30/07/2015 ….. Former chief minister Digambar Kamat has denied any role of his involvement in to the jica bribery case stating that the file never came to him

It may be noted that five years ago, Louis Berger, a company headquartered in New Jersey, paid nearly a million dollars to be hired as consultants for a water-and-sewage project in Goa, its executives have admitted in a US court. Louis Berger officers were then summoned by the Crime Branch of the Goa Police.

Along with jica officials in the past few days state crime branch officials have also summoned former pwd minister Churchill Alemao while the former chief minister digambar kamat was summoned to appear before the crime branch officials on Wednesday

Speaking to media reporters former chief minister digambar kamat said that he was open to any sort of inquiry as he had not taken any bribes from any one

Meanwhile chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that since the state police officials were in the right track investigating the jica case if need arise then they would think of weather to give the case to cbi or not

Addressing media persons outside the assembly complex pwd minister sudhin dhavlikar said that though investigation in jica bribery case was on the same would not hamper jica projects in the state and would be completed on time

Meanwhile deputy chief minister francis dsouza too said that he would only make a statement once the inquiry in to the jica case was completed and opined that there was a need for a public scrutiny over the jica projects

Mr rane said that if there was a demand from the people then definitely a bill was required and his party would support it

It may be noted that members of force along with parents of schools children from various parts of the state have been on a strike at the azad maidan in panjim in demand for enacting the law on medium of instruction in the ongoing state assembly session

Mr lobo met the convenor savio lopes who has gone on an indefinite hunger strike at azad maidan in panjim and held discussion over the force issues

Speaking to media reporters calangute mla Michael lobo said that English as medium of instruction was already there and the state government was aware about the requirements of the general public in the state

Mr lobo said that there was a need for people to take some patience as the bill would be passed in the present or the next assembly session

SHRI PRAKASH NAIK AND JOHN AGUIAR TO BE FELICIATED AT PONDA ON AUG. 1

panjim, july  29, 2015 …. Ponda Patrakar Sang and Antruz Patrakar Sang will be jointly commemorating the death Anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak on August 1, 2015 at Ponda. Both the Patrakar Sanghs have organized a series of activities on the occasion including National Integration group singing competition.  It is been decided to felicitate Information Officers Shri Prakash  Sadashiv Naik and Shri John Aguiar both the officers from Ponda taluka and closely associated with the press and media persons.

 JOHN AGUIAR

Shri Aguiar joined the Department of Information & Publicity in April 1990 as Information Assistant. He has been in the department for past 24 years  and has playing a key role. During this period he had been also assigned the role of Public RelationsOfficer for the Police Department , the designated rank for that assignment.

Nonetheless, he continues to hold the post, additionally now. As publicity officer he managed media and public connectivity requirements of the Government  and assisted various  departments  with their publicity campaigns. He produced a short film on awareness about “Dengue” for the Directorate of Health Services in 2014. He assisted the Chief Electoral Officers’ office during elections and also was involved in the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme of the ECI. Has also attended orientation programme at ECI New Delhi.  His work has been commended by then Electoral Officers Shri Yaduvanshi and Shri R. P. Pal.

He is an Arts graduate of Bombay University. With an academic bent of mind, he has  earned an post graduate degree in Journalism and has also answered  his exams for the MJ degree course. Shri Aguiar has won several awards, medals and commendations. Has been Best All Round Student 1983 (Smt. Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao., Recipient of Presidents Home Guard and Civil Defence Medal for meritorious services in Home Guards-2012, Recipient of Goa Chief Ministers Gold medal for Meritorious services in Home Guards-2007, Director general of Civil Defence, New Delhi commendation for meritorious service-2013.

Shri Aguiar  who joined the Department of Information and Publicity  performed under the then Director of Information & Publicity Shri R. G. Jatkar and Information officer Shri D. M. Karapurkar. His services were thereafter requisitioned by the then Union Minister  Shri Eduardo Faleiro in Delhi where he worked as his Asssitant Private Secretary looking after media and publicity in the Ministries of External Affairs, Chemicals and Fertilizers.

Shri Aguiar began his career in journalism at the age of 18 years as a reporter and a correspondent of erstwhile “O Heraldo O” for its roman Konkani page in the year 1976. Thereafter he worked as Reporter in West Coast Times, Staff Reporter in Herald both at Panjim and Margao. He also  worked as Ponda Correspondent of Gomantak. He also did Photo-journalism during this period.

Shri Aguiar’s specialty has been crime reporting. He used to do many of his investigative stories under pen name “Karamchand”.  He worked as Chief Reporter of Goencho Avaz. Senior Staff Reporter in Herald. Also looked after Margao as Reporter of Herald.  Also worked as Ponda Correspondent Gomantak (Marathi). He is a Konkani poet and has penned lyrics for Konkani songs for Music albums and also for All India Radio. His song “Pausant Bhizuya” was nominated for “Best Lyricist Award” organized by Kalangan, Mand Sobhann of Mangalore under Global Konkani  Music Awards 2009.

As NCC cadet, Mr. Aguiar has led NCC Cycle  Expedition from Goa to Pune and back-1982 and NCC Cycle Expedition-Goa to Hyderabad and back-1983. He has written and presented several plays on All India Radio, Doordarshan and also conducted interviews,  Written articles in local newspapers on environment, traffic, Youth, Careers and other important subjects.

Shri Aguiar was  one of the Vice Presidents of  South Goa Journalists Association in the past. He is also a shooter and  has represented  Goa State at the Maulankar National Shooting Championship held at Chennai-2003.

He is a poet lyricist who has penned several songs which are played on All India Radio and CDs. In 2013, he wrote special Carnival anthem which was sung by well Known singer Mukesh Ghatwal. He wrote Krist Bhakti Geetam, in the album titled “Grateful to Jesus” produced by Shri Sidhnath Buyao which was released on December 11, 2009.

