CONSULTATION WORKSHOP ON “PROMOTING CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES IN GOA”

Panaji: August 21, 2016Directorate of Art and Culture, Goa in collaboration with UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), New Delhi and the International Centre, Goa has organized a two day workshop on “Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries in Goa” on the August 20 and 21,  2016  at the Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji-Goa

While keeping the UNESCO 2005 convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of cultural expressions, the Workshop aims at encouraging the introduction of cultural policies and measure that nurture creativity, optimizing the contribution of the cultural industries to economic and social development and integrating culture into sustainable development of the society.

The workshop also intends to identify issues and areas of cultural and other aspects in Goa, and to generate voluntary working groups to take it forward.

The two days workshop was inaugurated on August 20, 2016 at the hands of Shri Daulat Hawaldar, Secretary Art and Culture, in the presence of Shri Yatin G. Kakodakar, President, International Centre Goa. Ms. Moe Chiba, Section Chief and Programme Specialist for Culture UNESCO, New Delhi and Shri Prasad Lolayekar, Director of Art and culture.

 A Presentation was made by Shri Yudhishthri Raj Isar during inaugural function on Introduction to UNESCO 2005 Convention and its global monitoring report.

The two day workshop will include discussions by various panelist and participate who will highlight on the cultural aspects of the State.

PHOTOGRAPHS TELL MORE THAN WORDS: CM

Panaji: August 20, 2016 … Chief Minister, Shri Laxmikant Parsekar said that Photographs tell more than words and is an effective medium of communication in print media.  Photos disseminate the required meaning without saying a word and weightage to news article.

 Shri Parsekar was speaking at World Photography Day and prize distribution function organised by Photo Journalist’s Association Goa (PJAG) in collaboration with Departmetn of Information and Publicity in the city recently.

 Speaking further Shri Parsekar said, Media is the fourth pillar of Democracy and photo-journalists who are part of it play important role to bring the news in pictures to the readers.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Sidharth Kuncalienkar, MLA, and EDC Chairman said that Photographs is a powerful medium of conveying message. He said newspaper is not complete without Photographs.

Director, Information and Publicity Shri Jayant Tari, assured that the Department will always work for the welfare of the Journalist and the benefits of various schemes for the betterment of Journalist would be passed effectively to the beneficiaries.

Chief Minister Shri Parsekar also inaugurated Photo Exhibition on the occasion.

Minister for Tourism Shri Dilip Parulekar was also present on the occasion.

Shri Aatish Naik, President Photo Journalist’s Association Goa welcomed the guests. Shri Ganesh Shetkar compered the function.

PROCESS OF NOMINATIONS FOR COOPERATIVE AWARDS BEGIN

Panaji: August 19, 2016 … The process of inviting  nominations for the Goa State Cooperative Awards and Assistance for the year 2014-2015 has  commenced from July 15, 2016 and the last date of submission of the nominations was August 16, 2016.

However, very few nominations were received within the stipulated time and hence, the Goa State Cooperative Awards and Assistance selection committee has decided to extend the date till August 29, 2016 for submitting the applications. All the individuals associated with the cooperative movement and the Cooperative societies desiring to apply for the awards may take note of the same.

“SADBHAVANA DIWAS” TO BE CELEBRATED ON AUGUST 19

Panaji: August 18, 2016 … Birth Anniversary of late Shri. Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India is observed as “Sadbhavana Diwas” nation-wide every year, on August 20,  to promote the national integration and the communal harmony amongst people of all religions, languages and regions.

This year, the August 20, 2016, falls on Saturday which is a closed holiday for State Government Offices. Therefore, this year, the  Sadbhavana Diwas will be observed on Friday  August 19, 2016.

The Chief Minister of Goa, will garland the portrait of late Shri. Rajiv Gandhi and will administer the “Sadbhavana Pledge” at 11.00 a.m, in the Secretariat complex at Porvorim, Goa.

All the Secretaries, Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, Under Secretaries to Government and staff of Secretariat including those housed outside Secretariat are requested to be present in the open space inside the Secretariat Complex, Porvorim at 10.50 a.m. to take the pledge.

DY.CM INAUGURATES INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2016

Panaji : August 17, 2016….  The Deputy Chief  Minister Shri Francis  D’Souza has said that the Goan youth have enough potential of talent  and can become international achievers. The Goan youth he said  should  strive to face competition and can prove as the best human resource in the country.

            Shri D’Souza was speaking as the Chief Guest at the International Youth Day 2016 organized by Goa State AIDS control Society in collaboration with NSS cell of Goa University at Taleigao on tuesday.

The theme of the celebration was ‘The Road to 2030, Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production’.

            Shri D’ Souza further said that youth are cream of society  and future and torch bearers who should have their vision to  look towards the problems of poverty, HIV AID which exist in our  society.  In Goa, he said we are not exposed to poverty like is the situation in the rest of the country.

 Shri D;Souza further also said that generally it is taken that youths are vulnerable to the vices  like  drugs, sex .Therefore  Youth have to prove this notion false by their positive attitude and constructive approach towards life and society.

