PANEL DISCUSSION ON TRANSFORMING GOAN HOSPITALITY SECTOR INTO A EAT RIGHT MODEL HELD
A panel discussion on the topic of “Transforming Goan Hospitality Sector into an Eat Right Model” In the Country held today at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium for World of Hospitality Expo.
The Panelist included Mr. Richard Noronha, Designated Officer, Directorate of Food and Drugs Goa, Mrs. Dorothy Pereira, Manager, IHCL Hotels; Mr. Sanjay Bhandari, Head, Factory Corporate Affairs, Nestle India Ltd.; Pooja Bedi, Actor & Wellness Ambassador; Chef Sunit Sharma, VP, Culinary Forum of Goa & Culinary Mentor. A brief discussion was held on the topic which included Eat Right initiatives taken up by Food Business Operators and the challenges faced on the same, also the panelist provided the audience with their valuable insights and their ideologies on ‘Eating Safe and Wholesome Food’.
They spoke on the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and making conscious changes to our dietary patterns. The FDA in coordination with the FSSAI has launched several initiatives like Eat Rights Campus for institutes, offices, hospitals, jails which aims at ensuring the food served at such places is safe wholesome and sustainable. Similarly the other initiatives are Eat Right Schools, Hygiene Rating etc.
The panel members assured their support to the FDA in making Goa an Eat Right Model State and has sought the participation and cooperation from all food business operators as well as citizens.

NATIONAL SPORTS AWARDS FOR THE YEAR 2022-23
Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Campal, Panaji, Goa has informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs will be conferring several Awards: “Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, Dhyan Chand Award, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar (RKPP) and Maulana Abdula Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy for the year 2022” to prominent persons in the field of Sports.
The eligible Players/Coaches/Entities who have excelled at the National and International level tournaments during the year April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and deputed by the concerned Sports Federations may submit their applications on the Ministry Portal dbtyas-sports.gov.in. between September 21, 2022 to September 27, 2022.

CM INAUGURATES INTERNATIONAL CIVIL ENGINEERING CONFERENCE
Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated 3 days 9th International Civil Engineering Conference in the Asian Region (CECAR9) organized by Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council (ACECC) and hosted by the Institution of Civil Engineers (India) (ICE(I)) under the theme “Sustainable Design and Eco Technologies for Infrastructure” at Taj Resort and Convention Centre, Dona Paula.
Dr Sawant asserted that the whole world is looking at India with curiosity as India has occupied that envisaged position with the contribution of manufacturers. He said, India has given the honor to host CECAR9 for the first time. Initiatives of the Civil engineers on sharing the expertise in the civil engineering related issues in various Asian countries in specific and in the world as a whole benefits humanity. He applauded the work of ACECC towards advancement of civil engineering through its various technical commitments to promote collaborative work towards sustainable development of the infrastructure with the world wide organizations, he added.
Speaking further Dr Sawant said, Goa has a high potential due to the contribution of port, rail, road, airport and plentiful water resource, excellent lifestyle and infrastructure resources. Goa has the opportunity to shape the infrastructure in the future on a sustainable basis. We need to exploit the capacity so that we can fast track the growth to provide the platform for realizing the Prime Minister’s vision local for global. PMs Vision aims to bring together the entire relevant stakeholder under the single roof so that it highlights the progress of India, he said.
Goa has the oldest architectural structures built during the Portuguese regime. He ought valued inputs and urged the delegates to address and recommend solutions for the various issues faced by Goa being a coastal State. Rise in the sea level due to climate change and requirement of advance solution for offshore constructions are some of the issues. Goa depends on a blue economy and only if marine pollution is controlled then only tourism will sustain. We want to save the environment and inspire our resilient and sustainable infrastructure for the future generation, he said.
PVSM, VSM, ADC, Engineer-in-Chief, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, Lt Gen Harpal Singh said, knowledge shared is knowledge multiplied. This conference will benefit the infrastructure scenario in the country. After being hit by global pandemic, it’s now time for global cooperation and multilateral coordination. Skills, vision and spirit of innovation of engineers will help the country to build its future, he said.
Chairman, ICE (I), Dr S L Swamy; DR R M Vasan; Secretary General, ACECC, Udai P Singh; Shri Sagar Singh Thakur; Smt Maya Thakur were present on the occasion. Representatives of 16 Asian countries participated in this conference.

GOVERNOR OF GOA & GUJARAT LAUNCHES PROJECT OF NATURAL FARMING
NORTH GOA ZP MEET DISCUSSES DEVELOPMENTAL WORKS, FUND UTILIZATION
The meeting of North Goa Zilla Panchayat (ZP) was held at the Secretariat in Porvorim today. The President of North Goa Zilla Parishad, Shri Siddesh Naik presided over the meeting that deliberated on various issues pertaining to development. Administrative fund for development was a core issue discussed and members discussed how to utilise the accumulated fund of Rs. 33 crore by taking up developmental works across North Goa. The members also underscored the need to set up mechanism for using the said fund.
Members were assured at the meeting that electric fixtures that were not given during the festivity of Ganesh Chaturthi would be provided during Diwali festival. Other developmental works discussed included sewerage, drainage, constructing toilets etc.
The question pertaining to construction of North Goa Zilla Panchayat Bhavan was discussed and it was informed that there was no provision for such project.

CM PRESENTS CERTIFICATE OF HONOUR TO MARTYR RAJBHAU POSTHUMOUSLY
Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday presented the Certificate of Honour to Smt Aditi Anthekar the granddaughter of Martyr Rajabhau Alias Narayan Mahankal for his patriotism, bravery and valour in Goa’s freedom struggle at ‘Mahalaxmi’, Altinho, Panaji.
Martyr Rajabhau Alias Narayan Mahankal -born at Ujjain in MP on 26 January 1923 at the call of GVSS joined the group of Satyagrahis under the leadership of comrade Chitale and Vasantrao Oak. They entered Goa via Banda and offered Satyagraha at Patradevi on August 15, 1955. He was seriously wounded in the indiscriminate firing by the Portuguese Police and was taken in an ambulance along with Sahodara Devi Rai to St. lukes Hospital, Vengurla where he died the same day.
While interacting with granddaughter of Martyr Rajabhau Alias Narayan Mahankal Chief Minister said that to mark the celebration of 75 glorious years of India’s Independence day, the Goa Government had taken an initiative to honour the families of 75 martyrs from Goa and other parts of India, who had participated in ‘Satyagraha’ to liberate Goa.