He  happens to be a keen photographer, with a focus on birds and environment.

A Konkani Poet has authored  book on Konkani Poems ‘Jinn” ‘Paulam’, Gulmohar, Saanz and “Off Side” (Middles in English published in NT and Herald).

 Ponda Taluka Patrakar Sangh felicitated Mr. Aguiar, for completion of  over 25 years in the field of Journalism both print and the official media at a function held on the anniversary celebration of the Sangh on August 1, 2006. Shri Aguiar was felicitated on August 1, 2009 by the  Sanvordem-Quepem Journalist Association with  “Patrakar Mitra” award. “The Navhind Times  Ex-NCC Achievers  Award”  on June 30, 2010. “Vocational award” by Rotary Club of Panaji on October 14, 2009.

PRAKASH NAIK

Shri Prakash Naik joined the Department on June 30, 1989 as Information Assistant and subsequently promoted to the post of Assistant Information Officer in  June 2012. He handled the work connected to field publicity and has been dealing with subjects related to Republic day Parade in Delhi, IITF, Films, Songs and Drama services, Exhibition besides,  Government schemes and matters related to publicity.

During the period 1995 to 20o5 Shri Naik  was posted to Margao Sub-Office as in-charge and handled publicity related matters connected with the South Goa District effectively.

Shri Naik was Deputed at IITF Pragati Maidan New Delhi as Nodal Officer for setting up a Goa pavilion and at Goa Day functions on three occasions.

He is looking after RTI matters. A Commerce Graduate from Bombay University, Shri Naik is  also holding Bachelor in Journalism  degree having graduated from Tilak Maharashtra University , Pune.

IMB ORGANISES QUIZ COMPETITION ON AUG 1

Panaji: July 29, 2015 ….. Institute Menezes Braganza on the occasion of Death Anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak on August 1, 2015 organizing quiz competition for the students of Higher Secondary at Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji.        

The basic motto of this competition is to knock the hidden talent of youth around us and also to make them aware of the first leader of the Indian  independence movement.  The topic for the competition is life and work and Journalism of Lokmanya Tilak”.  Audience prizes will be also awarded for answering spot questions.

            Each higher secondary is to be represented by maximum two bonafide students.  Written Preliminary round will be held at 9.30 followed by final quiz.  Top five teams in preliminary round will be qualified for Grand Final.  Prize will be awarded to the winners of the Competition.

ENTIRE SOUTH DISTRICT TO BE FLOODED WITH ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN: SHINDE

Panaji: july 2015 …. The South District Collector, Shri Sachin Shinde has initiated and have undertaken various activities for creating awareness about Road Safety.  The activities which had started on July 23, 2015 will continue for a fortnight.  Helmet Rally, SMS alerts, Advisory to staff, Human Chain are some of the things palnned and organized during the fortnight.

 The District Collector have decided to flood the entire district with banners, hoardings, kiosks overnight for a whole week creating awareness of Safety on road Banners, Hoardings and Kiosk campaign to be held in the first week of August 2015. The Collector has planned to print a number of Banners and paint the Kiosk throughout the city of Margao, around the Complex compound wall, along the Highways through various Mamlatdar for creating the awareness of Safety on road. Similarly, hoarding, at least 2 in every Taluka, will be painted propagating the message of use of helmet. Mobile hoarding, i.e vehicle mounted hoarding will be stationed in Education institution like Higher Secondary, Colleges which will continuously display messages on Road Safety.  

 Human Chain has also been planned on July 28, 2015 wherein       Group of volunteers of Rotary, Rotaract and inner wheel will be participating by holding human chain continuously starting from Collectorate, stretching till Colva Circle with kiosks and boards in hand showing importance of Helmets and other points regarding Road Safety.

 Shri Shinde has planned to issue an Advisory for its Staff on July 29, 2015.  The advisory which will be issued and circulated amongst all the employees of the Collectorate as well as the offices housed in the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao will lay stress on the importance of Road Safety measures and use of helmets.

 Helmet Rally flagged off by the  Dy. Chief Minister, Shri Francisco D’ Souza started the campaign on the Road Safety on July 23, 2015.  The rally which was taken from Margao to Colva saw active participation of students from colleges.  All the riders wore ISI mark helmets.   Banners and placards with different message of road safety were prominently displayed on jeeps and bikes following it.

 SMS Alerts with Wear Helmet For Your Safety” and “Those Who Wear Helmets Properly, Reach Home Safely” were sent to the public, spreading the awareness about Road Safety. The South Collectorate have a data comprising of over 10,000 phone numbers who were informed of the importance of wearing of helmets.

The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, invites applications through the Voluntary organizations/Educational Institutions/NGOs from the deserving and eligible Youth’s /Voluntary Youth Organizations, undertaking Voluntary Services for the Welfare of the Youth and backward communities for the presentation of the State Youth Award 2014-15.

 The applications duly filled with Bio Data, Credentials, Certificate of achievements in Youth work etc.  should be submitted, in person to the office of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Campal, Panaji on or before   August 17, 2015 by 5.00 p.m. latest.

 The rules and conditions for eligibility inclusive of the specimen of the application form have been uploaded on the official website of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs www.dsya.goa.gov.in. Interested youth may download the same or alternatively, a hard copy of the specimen of the application could also be obtained from the Youth Section of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Campal, Panaji-Goa during office hours on any working day.

Addressing media persons outside the assembly complex calangute mla Michael lobo said that it was right of every legislator to be present in the house and therefore would like to request cm to ask ig-prison to grant parole to micky for attending the assembly session

Mr lobo said that micky was the senior legislator in the assembly session and there was every right of the government to give him parole to attend the assembly session
