressing media persons cumbarjua mla pandurang madkaikar said that he has spoken to the gsidc chairman dr pramod sawant and had requested him to construct a road connecting towards cumbarjua village so that the new bridge could be inaugurated as soon as possible specially for the locals of cumbarjua and gaundalim villagers …

Mr madkaikar said that the issue of a crack being developed for the cantilever of the bridge was already been addressed by the concerned officials and the concerned cost was being undertaken by the contractor himself

Madkaikar also stated that since the consultant had not earlier proposed the land acquisition for connecting the cumbarjua bridge right up to ammona bridge there was a need for a separate by pass the concerned bridge road was connected right up till the marcel market
