PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST TO MARK TRIPURARI POORNIMA FESTIVAL

Panaji: November 24, 2015 … As part of the State level Tripurari Poornima festival celebration the Department of Information and Publicity will be organizing Photography contest on the theme ‘Moods of Tripurari Poornima Festivity’ all the residents of Goa irrespective of their age can participate in the photography Contest.

The winners of the competition will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 5000, Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2000 as first, second and third prize respectively. Besides three Consolation prizes of Rs. 1000 each will be awarded.

Those willing to take part in the contest can submit their entries in the office of Department of Information and Publicity Udyog Bhavan, 3rd floor Panaji-Goa latest by November 30, 2015 at 4.00 p.m.

 The rules and Regulations of the contest are as follows all participants from every field of study, discipline, level and area of professional experience and geographic region are welcome for the contest. Submission of the photograph grants Department of Information and Publicity the right to use the photograph in its media, website, marketing materials, or upcoming books and films. Applicants should submit photos only of individuals’ tableaus or any scene that they feel embodies the spirit of Moods of Triourari Poornima Festivity. Only colored printed photos will be accepted in the size of 8’’x12’’, the contest will be judged by the Panel of Professional Photographers.

BALSHIKSHAN MANDAL TO BE SET UP IN GOA: CM

Panaji: November 23, 2015 …. Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar has said that Goa has made impressive progress in the field of Education. Goan Doctors, Engineers, Nurses, Teachers, have a great demand in other States as well as in foreign Countries. To further strengthen the foundation of Education in Goa a Bal Shikshan Mandal will be constituted which will not have any political affiliated persons on the board.

 Chief Minister was speaking at the concluding function of Gomantak Bal Shikshan Conference at Ravindra Bhavan Margao recently. Speaking further the Chief Minister said that the foundation for children Education has to be strong and therefore the love of learning has to be inculcated right from the childhood. We were trying to do this and now this is coming to a reality.

Those present on the occasion were Smt Jyotiben Thandki Advisor Gujarat Bal Vishwavidhyalay, President of Ravindra Bhavan Shri Damu Naik, Director of Women & Chid Department Smt. Deepti Naik, President of Organizing Committee Dr. Rajrend Hedge and others.

4THBATCH OF GHRDC SECURITY PASSED OUT

Panaji: November 22, 2015 …. MLA and Vice-Chairman of Goa Human Resources Development Corporation Ltd. Dr. Pramod Sawant, yesterday at a function held at Belgundi Belgaum reviewed the passing out parade of the 4th batch of GHRDC Security Supervisors and Security Guards passed out from Indianeye Security Pvt. Ltd. after an impressive training of 8 weeks.

 While addressing the function Dr. Sawant has said that the intention of the Government behind imparting the training to these recruits was  to make them eligible to serve in various Government non Government organizations in the state. The various skills they have learned here can best be utilized in the larger interest of the security of the people. He suggested them to maintain their fitness performance hereafter when they will be deployed. He said that as the Government has endeavored to impart training which means the Government has secured the services of the trainees and they are to work with honesty and commitment he added. He also congratulated the recipients of various awards for their excellence in the training.

 The Chairperson of Vocational Skill Development Corporation Karnataka Smt. Pushpa Swami while speaking said that she was highly impressed with the concept of internal security which she said is need of the hour. She said she would recommend the same for the state of Karnataka and complimented Indianeye Security Institute for imparting successful training.

 Managing Director GHRDC Shri Madhukar Phal in his address complimented Indian Eye Security Institute for doing well which was expected to do and congratulated the trainees for excelling in the training.

The concept of GHRD is to provide jobs to the local youth after providing suitable training. Therefore  a total of 465 trainees  including 101 lady guards were trained for 8 weeks in various aspects of security related duties, drill, physical training, fire fighting operations, first aid, unarmed combat, guarding duties, crowd controlling, offensive and defensive driving etc.

 The trained guards now will take 9days on job training   various Government offices, hospitals and GTDC properties in the state. There after they will be deployed from 1Dec.2015. GHRDC will be  also providing security cover for IFFI 2015 at Panajim.

 Awards and certificates were awarded to best trainees in Drill, PT, and in Academics. Shri Anthony Philip Noronha of Bicholim and Ms. Shilpa Apasaheb Rane of Morle Sattari were adjudged as the best male and female trainees respectively for this batch.

