GOVT COMMITTED TO PROVIDE VALUE EDUCATION TO CHILDREN: CM

Panaji: 30/07/2016 …. Chief Minister, Shri Laxmikant Parsekar has said Government is committed to provide valuable education to the students of Goa. The IIT, Goa which will be inaugurated at Farmagudi tomorrow is one of the initiative in this direction he said. Various initiatives and schemes are launched to raise the quality education in the state, he added.

Shri Parsekar was speaking at the distribution of financial Assistance to the students under the ‘Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Duyanvriddhi Shishyavrutti (Bursary Scheme) at Seminar Hall, Secretariat, Porvorim, today.

Earlier, Director of Education Shri Gajanan Bhatt and Shri Venkat, CEO, Shantilal Mukta Foundation signed the MOU aimed at Value education and Yoga Education in Primary Government School. The Government has selected 200 Government Primary Schools on a pilot basis and the students will be trained by Master resources persons.

Speaking further, Shri Parsekar said no student will remain uneducated for want of finance in Goa. Government is doing its best to bring quality education and have initiated various concepts to bring value education right from the primary level.  Government aims to have value education from primary level to develop and improve their personality and be conversant with the cultural ethos of this civilized society and just not go for merely bookish knowledge, he remarked.

Chief Minister disbursed financial assistance to the tune of Rs 40,000 each to 334 students. Total 490 students benefited under the schemes.

Shri Virendra Kumar, IAS, Secretary Education, , Shri Bhaskar Nayak, Director Higher Education, Shri Ganjanan Bhat, Director Education were present on the occasion.

Shri Shripad Patnekar, Chairman Goa Education Development Corporation welcomed the guests.

TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENT FOR FREEDOM FIGHTERS DURING I-DAY CELEBRATIONS

Panaji: July 29, 2016Home Department has made arrangement of Kadamba buses bearing registration No.GA-03-X-291 and GA-03-X-303. The bus bearing registration No. GA-03-X-0291 will be parked near “Hutatma Chowk” Mapusa at 8.00 am on August 15, 2016. The bus will collect the Freedom Fighters from Mapusa and drop them at Panaji to attend the Independence Day function at 8.45 am.

After the function at Old Secretariat, Panaji, the following buses parked near Old Secretariat, Panaji will proceed to Patradevi. MATOLI AND DEKHAWA COMPETITION

 Panaji: July 28, 2016 … The Directorate of Art and Culture has organized all Goa  Matoli frames, and Dekhawa competitions during Ganesh Festival in Goa with an objective to promote and preserve the age old tradition of Matoli frames and Dekhawa presentation on scenes on historical and mythological stories.

The Matoli decoration competition will be for individuals  households only which will be conducted from the 3rd to the 6th day of Ganesh Chaturthi Festival. 1st prize Rs. 15,000/-, 2nd prize Rs. 10,000/-, and 3rd prize Rs. 7500/-. There will be five consolation prizes of Rs. 5,000/-  each.

The Dekhawa presentation competition will be only for Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandals. The same will be conducted form the 7th to the 10th day of Ganesh Chaturthi Festival. 1st prize Rs. 25,000/-, 2nd prize Rs. 20,000/- and 3rd prize Rs. 15000/- .Also five consolation prizes of Rs. 7,000/- each will be awarded. However, in absence of significant number of participants, the department reserves the right to hold or to cancel the competition.

Interested individuals and Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandals may collect the application forms for participating in the competition, from the office of the Directorate of Art and Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji (ph.2404640), Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem, Margao, Baina Vasco, Sankhali and Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda  from August 1, 2016 and submit the duly filled forms in all respect by August 16, 2016.

NATIONAL AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM

Panaji: July 27, 2016 …. Press Council of India has announced National Awards for Excellence in Journalism on the Golden Jubilee Commemoration of the Press Council.

