CAMP FOR THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED HELD AT PORVORIM

Panaji, October 15, 2016 …. The Office of the Electoral Registration Officer 09 Porvorim Assembly Constituency under the guidance of District Election Officer organized a special camp for the differently abled at 10 am at Sanjay Center for Special Education, Porvorim, on October 13, 2016.

The programme was graced by Shri Angelo Fernandes,  Collector North Goa, Shri Kapil Phadte, Electoral Registration Officer for Porvorim Constituency,  Mrs. U. Joshi, Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Shri Taha Haaziq,  Member Secretary for Sanjay Center for Special Education and Smt. Varsha Parab, Mamlatdar in Collectorate
.
The Collector Shri Fernandes highlighted the Election Commission of
India’s effort to reach out to all sections of society. He also
emphasised the need to vote ethically and to choose good leaders.
The Principal of the Sanjay Center for Special Education later
proposed the vote of thanks.

CENTRAL SECTOR SCHEME ON BLUE REVOLUTION

Panaji: October 14, 2016 …. Centrally sponsored Scheme implemented by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Government of India including NFDB Schemes have been restructured and merged and have been accorded approval under Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries.

The restructured schemes provides focused development and management of Fisheries, covering Inland Fisheries, Aquaculture, Marine Fisheries including deep Sea Fishing, Mari- culture and all activities undertaken by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB). Under Blue revolution Rs 9 crore has been allocated for the year 2016-17 for the State of Goa in Fisheries Sector. Accordingly Directorate of Fisheries has prepared the State Action Plan 2016- 17.

Blue revolution with its multi – dimensional activities, focuses mainly on increasing Fisheries production and activity from aquaculture and fisheries resources both Inland and Marine.

The objective under Blue Revolution are to increase the overall fish production in a responsible and sustainable manner for economic prosperity, to modernize the fisheries with special focus on new technology, to ensure food and nutritional security, to generate employment and export earnings and to ensure inclusive development and empower Fishers and Aquaculture farmers.

The schemes under Blue revolution includes financial assistance to traditional/ artisanal fishermen for procurement of FRP boats upto 10 m OAL as replacement for traditional/ wooden boats including net, inland Craft and Gear ( unit boats of appropriate size including fishing nets, fish and ice holding boxes etc; Motorization of Traditional Craft; safety of Fishermen at sea; cold rooms; ice pant; insulated truck; auto rickshaw with ice box; motorcycle with ice box; rejuvenation of Urban/ Semi Urban/ Rural lakes/ tanks for fish culture and \renovation of existing pond/ Tank (renovation and construction of farm) (Brackish water)

GOV. HOLDS MEETING WITH WOMEN MUSLIM COMMUNITY

Panaji : October l 4, 2016 …. In her initiative to ascertain and understand the actual role played by the Uniform Civil Code prevailing in Goa in the life and welfare of women, the Hon’ble Governor, Dr. (Smt.) Mridula Sinha, held another meeting today at Raj Bhavan with a delegation of 26 women from the Muslim community.

Earlier, she had a meeting with Christian women on September 25. The State Registrar-cum-Head of Notary Services was also present in the meeting. The Hon’ble Governor inquired with them the position of registration of marriages in the State.

It was clarified by them that they did not find any hurdles or problems in this regard, because Goa follows the Uniform Civil Code. It was also informed by them that the Muslim couples, like the Hindu couples, are required to visit the Registrar’s office twice for signing the documents, as provided by the law.

On inquiry by the Hon’ble Governor, it was informed that triple talaq system is not practiced in the State of Goa. The Hon’ble Governor was also informed that the Muslim women are enjoying equal rights in terms of education, property matters, etc., as per the Code.

 The Hon’ble Governor also sought to know the work being done by them in regard to Swatch Bharat Abhiyan. She was glad to hear that groups of Muslim women have undertaken cleanliness activities at different places.

 The Hon’ble Governor told the delegation that she would be holding separate meetings with Hindu women, Sikh women and tribal women, and thereafter, a combined meeting of all these groups.

PHOTO EXHIBITION ‘GOA TOWARDS DEVELOPMENT’ EVOKES GOOD RESPONSE

Panaji, October 13, 2016 …. The photo exhibition ‘Goa Towards Development’ which got underway at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, has been an important source of information to the people as regards to the various welfare schemes being implemented by the Government during the last four and half years.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Laxmikant Parsekar on October 7, 2016 and since then a large number of people, including students particularly drawn from educational institutions in South Goa have visited the exhibition. It is expected that the number of footfalls will increase before the ten days exhibition which concludes on October 16, 2016.

The Department of Information and Publicity which has embarked upon an information campaign to disseminate information about the achievements and propagate welfare schemes of the Government through various means of dissemination has also plans to set up the exhibition ‘Goa Towards Development’ in other talukas of Goa. The exhibition is very unique, interactive and informative, giving insight into the various welfare schemes of the Government besides infrastructural developments initiatives and achievements.

NORTH GOA MP SHRIPAD NAIK LAYS FOUNDATION STONE FOR DEVELOPMENT WORKS IN MAPUSA

Panaji, October 11, 2016 … Member of Parliament, North Goa and Minister of State (Independent charge), Ministry of Ayush, Shri Shripad Naik, laid the foundation stone for classrooms under the MPLAD scheme (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) in the St Anthony High School, Mapusa, and Janata High School, Mapusa on Monday.

