GOVT IMPLEMENTS ONORC SCHEME

Government of India, Department of Food and Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, have introduced One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) Scheme for the nation-wide portability of ration cards under National Food Security Act (NFSA). Through this, all eligible ration card holders/beneficiaries covered under NFSA can access their entitlements from anywhere in the country. Accordingly, Government of Goa have also implemented ONORC Scheme in the State of Goa in 2020.

This system allows all NFSA beneficiaries, particularly migrant beneficiaries, to claim either full or part foodgrains from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) in the country through existing ration card with biometric/Aadhaar · authentication in a seamless manner. The system also allows their family members back home, if any, to claim the balance food grains on same the ration card. As on February 2022, 35 States/UTs have implemented the Scheme as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.

GOVT HAS PROVIDED ADEQUATE INFRA FOR INDUSTRIES : CM

Government has made available adequate infrastructure for the industry sector for operating their industries in the State. The onus to provide and avail employment opportunities to eligible local youth lies upon the stakeholders industries. IT industries in collaboration with the Government through the TIP cell of Directorate of Higher Education have strived to provide employment to Goan youth, said Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant after officially inaugurating Training, Internship & Placement ( TIP ) Cell of Directorate of Higher Education at a function held at Patto in the City today.

The Chief Minister said the creation of the Training, Internship & Placement (TIP) Cell with tagline “Inspire to Aspire”, an initiative under New Education Policy by the Directorate of Higher Education, has an objective to provide jobs to Goan youth in the industry sector.

The Chief Minister underscored the need to develop a culture where a child learns to decide about his career and begins to work at an early age. He congratulated the aspiring graduates of Bsc. Computer Science students who are fortunate to receive placement in IT industries when they were in their final year.

The Chief Minister further said the Directorate of Higher Education from the last three years has endeavored to conduct placement drives for Bsc. Computeri Science Students of various colleagues which resulted in recruiting around 40 IT Students for IT industries in Goa. He appreciated the representatives of various IT industries for providing employment avenues for Goan IT students.

The 40 students who received placement from IT industries in Goa and who are already employed were given offer letters at the hands of the Chief Minister.

The Director of Higher Education Shri Prasad Lolyenkar IAS in his welcome address informed that under TIP initiative students pursuing IT courses from various colleges were invited to attend the placement drive and as a result 40 students were directly recruited and issued offer letters today. He appreciated the Stakeholders of the IT industry sector for extending cooperation during training and placement drives.

IT Industry Association Representative, Shri Milind Anvekar in his address informed that there require around 300 IT graduates for IT industries in Goa. Earlier they were struggling to get IT graduates for IT industries, he said and added that the Goa Government helped them through the TIP cell for which he thanked the Government. He said the IT industry particularly in Goa is very high. Four IT companies in Goa have employed more than 1300 students from Goa. There is a big demand for IT graduates for the IT industry and the demand is much more than the supply he informed.

FLYING SQUADS FORMED TO CHECK ILLEGAL /UNAUTHORISED EXCAVATION, QUARRYING

The flying squad shall comprise of Mamlatdar and Executive Magistrate of respective taluka, Police Inspector of concerned Police Station or any Police Officer authorized by him not below the rank of Asst. Sub-Inspector, 2 Police Constables, Official as authorized by the Directorate of Mines and Geology, Assistant Engineer or any such Officer as authorized by the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD), Asst. Motor Vehicle Inspector or any such officer as authorized by the Transport Department and Directorate of Settlement and Land Records(DSLR), survey staff attached to the office of the Mamlatdar.

Complaints received by any Department/Offices pertaining to illegal quarrying shall be referred to the respective flying squads.

The flying squads shall inspect and initiate action within 48 hours of receipt of the same/intimation thereof. FIR shall be filled against the person/s found carrying illegal extraction/ transportation and the respective landowners. Action taken report shall be forwarded to the Collector and District Magistrate with copy to Director of Mines.

The machinery, equipment and vehicles used in extraction and transportation shall be sized and kept in the custody of Police Department.

The PWD shall make necessary arrangement to carry the seized machinery, vehicles and other equipment to the respective police station.