 During the Parade the trainees gave salami shastr in the honour the Chief Guest Dr. Pramod Sawant. The trainees were divided in to 11 platoons and exhibited demonstrations of Lathi, medical first aid, VIP security, physical fitness, fire fighting, disaster and accident emergency offensive and defensive driving etc. The female Parade was headed by Ms Shilpa Rane and the male Parade was led by Shri Bhushan Sahakari.

 Dr. Sanjiv Dalvi, Director of Health Services, Col.Rtd. Austin Culaco, General Manager GHRDC,Shri Madhukar Phal, MD GHRDC,Smt. Laxmi Dhaul Spouse of Proprietor ISL, Senior Army Officers, Students of National Army School, Police personnel’s, Staff of ISL, of parents of trainees and others attended the function.

  The function was compered by SUB-APTC Bacchan Singh while  Director Training ISL Brig.Rtd. Subodh Kaul proposed the vote of thanks.

GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES STATE COOPERATIVE AWARDS

Panaji, November 21, 2015 ….  The Government of Goa has constituted the Goa State Cooperative Awards and Assistance Selection Committee for selecting awardees for the year 2013-14.

          The main objectives of giving these awards are to encourage the co-operators as well as employees of co-operators societies who have sincerely and tirelessly worked for the growth and development of the co-operative sector in the State of Goa and the Co-operative Societies, which are rendering good service to its members and the public at large.

          The Committee had called for the nominations from the interested co-operators and societies for being selected for the awards for the year 2013-14 and the last date for submitting the nominations was November 4, 2015.

          The committee has now decided to extend the time for submitting the nomination until December 4, 2015.

GOVERNMENT STRIVES TO UPHOLD THE INTEREST OF THE COMMON MAN –CM

Panaji: November 20,2015 …. The Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar in the distinguished presence of  Minister for Social Welfare Shri Mahadev Naik, presented sanction letters of  financial assistance to about 155 beneficiaries under the scheme grant of monthly financial assistance to the persons engaged in traditional occupations/business including motorcycle pilots at a function held in the seminar hall of the Secretariat.

The Government in the year 2012 formulated the  scheme Grant of Monthly financial assistance to the persons engaged in traditional occupation/business including motorcycle pilots, who are in their business inherited by their ancestors. The objective of the scheme is to preserve, encourage traditional occupations business etc. This scheme was made eligible to the person who attained the age of 50 and will get Rs.1000/- per month and thereafter attaining the age of 60 will be eligible for DSSY scheme to avail Rs.2000/- per month. Under this scheme the beneficiaries will get supplementary income in addition to their daily earning.

Shri Parsekar was recently speaking on the occasion said that Government on priority is striving to uphold the interest of the common man and therefore successfully formulating and implementing social welfare schemes every after six months. The schemes like Graha Adhar, Laadly Laxmi, DSSY, and various other schemes are benefited many people for which the Government incurs around Rs.800 crores every year.

Shri Parsekar further speaking also said that apart from implementation of social welfare schemes the Government is making rapid strides in infrastructural development as well, may it be construction of new bridge across Mandovi River or at many places in the state, Widening of roads throughout the state or strengthening infrastructure for tourist sector, education sector and laying of foundation stone for bridge across Zuari River which is scheduled on Decemebr 19.he informed.

Minister for Social Welfare, Shri Mahadev Naik while speaking said that Government is concernd about well being of the common and therefore successfully implementing about 52 social welfare schemes. The financial assistance provided under this scheme will help the beneficiaries to ease their hardship and supplement their daily income he added.

Shri Virendra Kumar IAS Secretary Social Welfare, Staff of the Department, and the beneficiaries of the scheme were those who present at the function.

Smt. Meena Naik Goltekar, Director of the Department of Social Welfare welcomed the guests.

The Old Goa police are about to send the white vest as well as the mud samples of the spot to find out whose blood it is.
 
It may be noted that Fr Bismarque was found dead, floating in the creek on 7 November, after a missing report was filed the previous day.

