CM holds meet with Head Of Departments

Panaji, January 04, 2020 …The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant recently held a meeting with the Heads of various Government Departments (HODs), at the Secretariat, today. Present at the interactive meet were Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai, IAS and the Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shri J. Ashok Kumar, IAS. The purpose of the meeting was to resolve issues that were affecting efficiency in the functioning of the administration in various Government Departments.

The Chief Minister said that the Government administration should be accessible to the people and transparent and for that it was important to streamline administration. Dr Sawant said that it was important to monitor the behaviour of Government staff and ensure that they maintain punctuality and discipline.

Dr Sawant asked Government Departments to work on revenue generation, wherever possible. He asked the HODs to prioritise Government projects and avoid delays.

Dr Sawant also sought status on completed Government projects that were lying unused for various reasons. He asked Departments to identify Government owned properties and offices which are lying idle, and which can be used for Government purposes instead of working in premises which are on rent.

Dr Sawant further stressed on the importance of inter-departmental coordination saying that Departments should plan together and communicate with each other so that administrative work goes on smoothly.

Dr Sawant asked Heads of Departments to avail of centrally sponsored schemes, which will benefit the people of Goa.

The Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai, IAS, asked Heads of Departments to exercise financial prudence and avoid unnecessary expenditure. He asked the HODs to take steps to take administration to the masses, ensure transparency and maximum utilisation of assets, and work as a team.

 

GOVERNMENT WILL PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION FOR WELFARE OF HEARING IMPAIRED  – CHIEF MINISTER

Panaji: January 3, 2020 …Chief Minister Shri Pramod Sawant has said Government will pay special attention for the betterment of hearing impaired people in the State

Speaking as Chief Guest after inaugurating a four days International Deaf Summit 2020 being organized by Deaf leader foundation, Deaf Can Foundation, Bhopal, Inspiralive and collaboration with International Human Rights Association (IHRA), Goa State and supported by Government of Goa at a function held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao recently, the Chief Minister informed that the Government is endeavoring to provide adequate facilities to the special school which are available in the State.

The function was attended by the leader of Opposition Shri Digamber Kamat, Working Chairman (Law and Enforcement), IHRA-India Dr.(Adv) G. Gopi Krishna, Patron, International Deaf Summit and Chairman for IHRA, Goa State Shri Navnath Khandeparkar, Senior Manager- Finance and Legal CBM India Trust, Banglore Ms.Rajani Gopalkrishna, Sign language consultant and associate director for bollywood film Smt. Sangeeta Gala, Founder and CEO of India Signing Hands Pvt. Ltd Shri Alok Kejriwal, Founder UK Deaf motivator , RKDA, Londan Shri Dayal Gauranga Das , Founder for Universal Sanatana Dharma, Chennai Shri Ananatadevji and General manager for IPSHEM Training center,ONGC, Betul Shri Sanjay Kumar.

Speaking further Chief Minister complemented for organizing the event of such magnitude in Goa, having participation of deaf persons from India and abroad. Chief Minister also appreciated the efforts put in by organizers for holding other events such as India Deaf expo, the Deaf film festival, and Deaf festival.

The Chief Minister also referred to the demand raised by the organizers which include the pre university and higher education for the special child and hearing impaired people and assured to consider the demand. The Chief Minister also assured to redress the problems of deaf persons organization which deals with matters related to technology and education, the language and speech development, the social and cultural aspects of the deafness, rehabilitation and employment, the human right and community based rehabilitation, empowerment and women.

Earlier the Chief Minister Dr.Pramod Sawant accompanied by Dy. Chief Minister Shri Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlever, leader of opposition Shri Digamber Kamat, Minister of WRD and fisheries Shri Filipe Nery Rodrigues, Chairman of South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) Shri Wilfred D’sa and Fatorda MLA Shri Vijay Sardessai visited wholesale and retail market of SGPDA and acquainted himself about the functioning of the market.

During the course of his visit, the Chief Minister informed that plans are afoot to construct proper wholesale market which will have provision such as fish testing lab, storage facility and parking among other facilities. He also directed the accompanying concern authorities to initiate immediate steps to prevent the sale of fish on road side. He said also people who are connected with fishing activities should sell their fish in retail market.

