panaji February 25, 2014 … Governor of Goa Dr. Smt. Mridula Sinha, felicitated eight NCC cadets from different colleges in Goa affiliated to 1 Goa Battalion NCC and 1 Goa Naval unit who were selected to participate in the Republic Day contingent at the parade  held in New Delhi on January 26.

The Governor lauded the NCC organization for instilling in the young cadets sense of discipline. She said parents need to encourage their wards to join the NCC as it make an individual smart, responsible and positive.

The Governor recalled her own days as NCC cadet on the occasion and congratulated the cadets who participated in the Republic Day camp thus making the state proud.

Deputy Director General of NCC, Goa and Karnataka Directorate, Air Commodore C. Rajeev also spoke on the occasion.

Incentives by State and the Governor were presented to the cadets on the occasion.

Col. Vineet Bhatia, Deputy Commandant, 2 Signals Training Centre, Goa, Group Commander, NCC Group Belgaum, Col. Kripal Singh, Commanding Officer of 1 Goa Battalion NCC Col. Nand Kishor Subedar and others were present.

North Goa Pre Conception-Pre Natal Diagnostic Technique (PC-PNDT) Advisory Committee has taken initiative to conduct Elocution, Poetry and Painting competitions for school level students of standard eight to tenth in all five taluka’s of North Goa District on February 27. The concept of the competition is to visualize female foetus awareness to enlighten the minds of the parents to save the girl child.

        District Magistrate, North Goa Shri Swapnil M. Naik on Friday chaired the meeting in his chamber at Collectorate of North Goa, Panaji and discussed various measures carried out under PC- PNDT Act.

The Technical officer of PC-PNDT Shri Aires Fernandes explained the update programme and the venue of the competition to be held in all five Taluka of North Goa, in detailed.

ADEI, Shri Narendra Naik, the coordinator of Pernem Taluka level has been entrusted responsibility to hold competition at St. Joseph High School, Pernem Taluka. ADEI Shri Nagesh Gawas, the coordinator of Bicholim Taluka level to organize competition at G.P.S, Bicholim Taluka. ADEI Smt. Jessy Periera, the coordinator of Bardez Taluka level to organize competition at Saraswat Vidyalay Mapusa, Anand Guiri Keni Hall, Bardez Taluka. ADEI Shri Rohidas Gaude, the Coordinator of Satteri Taluka level to organize competition at Government higher Secondary school, Valpoi, Sattari Taluka. All the winners of the North Goa Taluka will vie for the District level Awards

Further, during the meeting, Shri Naik said that from next Academic year, the advisory committee has decided to sign the memorandum of understanding with Director of Higher Education to enable the advisory committee of PC PNDT to conduct street play, slogan and other competition for college level to create mass  awareness on the issue of gender biased sex  selection in North Goa District.

Earlier, the renewals, purchases of new ultrasound equipment and  addition of operators which followed the criteria of the PC PNDT Act were approved by  the Advisory committee.

Panaji, February 21, 2016 …. The Lok Sabha Secretariat, New Delhi has organized a National Conference of Woman Legislatures on March 5 and 6, 2016 in New Delhi. The Conference has its Central theme-“Women Legislatures: Building Resurgent India” (Mahila Pratinidhi-Sashakt Bharat Ki Nirmata). The Conference has been conceptualized by the  Speakers Research Initiative (SRI) and is being organized under the auspices of Indian Parliamentary Group.

The Conference is intended to provide the first ever such chance  and platform for Women Legislatures from all parts of India to interact  with their counter parts from other states, with MP’s, Chief Ministers,  Union Ministers and a few very eminent Pillars of Judiciary and higher  Bureaucracy. These  interactions and guidance from seniors is intended to  sharpen the skills and abilities of new Legislators to perform  their Legislative and  Non-Legislative  leadership roles with a  Sharper focus and greater effectiveness.

It is intended that the eminent Speakers, discussants, session moderators and delegates-all of whom will be Legislators and  MP’s with  engaged in very intensive, in depth and focused dialogue with the  purpose that clear ideas for action, study and road maps for future emerge.

The Chief Minister who led the people of the State in paying tributes to  Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the State level Chhatraapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti Celebrations organized by Department of Information & Publicity in association with Zilla Panchayat  Member Bandora & Village Panchayat Bandora at Farmagudi near Ponda recently.

The Chief Minister said the great  Maratha King Shivaji was known for his bravery able and  shrewd  administration and wisdom and also for planned development. He said Shivaji always stood for discipline and to protect the interest of the common man.

The function was attended by Minister for PWD Shri Ramkrishna Dhavlikar, Minister for Industries Shri Mahadev Naik, Minister for Factories and Boilers Shri Pandurang Dhavlikar Shri Lavoo Mamledar, MLA, Dr. Deepak Deshpande, Keynote Speaker from Sangali, Maharashtra, ZP member Smt. Chitra Phadte, Secretary Information & Publicity Shri Sudhir Mahajan, Director of Information & Publicity Shri Jayant Tari, Smt. Nayan Naik, Sarpanch of Bandora panchayat, Deputy Sarpanch Santosh Phadte and Shri  N. Shivdas, President of Gopal Ganpati Devasthan.

The Chief Minister informed that this is the 386^th birth anniversary  celebration of Shivaji Maharaj and for past many years this annual event is celebrated in Goa at the State level. The legendary Maratha Warrior he said will always be remembered by the people for centuries to come for his vision, foresight and deeds. The Chief Minister also called for presentation and enrichment of moral values and to follow the thoughts and principles of Shivaji Maharaj to weed out corruption and for good governance.

Minister for PWD Shri Ramkrishna Dhavlikar said inculcating good virtues of Shivaji in the minds of people will be befitting tributes to the great Maratha king.

Minister for Industries Shri Mahadev Naik said  that Shivaj Maharaj with his able leadership and qualities always won battles against his foes.

Dr. Deepak Deshpande who delivered the keynote address highlighted the qualities of Shivaji Maharaj  in regard to his bravery, courage and wisdom in building Maratha kingdom.

Shri Lavoo Mamledar, MLA also spoke on the occasion.

The Chief Minister also released a  book titled Mahiti Stotra written by Shri N. Shivdas, the president of Gopal Ganpati Devasthan.

Panaji: February 19, 2016 … Minister for Women and Child Development  Shri  Dilip Parulekar inaugurated the renovated and upgraded Girls Wing of Apna Ghar at Merces- Goa, in distinguished presence of Shri Sudhir Mahajan , IAS, Secretary  for Women and Child Development Smt. Shilpa Shinde, Director, for Women and Child  Development and other dignitaries.

The renovation work was undertaken and carried out by the GSIDC Ltd. M/s Bhaskar Wagle & Associates are the design consultants for the project.

This shelter for the homeless children and children in conflict with the law has been sensitively renovated and upgraded using a very holistic approach.         

The design segregates the different types of juvenile based on age, sex.  The building has been provided with the easy to maintain, clean and hygienic infrastructure.

The idea is to create a free and open yet secured environment for the children. The renovated building boasts of very playful interiors with lot of greenery and landscape gardens, and has music, which is known to have very calming effects on the human behavior.

Attempt has been to be strive  and create designs for the facility based on the theory that “environment cures behavior”, a more positive approach then the purely punitive one.