The Minister who made his first pit stop at the St Anthony High School in Duler, Mapusa, said, “When I was approached by the school authorities asking for assistance to build the classrooms, I was happy because it gave me the opportunity to help. With the addition of these classrooms, the children will no longer have to sit in cramped ones.” He further said, “We have undertaken several development projects under the MPLAD scheme.

This is the fourth term of mine wherein it is being implemented.”  Shri Sandeep Falari, the Chairperson of the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC),Shri Martin Carrasco, Councillor, MMC, Bro Francis More, Chairperson of St Anthony High School, Duler and Bro Joy, M. P, Headmaster of the school and PWD officials were present on the occasion.

Shri Shripad Naik later laid the foundation stone for classrooms at the Janata High School in Mapusa. Present on the occasion were Shri Jagannath Manerkar, Chairperson of the institution, Shri Ratnakant Chatim, Headmaster of the school, Shri Jagannath Natekar, Manager of the school and teachers.

Shri Shripad Naik also handed over of two ambulances, one for the District Level Hospital, North Goa and the other for the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Calangute, under the MPLAD scheme, at a function at District Level Hospital in Mapusa. Present on the occasion were Dr Geeta Kakodkar, Medical Superintendent, Asilo hospital and Dr J.B. Pinto, Health Officer, PHC, Calangute.  

CM INAUGURATED SHETKARI MELAVA

October 10th 2016 …. Chief Minister Shri Laximikant Parsekar recently inaugurated Shetkari Melava organized by Goa Samarpan Dyan Yojana Parivar in coordination with Department of Agriculture Pernem which was held at Ravalnath Temple Deulwada Harmal Pernem Goa.

The Chief Minister complimented the Goa Samarpan Dyan Yojana Parivar for their work in various social developmenal activities and celebrating every year with unique theme this year as the Farmers year.

The Chief  Minister said the Government is also focusing on development of agriculture by providing farmers with subsidies and various other activities for  promoting  agriculture.

Zonal Agricultural Officer, Pernem Shri Prasad Parab, Assistant Agricultural Officer Smt. Sonya Mote, Assistant Agricultural Officer Smt. Pranita Desai along with their Agriculture Department Technical team were present.

Goa Samarpan Dyan Yojana Parivar member Smt. Surekha Gaonkar Welcomed the gathering and Shri Hemant Ramani explained the objectives behind holding the melava .

CM TO FELICITATE EX-NCC ACHIEVERS ON OCT. 12

Panaji:::October 10, 2016 …. Chief  Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar  will felicitate the former NCC achievers, short listed by the State ex-cadets NCC Association (SENA with the achievers awards 2016  at a special function to be held on October 12, 2016 at 12.00 noon at the Black Box, Kala Academy, Panaji.

 Prominent among the recipients who will be felicitated are Deputy Chief Minister Shri Francis D’Souza, Chief Consultant Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeon at Goa Medical College Dr. Shirish Borkar, Businessman and Hotelier Shri Gaurish Manohar Dhond. A senior 76 year old  ex-NCC cadet Shri  Ravindranath U. Kakode will be felicitated with Life Time Achievement Award for being in NCC for his keen interest in gardening and love for environment.

 Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar will be the Chief Guest while Deputy Chief Minister Shri Francis D’Souza will be the Guest of honour. The Executive Director of The Navhind Times Smt. Palalvi Dempo  will be the special Guest.

The awards have been instituted by The Navhind Times to honour ex-NCC achievers and to motivate them and instil in them a sense of discipline, responsibility and positive attitude in life.

Other achievers selected for the award include Shri Gaurish Shankwalkar (Civil Services), Shri Vikramaditya D’Lima (Manager Stock Exchange), Shri Atmaram Shetgaonkar (Dy. Conseervator of Forest) Shri Vivek Costa Pereira (Associate NCC Officer/Teacher), Shri Rajendradatta Gulabchand Keny( Executive/Industry) and Adv. Sadika Buddadhet (Legal/Social).

 The recipients of the award were selected by a committee headed by Shri John Aguiar and  comprising of Dr. Pramod Yadav and Shri Pramod Naik.

 The association will also impart training to the NCC cadets not only to guide them in joining the defense forces but also to compete in the civil services examinations.

 

AWARENESS PROGRAMME HELD

Panaji: October 9, 2016 …. Shri |Justice C. V. Bhadang, Judge, High Court of Bombay at Goa and Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee inaugurated Awareness Programme on NALSA (Legal Services to the Mentally Ill and Mentally Disabled Persons) Scheme, 2015 organized by the Goa State Legal Services Authority in association with District Legal Services Authority, North Goa (DLSA) at Valpoi recently.

Justice Nutan D. Sardessai, Judge, High Court of Bombay at Goa and other members graced the occasion.

The Awareness Programme was inaugurated by lighting up traditional lamp at the hands of Justice C. V. Bhadang.

Shri B. P. Deshpande, Chairman DLSA, North Goa and Principal District and Sessions Judge, Panaji gave the welcome address.

Shri |Justice C. V. Bhadang, Judge, High Court of Bombay at Goa and Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee, Justice, Nutan D. Sardessai, Judge, High Court of Bombay at Goa, Shri Shiral Monteiro, Director of Prosecution spoke on the occasion.

Prizes were also distributed to the students.
