PWD MAKING CONSTANT EFFORTS FOR REMOVAL OF POTHOLES

Panaji, September 22, 2019 …. The Public Work Department (PWD) is making constant efforts for repairs and maintenance works pertaining to removal of potholes, road safety etc. However during the developmental works, discomfort is caused to the commuters and traffic. The Government is conscious of this short term discomfort, and is working for further convenience of the public at large. Government machinery is constantly working towards attending such short comings.

GOA STATE ELECTION COMMISSION BAGS ‘SKOCH ORDER OF MERIT AWARD, 2019’

Panaji, September 21, 2019  …The Goa State Election Commission has won the National level ‘SKOCH Order of Merit Award’ for successful implementation of Election Management System (EMS).  The Award was today presented before the Governor Smt. Mridula Sinha by State Election Commissioner Shri. R.K. Srivastava, IAS (retd). Secretary, State Election Commission Shri. Melwyn Vaz and Nodal Officer (IT) Shri. Sagar Gopal Gurav were also present on the occasion.

The Governor appreciated the initiatives taken by the State Election Commission and congratulated the officials.

Election Management System (EMS) is real-time electronic data processing software designed for conducting and monitoring the whole election process and to conduct Local body Elections in a smooth, free and fair manner. It could be used to carry out Election Proceedings right from accepting Nominations to a declaration of results and it helps to achieve faster and efficient reporting across the entire state. It is being successfully used during all the elections to Local bodies since 2017.

WOMEN PLAY IMPORTANT ROLE IN SOCIETY: GOVERNOR

Panaji:: 20th September 2019 ::: Dr. (Smt) Mridula Sinha, Governor of Goa Asserted that women are special and play important role in family and society at large. She was speaking as the chief guest at the concluding of two day meet of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in India, West Zone Meet Milestone held at Calangute recently. The theme of the meet was Dost Aur Kalam.
Smt Sinha further stated that women are excelling in every field of human endeavour. She has capacity to empower herself provided  given opportunity. We need not to make empowerment of only women or girl child but of our family as a whole which is the need of hour. In our society we have many problems like family breakups negligence towards values which we have to address.
Speaking further the Governor said that as human beings we have to work for the cause of humanity which will make our life meaningful in true sense. It  is not necessary to serve lakhs of people but help one person at the right time  which can  make a difference she opined.
Inner Wheel Club of Panaji,  Curchorem and  the Association  Inner Wheel  Clubs in India jointly donated 30 bicycles to 30 children of Matrichhaya centres of Dhavali  Ponda, Talavali. and Margao etc.

WORKSHOP ON FABRIC BAG MAKING

MTA INVITES TRIBAL REPRESENTATIVE TO WITNESS R-DAY PARADE

Panaji, September 18, 2019 …..Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MTA), New Delhi has invited two Tribal Representative one male and one female from any of the Scheduled Tribes members from backward Tribal Communities in the State to witness the Republic Parade and celebration 2020 at New Delhi.

  The Scheduled Tribe people of Goa State whose age is not over sixty years age interested to witness Republic Day Parade, 2020 at New Delhi may submit their nomination in the performa given below to the Director, Directorate of Tribal Welfare, 5th floor Shrama Shakti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji latest September 14, 2019 as per name of the applicant, date of birth/age, fathers name, mothers name, husbands/wife name, full residential address, contact number, tribes to which he/she belongs (Caste certificate to be enclosed), family annual income from all sources.

One two person belonging to ST Communities i.e one male and one female will be selected to witness Republic Day Parade, 2020 at New Delhi. The selected person has to represent themselves in the traditional  attire and should stay in Delhi from January 22, 2020 to February 2, 2020.

The expenditure to travel by second class railway from Goa to Delhi and back as well as food accommodation will be borne by the State Government.

KIP YOUTH CALL UPON GOVERNOR

Panaji, September 17, 2019….One must hold on to one’s culture and yet at the same time learn from other cultures, said the Governor, Smt. Mridula Sinha, while interacting with youngsters who called on her, as part of the 55th Know India Programme (KIP), at the Raj Bhavan, in Dona Paula, recently.

The KIP is organised by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, Government of India in association with Home Department (NRI Cell), Government of Goa.  Further interacting with the youngsters, the Governor said that there must be no competition between cultures and one must respect the culture of the place one lives in. However, she asked the youngsters to also value the richness of Indian culture.

            The Government of India, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi has been organising the Know India Programmes to create awareness amongst the Indian Diaspora Youth about India’s cultural heritage and various aspects of contemporary India.

            The Government of Goa is the partner State for hosting the 55th KIP being organised from September 7-16, 2019, in which 40 Indian Diaspora Youth in the age group of 18-30 years who have distinguished themselves in different fields, having abiding interest in India and links with India through parentage, are participating.

Shri Vineet Kumar, (IFS) accompanied the youth. Present on the occasion were Liaison Officers, NRI Cell, Shri Nilesh Kamat and Shri Stephen Soares, Tourist guides, Ministry of Tourism, Shri Shailesh Pai and Dnyandeep Volvoikar, among others.

ECI APPEALS ELECTORS TO VERIFY ELECTORAL DETAILS

Panaji, September 16, 2019….  The Election Commission has launched Electors Verification Programme (EVP) from September 1,2019 to October 15, 2019 for improvement of health of the Electoral Roll enrolment of all eligible citizens during Special Summary Revision, 2020 by verification and authentication of elector’s details.

