GBSHSE TO REVAMP ITS ACT, RULES, SEEKS SUGGESTIONS FROM PUBLIC

Panaji: Aug 1, 2019…  The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Education, Alto-Betim, Goa was established in the year 1975, thus completing almost 43 years. Many chapters, Articles which were incorporated in this Act in the year 1975 are outdated. Now the Board has decided to revamp the whole act and rules.

In order to complete this task a Committee has been constituted under Chairmanship of Shri Pramod Kamat, former law Secretary, Government of Goa.

The Board has appealed to all the stake holders and public to send their valuable suggestions, opinion etc., to the Board on following email addresses within 30 days from the publications of this press note:  chairman-gbshse.goa@nic.in sec-gbshse.goa@nic.in

 So that the committee may incorporate suitable suggestions while revamping the Board’s Act and Rules.

PRE-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR CHILDREN OF CLEANLINESS WORKERS

Panaji: July 31, 2019 … Applications are invited from the children from class I to X in Government/ Recognized Private Schools/ recognized Institute for Pre-Matric Scholarship to the children of those engaged in Occupation involving cleaning and Prone to Health Hazards to be awarded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi.

The amount of scholarship for Std. I to X is  Rs.225/-p.m. for 10 months and Ad-hoc grants of Rs.750/- per annum to Day Scholars where as an amount of scholarship for Std.III to X is Rs. 700/- p.m for 10 months and Ad-hoc grants of Rs.1000/- per annum for Hostellers.

Application in the prescribed format should be submitted by the student to the Directorate of Social Welfare, 18th June Road, Panaji through the Head of the Institution being attended by the student, latest by October 31, 2019.

SHRI RANE CALLS FOR AWARENESS ON TRANSPLANTATION

Panaji:: July 30, 2019….. Minister for Health Shri Vishwajit Rane inaugurated First Intermediate Training Course in Transplantation Procurement Management organized in collaboration with Donation and Transplantation Institute (DTI) Barcelona at Goa Medical College Bambolim today.

The three days course is being conducted from July 29 to 31 2019 at new Auditorium Goa Medical College Bambolim Goa. Around 50 participants will be trained.

 Speaking on the occasion Shri Rane stressed  on the initiatives in setting up of Transplantation and said that  awareness in this subject is very much required, in order to make known the subject to the masses.

 Speaking further he said, maximum emphasis will be laid in imparting required training to the faculty for better functioning of the organ transplant unit.

 Dr. Maria Paula Gomez, Spanish Faculty also spoke on the occasion.

NATIONAL AWARDS FOR THE EMPOWERMENT OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, 2019

Panaji: July 29, 2019… The Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice and empowerment, New Delhi is giving National Awards for the persons for persons with disabilities.

The National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities will be conferred on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, 2019.

Applications for the Awards in Prescribed format should be accompanied by  two passport sized photographs, Bio data along with summary of achievement and documents in support thereof and draft citation (not exceeding one page)

 The application should reach to the Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, 18th June Road, Panaji on or before August 16, 2019.

WORKSHOP ON WATER CONSERVATION HELD

Panaji:- July 28, 2019 ….Nature is a creation of God and to preserve our nature one needs divine heart. Present time is to respect the nature and to conserve water. We need to work sincerely on the Mantras given by Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi on Conservation  and Preservation of water. This is Second Mission after Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and we need to protect our future by conserving water said Minister for Water Resource and Fisheries Shri Filipe Neri Rodrigues who was speaking as the Chief Guest in the workshop on Water conservation organized by Water Resources Department (WRD) at Ravindra Bhavan Fatorda recently.
Other Dignitaries present on the occasion were  Cuncolim MLA , Shri Clafasio Dias , Nuvem MLA, Shri Wilfred Dsa, Chief Engineer of WRD Shri S.T. Nadkarni, Superintending Engineer, CPO Shri B.V.Pujari and other representative of WRD and Village Panchayat Panch Members of Velim ,Nuvem and Cuncolim Constituencies.
Speaking further Shri Rodrigues said we should convey to the centre that Goa would be the first state to take mission of Conservation and Preservation of Water very seriously and we have to keep documentary proof from the day one to show our work done. Directions given to all concerned including VP. Sarpanchas to reach out in respective villages to find an old abundant structure or infrastructure and send detail report whether these old abandened structure or infrastructure are in position to conserve water or not he added.
Shri Rodrigues also said that Government will do required amendment in the act to preserve the old water preservation and conservation structure or infrastructure and punishment will be given to those who  breach such old structure or infrastructure. Government have schemes which provides upto Rs.5 lacs to build or to preserve small ponds or bandas.
 Shri Clafasio Dias and Shri Wilfred Dsa also spoke on the occasion.

CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL CABLES, WIRES ON EXISTING ELECTRICITY POLES IN CANACONA

Panaji: July 27, 2019 …. With an aim to crackdown on illegal cables and wires on existing electricity poles in Canacona  without having the required permission, Canacona Electricity department has asked all cable operators to approach the electricity office within 10 days for regularization, failing which illegal wires and cables will be cut.

Currently, wires and cables of cable operators are mostly seen on the poles without  getting the approval from the electricity Department as result, revenue loss has been reported.

The Assistance Executive Engineer Shri Vinayak G. Mhalsekar said ‘Following direction from the government, we have asked all cable operators in Canacona to register at our office for regularization against payment of necessary fees. If operators fail to approach within 10 days, then unauthorized cables will be removed from the poles”.

HEALTH MINISTER LAUNCHES ROTAVIRUS VACCINE

Panaji:::Date: July 26, 2019….Minister for Health Shri Vishwajit  Rane launched the Rotavirus Vaccine by administering the same to the child at Hotel Fidalgo in the city yesterday.

Under this Immunization Programme 2.5 ml of the vaccine is administered orally with an oral syringe (applicator) to the child in each dose.  Three doses of Rotavirus Vaccine, one dose each at six weeks, ten weeks and fourteen weeks of age, along with the other scheduled vaccines.

 Rotavirus infects the bowels, causing a severe inflammation of the stomach and bowels.  Rotavirus is the most common cause of severe diarrhea among infants and children throughout the world and causes the death of about 5, 00,000 children worldwide annually.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Rane said, resources that are available and experience will be utilized to create best health care facilities and to strengthen and protect health of every child from Goa.

Shri Rane appealed to the doctor fraternity to be open to new ideas so that we can achieve something for the society. He said that he is on special mission and have kept time line for what remained to be achieved and within that time line we have to achieve in the area of health sector, he added.

Speaking further Shri Rane said that the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant is taking forward the legacy of late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to strengthen the immunization programme.

Shri Sajid Ishtiaque, State Technical Manager RVVI, Goa also spoke on the occasion.

BLACK BOX AT KA TO BE NAMED AFTER LATE VISHNU SURYA WAGH: GOVIND GAUDE

Panaji: July 26, 2019 … Minister for Art and Culture, Shri Govind Gaude has announced that Black Box at Kala Academy will be named after late Vishnu Surya Wagh, acknowledging his huge contribution towards Goan literature and Culture.

Shri. Gaude was speaking at a Programme organised by Kala Academy, to mark the 55th Birth Anniversary of former Deputy Speaker, Goa Legislative Assembly and multi-faceted personality late Vishnu Wagh, which was held at Kala Academy, Panaji recently. 

In order to pay tributes to Wagh, a special programme was held titled “Vishnumay Jag” organised by Kala Academy comprising of poems, songs and presentation of various extract of dramas and literature authored by Vishnu Wagh.

Shri. Gaude also informed that the programme will be organised every year to acknowledge the work of late Wagh.

Renowned Poet and IAS Officer in Maharastra Civil Service Dr. Dilip Pandharpatte revealed various aspects of literature and personality of late Wagh.