GOVERNOR ATTENDS FOUNDATION DAY OF NIO

Panaji : January 2, 2020 … Ocean has always remained a source of world’s best resources, thus more scientific investigations are required in the field of Oceanography so as to enrich our resources resulting into better development of the Nation stated Governor of Goa Shri. Satya Pal Malik. He was speaking at a function organised by National Institute of Oceanography on the occasion of its foundation day held at NIO, auditorium Dona Paula yesterday.

Governor Shri. Malik further said that Ocean is very much related to our cultural traditions. We have our cultural ties with the ocean and its science. Institutions which involved in exploring the various resources of Ocean are very much important. There is immense scope for scientific research in the field of oceanic life and explore its wealth there by helping mankind to improve its lifestyle, he said.

The Governor further stressed upon the need for implementation of various investigations and innovations carried in the field of Marine Science and Agriculture on the ground level so that  common people can derive utmost benefit of it.

Governor Shri. Malik further lauded the efforts and initiatives undertaken by NIO in the field of Oceanography attributing towards various developments of marine activities.

LAST DATE EXTENDED FOR ONE ACT PLAY COMPETITION

Panaji: January 1, 2020 …. The last date to accept the entries for the One Act Play Competition at High School Level organised by Kala Academy has been extended till  January 2, 2020  by 4.00 p.m.

The participating institutions will have to pay Rs. 100/- for each play as an entry fee. The interested high schools may submit their entries within the above extended date and time by submitting their  duly filled in entries in the prescribed format along with cash remittance of prescribed amount of entry fees at the cash counter of Kala Academy.

The entry fee will be accepted  only in cash, Cheques and  Demand Draft or any other mode of payment will not be accepted as entry fee. The participating institution will have to perform on the dates and timing allotted by Kala Academy.

CHIEF MINISTER REVIEWS WORK OF NH-17 FROM PATRADEVI TO VERNA

Panaji December 31, 2019 …Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant today held a meeting with the officials of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH)and Public Works Department, Contractors and reviewed the ongoing work of National Highway -17 from Patradevi to Verna.

The Meeting held at the Official residence of the Chief Minister at Altinho Panaji was also attended by Minister for PWD Shri. Deepak Pauskar , Minister for Tourism Shri. Manohar Ajgaonkar and Principal Chief Engineer PWD, Shri. U. P. Parsekar.

During the course of the meeting the Chief Minister directed the concerned officials and contractors to expedite the ongoing work of NH-17 from Patradevi to Verna including the work of new bridge across Zuari river so as to complete the same by December, 2020 and throw it open for vehicular traffic.

The Chief Minister also directed the Officials to ensure that the issues pertaining to land acquisition for the aforesaid works are redressed by end of January, 2020 so as to pave the way for construction of  NH-17 expeditiously.

As informed by the officials attached to MORTH the stretch from Patradevi to Verna comprises three packages which includes from Patradevi to Karaswada, Karaswada to Bambolim and from Bambolim to Verna.

CHIEF MINISTER EXTENDS NEW YEAR GREETINGS

The Chief Minister in his message has said that people from across the world celebrate New Year with greater joy and happiness. It brings new hopes and new vision in the life of people. New Year comes with new opportunities for everyone to achieve desired goals and learn from the past years. “On this occasion I urge everyone to rededicate themselves and put in renewed and determined efforts to achieve socio economic development and take Goa ahead in all areas of human endeavors.”

“May this New Year brings happiness, peace, prosperity and usher in progress and development in the State,” he concluded.

AGDBYA unveiled team jerseys for Daivadnya Cricket tournament 2020

Margao, Goa, 30/12/19: Akhila Gomantakiya Daivadnya Brahmin Youth Association, Margao (AGDBYA) recently unveiled team jerseys for Daivadnya Cricket Tournament 2020 at Hotel Cosmique, Margao.