             The Registrar of Goa University Prof. Y.V. Reddy in his address said that International Youth Day is an occasion to sensitize youth about their responsibilities towards their life and society and enable them to contribute in nation building .

FDA SUSPENDS LICENSE OF A HOSPITAL BASED DRUG STORE

Panaji : August 17, 2016 …. The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration, Goa has suspended the Drug Retail Sale Licences of M/s. UGH Vintage Medical Store Pvt. Ltd., Chemist and Druggist at Caculo Enclave, St. Inez, Panaji for various violations committed on their part of conducting the sale of dispensing of drugs in the absence without the supervision of the Registered Pharmacist; non-maintenance of Purchase and Sales records, selling of drugs without the prescription of the Registered Medical Practitioners etc. which are in violation of the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules thereunder.

          This medical store had been given warnings in the past including an opportunity to improve the functioning of their drug business operation in an ethical manner, but they failed to demonstrate any significant visible improvement in their overall operation and management of the business in dealing with drugs in a responsible manner and in compliance to the provisions of the law in force.

          The above medical store drug licences has been suspended for a period of 10 (Ten) Days from August 22 to 31, 2016 both days inclusive.

Panaji: August 16, 2016 … Press Council of India, New Delhi has invited entries for National Awards for excellence in Journalism for honouring Journalists, Photographers, Freelancers excelling in Print Journalism in various field on completion of Councils 50 years of establishment.

The awards will be presented on National Press Day i.e. November 16, 2016 coinciding with Golden Jubilee commemoration of Press Council of India at New Delhi.

DATA CENTRE SET UP TO START FUNCTIONING SOON: FURTADO, ALL PANCHAYATS WILL BE BROUGHT UNDER E-GOVERNANCE

Panaji:  August 16, 2016 …. Minister for Fisheries, ShriAvertano Furtado has said that data centreset up at a cost of Rs. 3.00 crore will start functioning within 3 months wherein various certificates by Mamlatdars will be made available online.

All Panchayats will also be brought under e-governance within the next two months thereby providing birth, death, N.O.C.s, form I & XIV, payment of taxes and other dues online. This he asserted is done as the government’s commitment to provide excellent service to all.

Speaking after unfurling the Tricolour at Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao, on monday, Shri Furtado said central government has already sanctioned Rs. 200 crores while another Rs. 350crores are expected for development of tourism in the State, as Goa has become one of the best tourist destinations in the world.

 Welcoming the One Nation One Tax Reform through the single biggest tax reform – GST -Shri Furtado assured to implement the same at the earliest by rectifying the Constitutional amendment bill by the State.

 Recalling the sacrifices of the great leaders to attain freedom for the nation, the Fisheries Minister informed that construction of an ultra-modern wholesale fish market at Margao besides Rope Way project connecting Panaji to Reis Magos at a cost of Rs. 190 crores on PPP model is in the offing.

 Appealing to the people to shoulder responsibilities to take the State and the nation to great heights as responsible citizens, Shri Furtado reiterated the government’s commitments to provide better health facilities to its populace.  The DeelDayal Swasthaya Seva Yojana providing mediclaim facilities will be launched today.  The Government intends to cover the entire State.  Attempt is made to enroll the left out people by going to the doorstep by way of setting up camps in all talukas, he remarked.

 Government will implement the 7th Pay Commission to its employees.  The November salary will be paid as per the recommendation pointed out Shri Furtado and added that due budgetary provision has been made.

 On arrival, Shri Furtado was received by Collector (South), Shri L.S. Roncon Pereira.

 The Fisheries Minister also inspected the Guard of Honour by the Police personnel.  Students from various schools sang National integration songs.

CM ATTENDS STATE LEVEL CELEBRATION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

Panaji,  August 15, 2016 …. Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar led the State in saluting the National Tri-colour during the State level function of the 70th Independence day at the Old Secretariat in Panjim today. He later reviewed the Guard of honour presented by the contingents of Goa and Maharashtra Police.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Parsekar said that the efforts of the Government would be to generate employment opportunities in a big way in the state. The Government he said has set up Goa Investment Promotion & Facilitation Board which would help generate employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister said that the state has made a notable progress in all spheres despite having missed the three five year plans initially.

The Chief Minister said that the Government has done all that can be done to restart mining in the state and help those affected. His government even gave pay packages to truck owners and all those affected due to mining to help stabilize their lives.

The Chief Minister said that several schemes have been initiated by the Government of Goa for encouraging women empowerment such as Ladli Laxmi, Mamata, Ghara adhar, scholarship, educational loans and others. The state has done a spectacular work in the field of education. It is a proud feeling that the State ranks amongst the three top most states in highest literacy. Speaking about the flagship scheme Deendayal swast seva Yojana health Scheme, the Chief Minister said the Government has extended it for a period of 15 days and now it will be functional from September 1, 2016.

On arrival at the venue, the Chief minister was received by the Chief Secretary Shri Srivastava and DGP Dr. Muktesh Chander and was escorted to the saluting dais.

Dr. Dayanand  Rao compered the function.