          The electors are appealed to search and verify their details in the Electoral Roll and indicate corrections in details, if any, including photograph and authentication of entry. The details of family members can also be verified following portals may be used for verifying the details. ‘Voters Helpline’ mobile app, NVSP Portal, Common Service Centers (CSCs), Voters Facilitation Centers (VFCs) at taluka Mamlatdar Offices and PwD electors may call Voter Helpline (1950) seeking facilitation.

          The verification of details can be done by furnishing copy of valid document such as Indian Passport, driving license, aadhar card, identity card of Govt./Semi Govt. Officials, Bank Pass book and Farmers Identify card.

DEKHAVA AND MATOLI COMPETITIONS RESULT DECLARED

Panaji ::: September 15, 2019 …  The result of state level Dekhava and Matoli Competition 2019, organized by Director of Art & Culture has been declared.

Dekhava competition the winners are 1st prize Rs. 25,000/- Charasta Sarvajanik Ganeshutsav Mandal, Canacona, 2nd prize Rs. 20,000/- Brameshwar Yuvak Sangh, Akhada, St. Estevam –Tiswadi,  3rd prize  Rs. 15,000/- Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Tudal, Netravali.

Five consolation prizes of Rs. 7,000/- each, Goa Reserve Police, Altino , Panaji, Shree Shantadurga Mahadev Pratisthan Ganeshotsav Mandal , Kavlem , Ponda,  Beticha Vighnharta, Malim, Betim,  Yuva Mala, Panaji and Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal Casarvarnem, Pernem.

Shri Eknath K. Mahale, Shri Deepak Gad and Shri Naguesh R. Sardesai Judged the Dekhava competition.

The Department has also declared the result of State level Matoli Competition 2019: winners are : 1st Prize – Rs. 15,000/- Shri Datta S. Naik (Gauthan Wada, Priol, Ponda), 2nd Prize – Rs. 10,000/- Shri Shrikant Pandhari Satarkar (Rait, Curti, Ponda), 3rd Prize – Rs. 7,500/- Shri Vishant Vasant Gaude (Kelbai, Curti, Ponda).

The winners of 5 consolation prizes of Rs. 5,000/- each are : Shri Gajanan Bandekar (Talule, Bandora, Ponda), Shri Ranganath D. Gaonkar (Gotha Wada, Betoda, Ponda), Shri Deepak D. Gaonkar (Satre, Sattari) and Shri Ranganath G. Gaonkar (Mayem, Bicholim).

The Competition was judged by Shri Rajendra P. Kerkar, Shri Sudesh G. Vaze and Shri Kanta Gaude.

The Winners of both Dekhava and Matoli Competitions will be awarded certificates and cash prizes at special function which will be held shortly.

CULTURAL TALENT SEARCH COMPETITION FOR STUDENTS

Panaji, September 14, 2019 … Directorate of Art and Culture had organized “Cultural Talent Search Competition” for the school students in Goa.

The competition is scheduled in the field of Vocal-Hindustani & Light Music, Vocal Western Classical, Pop, Cantaram, Harmonium, Tabla, Violin, Guitar, Keyboard, Drums, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Monologue, Essay and Poetry Writing in Konkani, Marathi, Hindi and English language and Handwriting in English and Devanangari Script and Drawing and Painting.

The Taluka level competition for performing events for North Goa Taluka will be held on 17th, 18th and 19th September and 24th, 25th & 26th September 2019 for South Goa Talukas.

The details of the competition for the North Goa Talukas is, On September 17th 2019: Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji the competition in Vocal Hindustani (Bardez & Sattari taluka), Vocal light Music (Bardez & Sattari taluka), Tabla Solo (Bardez & Sattari taluka), Harmonium (Bardez & Sattari taluka), Violin, Guitar, Drum & Kathak Cantaram (All North Goa talukas) will be conducted.

Bharatnatyam (Bardez, Bicholim & Sattari talukas) and Monologue (Bardez & Sattari taluka) at Institute of Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji.

The details of the activities have been informed through email for the respective schools in North and South Goa District separately. All the participants are requested to visit school office for details of the event schedule.

The participating students along with concerned coordinating teachers, accompanists and necessary instruments have to reach for registration of performing events by 8.15 a.m. at respective places with School ID cards & authority letter from the school to avail transport allowances. Refreshments & Lunch will be provided to the participants.

MEETING HELD TO SELECT DESIGN FOR SMRITI STHAL AT MIRAMAR

Panaji: September 13, 2019….Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant recently chaired the meeting held to select Architectural Firm for design of late Manohar Parikar Smriti Sthal at Miramar.

The meeting was also attended by the members of Jury committee which was held at Ministerial Block, Secretariat, Porvorim

 It was informed that the design of UCJ Architecture & Environment was selected for Smriti Sthal.

The work of Smriti Sthal will be executed under the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation.

The Members of Jury Committee comprises Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, as Chairman and other members of the committee includes MLA and Vice Chairman of GSIDC,  Shri Joshua P.de Souza, Principal of Goa College of Architecture Dr. Ashish K. Rege, Principal of Goa College of Art, Shri Mahesh Vengurlekar, Chief Town Planner  Shri James Mathew and Ms. Darpana Athle, External Architect  Expert.

 It was informed that seventeen bids were received by GSIDC and after initial round five were selected to make presentation before jury members, out of which four firms made their presentation before jury which includes M/s. Hiten Sethi Associates,  M/s. Lokus Design Pvt. Ltd., M/s. Rahul Deshpande and Associates, and M/s.UCJ Architecture & Environment.

Managing Director GSIDC,  Shri Srinet Kothwale and   General Manager GSIDC  Shri Sandip Prabhu Chodnekar also attended the meeting.