Unveiling of Vodafone GFDC Rising Star 3 Football Festival Trophies and Felicitation of Rising Stars

Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecom service providers and Goa Football Development Council (GFDC), today jointly unveiled the ‘Inter Centre League’ trophy of the ‘Vodafone GFDC Rising Stars Football Festival 2014’ at a gala ceremony at Bambolim Athletic Stadium. The trophy was unveiled at the hands of Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar, Chief Minister of Goa, Mr. Ashish Chandra, Business Head, Maharashtra and Goa, Vodafone India, Dr. Rufino Monteiro, Chairman – GFDC, Aleixo Da Costa, Member Secretary, GFDC and Football stars India International Climax Lawrence, Salgoancar SC Marquee player Scott and Salgaocar SC Coach Malcolm in the presence of more than 1000 kids from the qualifying teams andother dignitaries.

Sharing his views on this unique initiative for young and aspiring football talent in Goa, Ashish Chandra, Business Head – Maharashtra & Goa, Vodafone India said “We are extremely pleased as Vodafone GFDC Rising Stars Football Festival is getting bigger and better with each passing year. Chief Minister of Goa, Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar speaking on the occasion commended the efforts of GFDC, and organ setup by this government for development of the state sport, in spreading grassroot football all over Goa and at the same time complimented the Vodafone management for wisely investing in development of this grassroot children, an investment that will rich dividends in the years to come with Goa producing good footballers and not needing to import players for top Goan teams as is the practice now.

The third edition of ‘Vodafone GFDC Rising Stars Football Festival 2015’, kicked off on September 5, 2015 with the Intra Centre League. At the close of two month long battle in the 31 grassroots GFDC centres, over 1100 kids have qualified from 72 teams in U10 and U13 boys and U13 Girls, in the Inter Centre League. The Inter Centre League begins on November 28th, 2015 and will showcase over 200 matches till the Grand Finale in February 2016.

The 31 centres have been divided into eight zones wherein the teams will play against each other to find a place in the knock stage. The Top team from each zone in each category will make it to the knock out stage and battle it out for the coveted title of the championship.

Vodafone GFDC Rising Stars Football Festival 2015’ is an initiative of Vodafone India in association with Goa Football Development Council (GFDC). The festival was launched in 2013 as a six month long intra and inter-center football championship tournament, featuring teams from  grass root centres in Goa, namely Valpoi, Sulcorna, Aldona, Moira, Navelim, Benaulim, Khandepar, Pernem, Arambol, Parra, Arrpora, Mayem, Poira, Sanquelim, Savoi Verem, Marcel, Collem, Paroda, Shiroda, Quepem, Ambaulim, Utorda, Devabhag, Amone and Cuncolim. The tournament has been conceived exclusively for kids up to the age of 13 years. It aims at providing an excellent platform to identify and cultivate young local football talent across the State. This year the festival gets bigger and better with Vodafone partnering with GFDC for the third consecutive year, with the objective of imparting professional training and grooming to deserving upcoming football talent in the villages of Goa.

The matches under the Inter Centre League will be played in the competitive format on a home and away basis, as per FIFA guidelines. Each team will have seven members and have been split into three different categories: boys below 10 and 13 years and girls below 13 years. As in the Intra Circle level, the matches will be played on GFDC center grounds on weekends so that parents attend in huge numbers and even the young ones do not miss out on their academics. The entire festival is being conducted with the involvement of participants’ parents, village elders and other key local personalities as a mode of encouragement and morale boosting tool for the budding stars.

The slogan for the Vodafone GFDC Rising Stars Football Festival 2015’ amply reflects the spirit behind the initiative- ‘YEO PORA, GHE BOL. MAAR MOJA, SHOOT GOAL’. 

BLOOD DONATION AND ORGAN DONATION DRIVE BY THE INDIAN NAVY

panjim 17 nov…. As part of the Navy Week 2015 celebrations and Silver Jubilee of INAS339 Squadron, INHS Jeevanti in association with Goa Medical College (GMC) conducted a Blood Donation Camp on 17 Nov 2015. The Camp was inaugurated by Rear Admiral and Mrs Puneet K Bahl, VSM at INHS Jeevanti.

The Admiral along with 103 more donors from Goa Naval Are donated there blood and contributed towards the noble cause with a hope saving precious lives. The motivation and enthusiasm with which the Naval personnel and their families came forward for the blood donation drive was laudable.

An organ donation drive was also coordinated simultaneously whereNaval personnel and their families were registered. A formal pledge taking ceremony would be conducted by INAS 339 Squadron during their
Commissioning Day on 24 Nov 2015.

This reciprocal association between the Indian Navy and GMC would go long way in saving lives in times of emergency in a nation where blood availability in hospitals is always in shortage and every donated drop
counts.