The District level 24×7 helpline set up for sand extraction complaints shall also be extended for receiving complaints of illegal quarrying. Proper records of complaints received by the help lines shall be maintained by the Collectors of the respective districts and the complaints shall be immediately communicated to the flying squad.

GOVERNOR URGES ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES TO WORK FOR THE BETTERMENT OF SOCIETY

The Governor today visited Saligao and Aldona in Bardez taluka as a part of his “Sampurna Goa Yatra”.
Recollecting the Beautiful memories of village life in Kerala, Governor of Goa Shri P.S Sreedharan Pillai said whenever I visit beautiful villages in Goa, it’s greenary and coconut trees remind me of my village life having been born and brought up in Village in Kerala.
Speaking further he said Mahatma Gandhi once stated that Gram Swaraj is the only solution to develop the country and added that elected representatives have to work for the betterment of society and the development of villages.
We all are public servants and have to work to serve society. Taking this into account, Raj Bhavan has taken various initiatives to serve the people. Last year the Raj Bhavan provided financial assistance to 71 dialysis patients from the Governor’s discretionary fund though the target was to reach out to 71 patients. Now I can proudly say that 500 dialyses patients have benefitted from these discretionary funds besides providing assistance to old-age homes and institutions from the Discretionary Fund, he remarked.
He highlighted the recently announced Financial Aid Scheme by Raj Bhavan to provide financial aid to cancer patients for treatment.
The Governor Earlier offered prayers and took the blessings of Shree Ganesh Deity at Shree Siddhivinayak Sagar Saustha Nerul and later visited the Mae De Deus Church at Saligao and understood the History and culture of that particular Church.
Later, the Governor visited Village Panchayat Pilerne and interacted with Sarpanchas, Deputy Sarpanch and Members of Village Panchayats of Guirim, Saligao, Sangolda, Reis Magos and Nerul, Listening to grievances put forth by the elected representatives on employment, infrastructure, electricity problem etc, he assured to try his best to redress their issues.

Freddy Fernandes presented brief report of their respective villages and discussed various major issues like Garbage Problem, Protection of wall near River and Road side , construction of New Market complex, beautification of various places to make the tourist spot etc.
Interacting with the Sarpanch and Panch members ,Governor of Goa Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai assured the Villagers to take up their issues with the new Government and asserted that he will work hard for the happiness of the people of Goa.
Earlier the Governor visited St. Thomas Church at Aldona.

TIATR COMPETITION FOR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) will organize 2nd All Goa Inter Collegiate/HSS Tiatr Competition for the students of educational institutions at Higher Secondary/College level. The competition will be held from October 6, 2022 to October 15, 2022 from 3.30 pm onwards at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem-Goa.

Detailed rules and regulations of the competition and application form are available on the website of TAG https://tiatracademyofgoa.com and at the office of Tiatr Academy of Goa. Last date to apply in the prescribed application form along with a typed copy of the script and lyrics of kantaram is September 26, 2022 during office hours.

FDA IMPOSES PENALTY FOR MANUFACTURING AND SELLING SUB-STANDARD CASHEWNUTS

Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration has informed that the District Collector, North Goa and South Goa in the capacity of Adjudicating Officer under Food Safety and Standards Act have disposed off, one case each in which the manufacturer and the seller have been imposed with penalties for manufacturing and selling sub-standard cashewnuts.

Both the manufacturers have been fined Rs. 10,000/- each and the seller in South-Goa have been fined collectively Rs. 10,000/-.

Adjudicating case in North Goa was filed by Food Safety Officer, Shri. Atul Dessai had drawn a sample from a shop at Calangute Bardez Goa. The Sample of Cashewnuts was found failing in free fatty acid, Superficial damage, Speckled or spotted black or brown kernels, insects damage, and also presence of off flavor and taste.

The second sample of Cashewnuts was drawn by Food Safety Officer, Zenia Rosario, from a super market of Margao; of a manufacturer situated at Sattari-Goa. The said sample was declared as sub-standard as the damaged/discoloured units were more than the maximum permissible limit as provided in the Regulations.

The above samples of Cashewnuts were drawn as a part of regular surveillance procedure; and also based on the complaint received, regarding quality of cashewnuts.

The drive against the sub-standard cashewnuts will continue, as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.

