06/01/2016 … St cruz mla babush monsoratte had rubbished out the news of having differences between him and the former ccp mayor surendra furtado over the seat sharing of the upcoming cpp elections were concerned and has said that such doubts were created by opposition just to create confusion between him and the former ccp mayor

It may be noted that the St Cruz MLA Atanasio Babush Monserrate and former mayor Surendra Furtado had recently decided to join hands in the coming Corporation of the city of Panaji elections that are about to be held in early March but recently news had spread over the differences between the st cruz mla and the former ccp mayor which mr monsoratte totally denied off

Mr monsoratte said that mr furtado would definitely have his hand on the two ccp wards of his and his wife while the remaining 28 would be decided with the inclusion of new and old candidates from his panel

Mr monsoratte also expressed satisfaction over the courts decision over the delimitation process of ccp elections

04/01/2016 … The sixth edition of the bestseller Ishtann (in English) was released by Nirmal Kulkarni, noted Herpetologist, Environmentalist and Researcher and Megha Thakker, daughter of the author late Padma Mahalé in the presence of the Publisher of the book, Sapna Sardessai of Printer’s Devil at a small function at Suwadik restaurant in Panaji on monday.

Written by late Padma Mahalé and translated from the original Konkani version by Sapna Sardessai, Ishtann (meaning, friendly food) is a collection of traditional Saraswat recipes and other recipes that are popular with the Goan Hindus. Besides renowned cookbook authors, writers and end users, Late Manoharrai Sardesai has endorsed the book saying that “the language of Ishtann is clear and simple and the style is clean and crisp”. The recipes in this cookbook range from basic masalas to curries, rice dishes, breads and desserts.

Sapna Sardessai commenced the event by remembering late Padma Mahalé with gratitude and affection and revealed that she was the angel behind Printer’s Devil. Nirmal Kulkarni expressed happiness at releasing this book saying that in his field, any kind of compilation and documentation was very warming. He said that as a state we are known for our diversity, especially in our food and that this comes across abundantly in the book. Megha Thakker said that the function was not a celebration of the number of editions released or the number of books sold but a realization of her mother’s dream to make cooking easy for every young Goan who entered the kitchen.

04/01/2016 … The state nationalist congress party has criticized the former chief minister and central defence minister manohar parrikar who had stated that negative statements made by his opponents and NGO’s  should not be given coverage in to the state of goa thus exposing the dictatorial attitude of the Defence
Minister.

Addressing media persons in panjim state ncp spokesperson trojano dmello questioned as was it not the same Defence Minister as the then Opposition Leader who had demanded the scrapping of Regional Plan 2021 and promised to bring a new plan and now his party government had made u turn on it

Mr dmello said that mr parrikar was the same man who had promised to bring to book the loot of 32,000/- crores but stated that till date no one was been brought to book and rather officers were getting re-instated in the same scam

Secretary of goa cricket association vinod phadke who said that the corporate league tournament would have four teams from outside goa as well as four teams from the state

Mr phadke said that the corporate league tournament would be a fully sponsored league tournament

It may be noted that the Goa government has recently stated that edm festivals like Sunburn and Supersonic which the state hosts at Vagator and Candolim, respectively, won’t be held in the peak season of December 15-January 15 from the next year.

State Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar had categorically stated that the state government would not tolerate a clash in the event dates from the next year and should be conducted before December 15 or after January 15 from the next year …

Mr lobo said that he would like to request the tcp officials to see if an exercise could be done once again by village panchayts of the state by appointing experts in planning a proper regional plan for the village

Mr lobo also stated that there was a need to see that the regional plan 2021 to be a people friendly plan

30/12/2015 … Drishti Lifeguards in the state on Tuesday today began their indefinite strike in demand for the  regularization of their services.

it may be noted that the lifeguard services are being provided across all the 105 kilometre-long beach stretches in the state along with in addition to the water bodies like the Dudhsagar waterfall.
