Panaji. June 21, 2019 … Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the upgraded Government Primary School building and Rural Medical Dispensary building at Velguem in Bicholim taluka recently.
Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) is regularly taking up the repairs and maintenance of the schools from time to time, in order to provide basic infrastructures to the students even in the rural areas. This would not only help to upgrade the existing infrastructure facilities of the schools but also to improve the quality of education and thus the life of the rural population, Velguem is the good example.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said, the Government is taking necessary steps to make Government schools of top class, by providing all facilities for the students. He said the upgraded building having requisite facilities to cater to the basic necessities will help the students community to excel in their studies.

CM INAUGURATES RENOVATED SCHOOL BUILDING AT VELGUEM
IPS PROBATIONERS CALL UPON GOVERNOR
Panaji, June 20, 2019 … The Governor, Smt Mridula Sinha has solicited the cooperation to build a new Bharat and a healthy and prosperous India, from the 71 RR 2018 Batch of IPS (Indian Police Service) Probationers who called upon the Governor at Raj Bhavan, in Dona Paula, today.
The IPS Probationers from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, O.V. K. Shastry are on a Bharat Darshan and paid a visit to the Governor.
Smt Mridula while addressing the IPS Probationers said that the police service is social service too. She said that with increasing challenges in society, the role and responsibilities of police personnel has increased.
The Governor asked the probationers to be constantly on alert. Don’t be emotional she advised but try and see every person from a human perspective. She said that crimes against women are a concern and steps have to be taken to stop such crimes.
The Governor further told the IPS Probationers to convince people that they are with them by their actions and not just words. “Learn each day, learn continuously, be open to learning,” she said.
The Governor also spoke of the importance of time management.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY IN GOA SCIENCE CENTRE, MIRAMAR
Panaji June 19, 2019 ….Goa Science Centre, Miramar in association with World of Yoga will be celebrating International Yoga Day by organizing a Yoga session on June 21, 2019 from 8.30am. to 9.30 am in the Centre for staff and general public.

TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENT FOR FREEDOM FIGHTERS ON JUNE 18
Panaji June 17, 2019 ….Home Department has arranged transport arrangement for the freedom fighters on Goa Revolution Day function at Azad Maidan, Panaji and Aguad Fort.
Kadamba Bus bearing No. GA-03-X-0283 with driver Shri Domnic D’Souza will be parked near ‘Hutatma Chowk’, Mapusa to collect the freedom fighters at 7.45 a.m on June 18, 2019 and will proceed to Panaji to attend the state level function at Azad Maidan at 8.45 a.m.
After the function at Azad Maidan, Panaji the buses bearing number GA-03-X-0283 and GA-03-X-0551 parked near ferry wharf, Panaji will proceed to Aguada Fort. Soon after the function at Aguada Fort, both the buses will then return to Azad Bhavan at Porvorim for get together of the freedom Fighters.
STATE TO CELEBRATE GOA REVOLUTION DAY ON JUNE 18
Panaji June 17, 2019… The State of Goa is set to celebrate Goa Revolution Day on June 18, 2019 to commemorate the date when freedom fighter Ram Manohar Lohia gave clarion call to the people of Goa to fight against the colonial rule of Portuguese in 1946.
To mark the day, State Government has organised a solemn function at Azad Maidan, Panaji at 8.45 am. Governor Dr. (Smt) Mridula Sinha will pay tributes to the memory of freedom fighters by placing the floral tributes at the Martyr`s Memorial followed by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Speaker Goa Legislative Assembly, Shri. Rajesh Patnekar, Council of Ministers, Leader of Opposition and Freedom Fighters.
The event will be followed by formal programme at Azad Maidan wherein Governor Dr (Smt) Mridula Sinha, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, President of Goa Daman Diu Freedom Fighters Association Shri. Chandrakant Pednekar and President of Freedom Fighters Association of Goa Shri. Pandurang Kuncolienkar will address the public on the occasion.
Patriotic songs will be sung by Choir group of Bal Bhavan.
Similarly State Government has Organised a programme at Lohia Maidan, Margao at 9 am and at Kranti Maidan, Ponda on the same day to pay tribute to Martrys of Goa`s freedom struggle.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri. Vijay Sardesai will pay floral tributes at Lohia Maidan, Margao, while Minister for Art and Culture Shri. Govind Gaude will pay tributes to Martyr`s at Kranti Maidan, Ponda.
POLYTECHNIC PANAJI TO CONDUCT BEAUTICIAN COURSE
Panaji June 16, 2019… Polytechnic Panaji towards community development will short term course for 3 to 6 months in technical and non-technical fields that generate employments for the community. The scheme is sponsored by Directorate General of Training and the courses are offered free of cost.
It is informed that a Beautician Course is planned for 6 months which will start by June 20, 2019. Application forms are available in community office of Government Polytechnic Panaji. Last day of filling of the application forms is June 19, 2019.