 November 16, is observed as the National Press Day every year by the Press Council of India. A function will be held in Delhi coinciding with conferment of National Awards for excellence in Journalism by honoring Journalist, Photographers and Freelancers excelling in print journalism in various fields.

RE-REGISTRATION OF NON-LPG CARD HOLDERS DATE EXTENDED

Panaji: July 26, 2016 …. The date for inviting applications from the non LPG beneficiaries to register themselves and avail subsidized kerosene supply and benefits of DBTK Scheme of the Government of India has been further extended till July 30, 2016.

The ration card holders who are not having LPG connection and thus eligible for kerosene supply are requested to select any one existing Fair Price Shop nearest to them, having license to sell Kerosene and re-register/enroll themselves to avail subsidized kerosene supply and benefits of DBTK Scheme of the Government of India at the respective Taluka Civil Supplies offices of the Department of Civil Supplies. Prescribed forms are available in the respective Taluka Offices and are also downloadable form the department website: www.goacivilsupplies.gov.in

IMPLEMENT MAINTENANCE AND WELFARE OF PARENTS AND SENIOR CITIZENS ACT- COLLECTOR SOUTH

Panaji: July 25, 2016 … The Collector of South Goa Shri Swapnil Naik, IAS, has stressed the need of implementation of the Maintenance & Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act in the proper spirit & letter by the Sub Divisional Magistrates who heads Maintenance tribunal at the taluka level.

 Collector was recently addressing a one day Sensitization programmer i.e. “MANTHAN” on implementation of Maintenance & Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act, 2007 at Collectorate South Goa, Margao organized by District Social Welfare office Margao under Directorate of Social Welfare.

 Collector has highlighted the needs of inculcating moral values in the young mind & also advised the government departments such as Health, Police, transport to implement the act as envisaged by the Parliamentarian.

 Shri Santan Fernandes, Deputy Director of Social Welfare made a power point presentation on the various schemes & facilities provided by the various State & Central Government Departments.  He also highlighted various Provisions of the “Maintenance & Welfare of Parents  & senior Citizes Act, 2007”  & Rules 2009.

 Prof. Sandhya Ram from V. M. Salgaonkar college of Law spoke about the legal aspect of the Maintenance Act.

 Dr. Doreen Dias from Hospicio highlighted the needs of the Senior Citizen their health point of view.

 Shri Anil Pai,  a Senior  journalist & Social activist spoke on the Role of Society & Public  responsibilities towards the Senior Citizens.

 The programme was attended by Dy. Collector, Mamlatdars, Doctors, Police, Advocates, BDO’s, teachers, CPDO’s, Mukhya Sevikas, Students, N.G.O.s & others.

 Earlier Smt. Supriya Arolkar, Member Secretary welcomed the gathering. Shri Raghuvir Desai, Grade I teacher, Rosary Higher Secondary, Naveli compared & President Minguel Mascarenhas proposed the vote of thanks.

SANJAY SCHOOL CELEBRATES VAN MAHOTSAVA

July 24,2016 … Sanjay Centre for Special Education Goa, Porvorim Goa has celebrated Van Mahatsav (Tree Plantation) Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar, Hon.ble Chief Minister of Goa planted the tree in the presence of Shri. Guruprasad Pawaskar, Chairman, Sanjay Centre for Special Education Goa, Shri. Rajesh Volvaikar, Panch Member, Penha-de-France Panchayat, Mr. Taha Haaziq, Smt. Kamala Nigudkar, Board Member, Sanjay Centre for Special Education Goa, Shri. Tatu Kudalkar, Headmaster, Sanjay School, Porvorim and students and teachers.

     This Van Mahatsav will be observed for 10 days i.e from 21st July to 30th July 2016. The various types of trees will plant in surrounding area of Porvorim and also the Panchayat area such as Soccor, Salvador-de- Mund and Penha-de-France. The total 150 trees will be planted in these 10 days by the students of Sanjay School informed Shri. Guruprasad Pawaskar, Chairman, Sanjay Centre for Special Education Goa. He further said that Sanjay School will strive hard for the welfare of the society. In future also, project such cleanliness drive, creating awareness about disability and any other project which will benefit to the society will be taken up by the students & teachers.