AGDBYA along with its main sponsors for this mega event ie Sanvi Jewels, Margao, Anta Jewellers, Margao, Swaroop Jewellers, Margao and Mr. Aman Lotlikar, Youth Leader, Thivim are conducting Daivadnya Cricket Tournament 2020 on 4th and 5th January 2020 for the fourth consecutive year at Arlem Grounds, Raia, Salcete.

Last year, after a huge success of Daivadnya Cricket Tournament 2019, AGDBYA had decided to do team jersey launch for the 1st time for 2020 tournament. This event had seen participation of Daivadnya Cricket players from all around Goa. It had also included 1 ladies exhibition match between North and South Goa team. Over 1000 spectators had witnessed the event and it also had 35000+ viewership on Youtube.

CHIEF MINISTER LAUNCHES E-CHALLAN SYSTEM

Panaji: December 28, 2019….Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant launched e- challan system at a function organized at Police Head Quarter, Panaji yesterday.

Speaking  on the occasion the Chief Minister appreciated the efforts put in by the Police Department for its initiative to start e-challan system and also praised  Axis Bank by providing 400 e –machines which will be used to issue challans to the offenders of traffic rules.

Speaking further the chief Minister said that mind set of politicians has to be like the Sarpanch of Candolim Village Panchayat Shri Blazio Fernandes who is thinking positive and in the interest of state.  He said people who are agitating in the state should also see that law and order is maintained.  Those who are agitating in the state should not create any problem to the tourists and further warned that government will initiate stern action against those who indulge in disturbing peace.

          Minister for Ports, Shri Michael Lobo lauded the efforts taken by Village Panchayat Candolim to hand over the Scorpio jeep to Calangute Police station. He said many tourist are visiting Calangute and Candolim areas and proper infrastructure coupled with  facilities are required to take prompt action against those  indulge in anti social activities .  He said people should appreciate the good work of police. Minister thanked Shri Dinesh Chhutani for donating Scorpio Jeep to the Calangute Police Station through Village Panchayat Candolim.

                   On the occasion the Chief Minister handed over the key of Scorpio jeep to the Inspector General of Police Shri Jaspal Singh.  Cheque amounting to Rs. 30 lakhs  issued by Axis Bank was also handed over by Chief Minister to   Police constable who has become handicapped due to road accident. Father of the police constable received the cheque.

          Inspector General of Police Shri Jaspal Singh, welcomed the guests.

          Chief Secretary Shri Parimal Rai IAS, Sarpanchas of village Panchyat Candolim, and Calangute besides officers of Axis Bank were present.

GOVERNMENT SIGNS MOU WITH DEMPO VISHWA  GRAM SHALA

Panaji: December 27,2019 ::: The Government through the Department of Education signed a MOU with Dempo Vishwa Gram Shala, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant  at a function held at Porvorim today. As per the  MOU the Dempo Vishwa Gram Shala will  run one Government  high school  and three Government Primary schools  from Sankhalim constituency

The Chief Minister speaking on the occasion said that the Government under an initiative has started imparting training to teaching faculty in the state.  Teachers have to update, refresh, improve themselves in regards to  knowledge and should strive to come out of the box and equip themselves with innovative knowledge. Teacher, he said need to work to change the mindset of the students to cherish  vision so as to enable them to become scientists,professionals, academicians. etc.  To fulfil this objective he said teachers should put more efforts to acquire overall educational development of the children. Teacher becomes responsible for the educational success and failure of the student he opined.

The Chief Minister also said that the Goan student should not only rely on Government jobs. but strive to develop themselves  as well knowledgeable person and  he would be happy to know that  the  Goan students from rural areas aims  to  work  in countries like Germany  Australia  and USA.

The Patron of Dempo Vishwa Gram Shala Shri Sriniwas Dempo in his address said that the objective behind taking over Government Schools is to assist Government to improve the standard of education and extend access of quality education to the children from  rural schools. The students from rural areas are hard working and need access to opportunity he opined. He also appealed to the parents to prepare their children to face challenges of the world, and at the same time advised the students not to confined themselves to  academic knowledge.  We have to introduce new concepts and to improve quality of education the teachers would provided proper training he added.