Panaji June 16, 2019 …The following important development activities were carried by the Department of Cooperation during the month of April, 2019. An amount of 6405.79/- lakhs were disbursed Loans and Advances by Goa State Coop, Bank Ltd., Panaji.
23 Coop. Societies were audited during the month of April, 2019. Total Amount of Audit fees has been collected was Rs.66,844/- during the month of April, 2019. 18 number of societies filed returns. Total Amount of filling fees collected was Rs.11,500/-.
240 members have been enrolled during the month of April, 2019.
The amount of loan recovered by the Co.op Bank and Other Institutions was Rs. 198.06/- lakhs. An Amount of loan recovered by the Goa State Housing Finance and Federation Ltd was Rs. 31.45 lakhs.
During the month of April 2019 17,71,972 liters of milk from local and 1,95881.0 liters of milk from outside State was procured by Goa State Coop. Milk Producer’s Union Ltd, Curti, Ponda.

TOBACCO FREE GOA GOVERNMENT OFFICES
Panaji June 15, 2019 ….In the interest of public health and to keep the Government/buildings clean, thus contributing towards the “Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat” campaign Public Health Department has declared the premises of all the Government officers, PSUs as “Tobacco Free Zone”. As such, smoking and spitting of Tobacco in the premises of Government offices are prohibited and is a punishable offense. Public Health Department has declared all Head of Departments to enforce the same and submit compliance report to Director of Health Services by June 30, 2019.
Public Health Department informed that the harmful effects of tobacco use are well established and accepted globally. The use of tobacco is a prominent risk factor for 6 to 8 leading causes of death and almost 40% of the Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) including cancers, cardio-vascular disease and lung disorders are attributable to tobacco use. The number of deaths every year in India which is attributable to tobacco use is almost 8-9 lakhs.
GOA HAS GIVEN THRUST TO IMMUNIZATION: VISHWAJIT RANE
PANAJI, June 15, 2019 …Minister for Health, Shri Vishwajit Rane has said that the State Government has initiated steps for strengthening immunization in Goa. Shri Rane was speaking as Chief Guest at the ‘State Workshop for Rotavirus Vaccine Introduction’ which was inaugurated in Panaji, recently.
Rotaviruses are the most common cause of severe diarrhoeal disease in young children throughout the world according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Shri Rane said, “Goa has given thrust to immunization. The State Government is endeavouring to make the lives of people better.”
Shri Rane further spoke of the Government’s plans to bring on board industries and pharma companies to contribute through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to fund various health-related programmes and added saying that the Government is contemplating the setting up of a fund for enhancing the knowledge of health officers by sending them on visits to different places to get exposure on the developments taking place in the medical field.
KHAUNTE INAUGURATES INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY
Panaji June 14, 2019 …Minister for Revenue, Information and Technology, Labour & Employment, Shri. Rohan Khaunte recently inaugurated International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) with the theme “Our Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health”. Minister also felicitated the Awardees for the year 2018-19 for Individual category Dr. Nandakumar Kamat from North Goa and Shri K.D. Sadhle from South Goa and Surla BMC From North Goa and Curtorim BMC from South Goa.
The Function was organized by the Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB), in association with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and National Biodiversity Authority at the Village Panchayat Hall Salvador do Mundo, Bardez today.
Present on the occasion were Dr. Pradip Sarmokadam, Member Secretary, Goa State Biodiversity Board; Shri Rajendra Kerkar; Expert Member,Members of Goa State Biodiversity Board, Chairpersons and Members of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) from across Goa, Members of Thematic Expert Committees of GSBB & other respectful public representatives.
Addressing the gathering Shri Khaunte congratulated the awardees and said that these expert persons are the assets of our State who can guide us for the better future for which proper access is required. Assuring Government support to tackle the issues, he urged the entire stake holder to shoulder equal responsibility to address the issue.
