Indian Panorama at IFFI-2022 to show case Jai Bhim, RRR, The Kashmir Files

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) announced the line-up for the Indian Panorama segment for the year 2022 with Hadinelentu and The Show Must Go On as the opening films in feature film and non-feature segments, respectively.

While the feature film segment consists of 25 movies, including Jai Bhim, Major, Ariyippu, The Kashmir Files and RRR, the non-feature segment boasts of 20 titles such as Taangh, Other Ray: Art of Satyajit Ray, Clinton and Fatima, among others.

The selected films will be showcased at the 53rd IFFI, to be held from November 20 to November 28, 2022, in Goa.

7 Mexican films to be screened in various categories at IFFI 2022

The 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will screen at least seven Mexican films in a variety of categories as part of its celebration of international cinema, the organisers have said in a statement.

Mexico is known for celebrated filmmakers such as Alejandro González Iñárritu, Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón and Carlos Reygadas, who have created world-class films and won countless international accolades.

At IFFI, the Mexican film Red Shoes will be competing with 14 other films in the International Competition segment, the winner of which is awarded the coveted Golden Peacock.

Directed by Karlos Eichelmann Kaisar, Red Shoes is a film about a farmer receiving the news of his daughter’s death and his struggles to bring her body home. The film was in contention for the Audience Award at Venice International Film Festival.

Another Mexican film, Island of Lost Girls, which is helmed by Ann-Marie Schmidt and Brian Schmidt, is also competing for the title of Best Debut Feature Director. The film tells a gripping tale of three sisters who get stranded in a marine cave where they have to battle for survival. Both the Fantasia Festival and the Moscow International Film Festival screened this movie.

The remaining five films of Mexican origin marking their presence at IFFI 53 are BlanquitaSol’s JourneyEamiPinocchio and Huesera.

Conducted every year by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the IFFI aims to celebrate films, the stories they tell and the people behind them. The 53rd edition of the festival is scheduled to take place from November 20 to 28 in Panaji, Goa.

TAG to present Young Achievers Awards on Regina’s Birth Anniversary

Tiatr Academy of Goa, (TAG) celebrates the Birth Anniversary of late Regina Fernandes, the First Lady of the tiatr stage every year on November 16. On this occasion, TAG also presents Young Achievers Award to two young tiatr personalities who have given their valuable contribution to tiatr.

This year the awards are being conferred on Aveena Pereira and  Senon Silvestre De Souza. The awards will be presented at a function November 16, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at the Multipurpose Hall, Directorate of Art & Culture, Patto, Panjim. This will be followed by staging of  a Konkani Musical Show which will be presented by Socorro de St. Cruz.

Senior tiatrist, Smt. Sharon Mazarello will be the Chief Guest and Deputy Director, Directorate of Art and Culture, Patto, Panaji, Shri. Ashok Parab will be the Guest of Honour. Prizes of Kantaram competition organised by Tiatr Academy of Goa  will also be presented on this occasion. All Tiatr lovers are invited to attend the function in large numbers.

Governor visits Bicholim constitution as part of Sampurna Yatra

Recalling the speech of Swami Vivekananda stating that one day India will become Vishwa Guru, Governor of Goa Shri P.S Sreedharan Pillai said that it’s proud to say that we are proceeding towards Making our Bharat Vishwa Guru for the peace and prosperity of the people across the world. During the war between Ukraine and Russia the India was the only Country in world who evacuated its Citizens from both the countries.
He was speaking during interaction programe with Sarpanchas and Panch Members of Panchayats of Advalpal, Mulgaon, Sal, Mencurem-Dumacem, Latambarcem and Bicholim as a part of Sampurna Goa Yatra today at Bicholim.
Speaking further he said that India is a developing country. During the recent pandemic, India was tge only country in the world who maintained its GDP and increased its Development and other activities.
 Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, MLA in his address said that for the first time in Goa the Governor has Started Vamanavriksha Kala Garder at Raj Bhavan apart from undertaking various projects and initiatives like Goushala, providing financial assistance to shelter homes, cancer patients, dialysis patients etc. He also highlighted the various historical places in Bicholim Constituency.
Governor Shri P.S Sreedharan Pillai disbursed financial assistance to 19 dialysis patients and Cancer patients from Bicholim constituency on the occasion.
Governor during his day long tour at Bicholim visited Shree Shantadurga Devasthan, Our Lady of Grace Church and Namazgah Mosque Bicholim and invoked blessings.
Present on the occasion were First Lady Smt. Rita Pillai , Shri. Premendra Shet Mayem MLA, Secretary to Governor, Shri Mihir Vardhan IAS Rtd. and other government officers.