     Prior to this after planting the tree Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar, Hon.ble Chief  Minister appreciated the Chairman, Management, Teachers and students for taking up an initiative of planting the 150 trees in Porvorim area.

COURSE ON CRAB CULTURE ON JULY 28

Panaji:  July 23, 2016 … The Directorate of Fisheries will conduct three days Short Term Training Course on Crab Culture is scheduled on July 28, to July 30, 2016 at Fishermen Training Centre of the Directorate of  Fisheries  at Ela Dhauji Old  Goa and field visit will be undertaken on July 29, 2016 at Sindhudurg District Maharashtra.

MUNICIPALITIES NEED TO BE SELF SUFFICIENT: D’SOUZA

Panaji:  July 22, 2016 … Dy. Chief Minister, Shri Francis D’Souza advocated the need for Municipalities to be self-sufficient, being independent bodies and asserted the need to have people friendly system like online payment to make it easy and simple for people to effect payments.

 The Dy. Chief Minister was speaking at the distribution of Tata Ace Hopper Tippers to all the Municipalities for collection of garbage under Swacch Bharat Nital Goem Mission through GSUDA at Margao yesterday.  In all 43 Hopper Tippers to all the municipalities based on their needs.

 Speaking further, Shri D’ Souza informed that the new Municipality Act will replace the existing one which will be tabled in the forthcoming Monsoon Session. The new Act will have Ward-wise Citizen Monitoring Committee.  These committees will recommend the nature of work that needs to be taken up in their respective wards.  This will only be recommendatory committees, he added. 

 Revenue generation is a big issue Most of the Municipalities are not doing enough on the front of revenue collection.  They need to atleast send notices to sensitize people to make the payments, he remarked.

 Shri D’Souza also suggested that the Municipalities of the District get together to exchange ideas and views.  This will help to implement the best practices in their respective Municipalities, he remarked.

 The Dy. Chief Minister said “Garbage is a universal problem and has to be deat it with our hearts.  Segregation and scientific disposal of the garbage has to be ensured to achieve success”,

 Director of Municipal Administration and Member Secretary GSUDA, Shri Elvis Gomes informing the Municipalities that Government has been providing all the logistics to achieve success in the Swacch Bharat Nital Goem Mission urged to take up the challenge jointly to achieve the desired goal.

 Chairperson, Margao Municipal Council, Smt. Babita Angle Prabhudessai and the Territory Manager, Tata Motors, Shri Swapnil also spoke on the occasion.  The function was attended by Chairpersons, Vice-Chairpersons, Councillors and Chief Officers of all the Municipalities.

 Shri J. Hossamani, Chief Project Engineer, GSUDA proposed the vote of thanks.

SECTION 144 DURING ASSEMBLY SESSION

Panaji: July 21, 2016 … District Magistrate, North Goa has prohibited the assembly and gathering of five or more persons and taking out or organizing of  processions, The carrying of firearms or weapons of offences such as lathis, swords, daggers or spears,

The use of loudspeakers, The shouting of slogans and Burning of fire crackers near the petrol pumps and at the venues of meetings  in  any public place, street, road square, thoroughfare, by-lane or in any open space within the radius of 500 meters around the Assembly Complex at Porvorim and the area under the jurisdiction of Panaji Police Station.

The District Magistrate has further directed that the above restriction shall not apply to public servants on duty and to bonafide marriage or funeral processions or any special occasion or occasion which in the opinion of the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrates, are genuine and for which prior permission in writing have been be obtained from the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate or the Sub-Divisional Magistrate concerned.

This order will come into force w.e.f 9.00 a.m  of July 25, 2016 and will remain in force till the Assembly Session is over.