13th Governing Council Meeting & 4th AGM of AIFORERA Held

The All India Forum of Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (AIFORERA) held its Thirteenth Governing Council Meeting and Fourth Annual General Body Meeting in the city today.
AIFORERA was registered as a society in 2019 for the various Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (RERAs) to come together, share their experience, and learn from each other. The conference was hosted by the Goa RERA and attended by 14 RERA Chairpersons of various States and Union Territories.

STATE WINNING SCHOOL TEAM TO REPRESENT STATE

The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs is deputing the State winning school team to participate in the “61st Edition of National Subroto Mukharjee Cup U/14 Sub-Junior Boys Football Tournament” in New Delhi from 6th to 15th September 2022.

The team is seen with Smt. Jennifer Ferrao e Gonsalves, Dy. Director of Sports and Youth Affairs along with Headmistress and Physical Education Teachers from Perpetual Succour Convent H/S, Navelim, and officials of the Department.

ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES & VOTERS SHARE CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP: PILLAI

Governor, Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai asserting that elected representatives and voters share cordial relations in the State said elected representatives always listen to the grievances of the people patiently and are always accessible to the people for which I am impressed.

The Governor, Shri. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai visited Shree Vithal Mandir, Karapur, Sankhali in Bicholim Taluka and Valpoi and Honda in Sattari taluka today as part of “Sampurna Goa Yatra”.

Shri Pillai on his arrival at Shree Vithal Mandir, Karapur, Sankhali was received by Former Chief Minister and President of Shree Vithal Devasthan Shri Pratapsingh Rane, Dr. Deviya Rane, MLA, Poriem and others. Shri Rane briefed him about the functioning and history of the oldest temple in Karapur, Sankhali.  The Governor offered Darshan and prayers at the Temple.

At Valpoi, the Governor was received by Dr. Deviya Rane, MLA, Poriem and Chairman, Forest Corporation. Present on the occasion were Smt. Shaijjin Shaikh, Chairperson Valpoi Municipal Council, Shri Anil Katkar, Vice Chairperson, Shri Sanjiv Gauns Desai, Addl. Collector, North Goa, Shri Pravin Parab, Dy. Collector, Suryajirao Rane, Block Development Officer, Shri Mihir Vardhan, IAS(Retd), Secretary to the Governor and  Shri Vinod Shinde.

Later, the Governor interacted with newly elected Sarpanchas and Members of Village Panchayats of Honda, Poriem, Morlem, Kerim, Bhirondem, Pissurlem, Mauxi, Dongurli, Thane Nagargao, Sanvordem, Cotodem and Guleli at MLA Office Hall, Valpoi.

Shri Amit Shirodkar, Sarpanch Morlem, Shri Udaysingh Rane, Sarpanch, Bhironda presented a brief report of their concerned villages.

Highlighting the remarkable progress made by the State Government, Shri Pillai said, if you consider the per capita income index, Goa is at the top position while for the happiness index it is Mizoram State which is in the first position.

The Governor informed that Rajbhavan will look into their representations from various Panahayats in the State. The demands made by Sarpanchas will be handed over to the concerned departments and will also personally pursue the matter till it is solved, he pointed.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Deviya Rane, MLA, Poriem complimented the initiatives taken by the Governor for the betterment of the public and informed that the Governor office till now have helped 71 NGO’s and have provided financial assistance for more than 420 dialysis patients.

Through the on-going Sampurna Goa Yatra, the Governor is witnessing the social fabric and the problems faced by the people from across the State. We Goans are living a modern life, but at the same time no one has forgotten the cultural traditions and the historic culture of our State, she said.

Putting across her vision to develop Sattari taluka Dr. Rane underscored the idea of improving the economic activities in Sattari taluka and also showed keen interest to boost eco-tourism activities in Sattari taluka in years to come.

The Governor disbursed financial assistance for Dialysis patients in Sattari taluka.

Earlier, Shri Suryajirao Rane, Block Development Officer welcomed the guest. Shri Pravin Parab proposed a vote of thanks.

Later, Governor, Shri. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai visited the ACGL plant at Bhuimpal Sattari.

Ajay, CEO and Executive Director of ACGL. Shri Ajay briefed them about the functioning of ACGL and BBD departments.