MLA Margao Constituency Shri. Digamber Kamat also spoke on the occasion.

MERIT BASED AWARD FOR SC STUDENTS

Panaji: July 25, 2019 ….Applications are invited from the deserving students of Goan origin for the scheme titled ‘Merit based awards and reconignition of high performance in the board exams of SSC and HSSC in the State of Goa’ for Scheduled Caste students. The applications should reach the office of Directorate of Social Welfare by August 31, 2019. The application forms are available in the office of Directorate of Social Welfare, 18th June Road, Panaji on any working day. The applications will be scrutinized as per the percentage of marks scored by the students irrespective of the Board to which the Exam is affiliated.

The scheme is implemented through the Directorate of Social Welfare. The objective of the scheme is to motivate students by giving Merit Based Award based on the benchmark of the performance and to provide financial incentive to high performing students who are economically weak.

The following is the eligibility criteria students securing marks in the range (between 50% to 59.99%) will be given a financial award of Rs.5000/-. Students securing marks in the range (between 60% to 69.99%) will be given a financial award of Rs.8000/-. Students securing marks in the range (between 70% to 74.99%) will be given a financial award of Rs.10,000/- and Students securing 75% marks and above will be given a financial award of Rs.15000/-.

Income limit is less than Rs.2.00 lakhs. Government of Goa will felicitate the students at a public function in recognition of their good performance in SSC and HSSC Exam respectively. Under the scheme amongst the SC students,  first five rank holders of SSC and first five rank holders of HSSC Board exams (separately for all the streams of Science, Commerce, Arts and Vocational) will be felicitated in public function.

A certificate of Appreciation will be given at the time of felicitation. Financial award of Rs.20,000/- will be transferred electronically in the Bank Account of the Rank Holder Student. There are no restrictions on the basis of income ceiling.

GOVERNOR INAUGURATES WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS

Panaji: August 24, 2019…Governor of Goa Smt. Mridula Sinha recently inaugurated a 5-Day workshop for school Headmasters and Maths, Science teachers at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Farmagudi. The workshop is organized in joint collaboration with Rashtriy Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) and UNISED (Unit of Science and Educational Development) – IIT Kanpur. The Governor also inaugurated an Integrated Class Training (ICT) lab and an innovative Science and Maths kit. The kit will be distributed to schools post the workshop.

National Programme Advisor of RAA, Shri. Avaneesh Tripathi, Programme Director, UNISED, (Unit of Science and Educational Development) – IIT Kanpur, Shri. Javed Ali Khan, Secretary Education, Prof. Gopal Mugarayya, Director, NIT Goa, Smt. Nila Mohanan IAS, National Convener, UNISED Dr. Sandip Shai were present on the occasion. The workshop is being attended by 60 teachers and Principals from the state of Goa.

Speaking on the occasion the Governor congratulated team NIT for their initiative. “Teachers she said play an important role in shaping a child’s future. Our country has a beautiful Guru-Shishya Parampara and workshops like these will allow us to revitalize the same.”  

The Governor said that Mathematics and Science need to be taught in practical manner. “Nature is our best teacher. Hence, sometimes taking a class outdoors help. Students must be able to relate to nature and its concepts. It’s only then, the fear of these subjects will go off their minds. We must work hard to impart quality education,” the Governor opined.

Earlier, Prof Gopal Mugarayya welcomed the gathering. Other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion. PRO NIT Goa, Smt. Sarani Ghoshal, compered the function while Director of Education, Shri. Nagraj Honnekeri proposed the vote of thanks.

The faculty members NIT and Goa Engineering College as well as others will train the teachers to teach topics like Geometry, Properties of circles and triangles, Software’s for Mathematics, Algebra, Quadratic equations/expressions, Parabola and Problems, Properties of Acid, Base and Salt, Families of Carbon Compounds, Weight, Mass, Light, Energy and  Gravity.
