The examination in each subject commences at 10.00 a.m. and all the candidates are advised to be present at their respective centre of Examination 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination.          During this period there is a possibility that the Self Help Groups/NGOs could be made conduits by Political Parties/Candidates for distribution of money/materials in cash or kind thereby indulging in large scale malpractices which is a punishable offence under IPC and R.P. Act. Therefore, it is strictly urged upon all the members of Self Help Groups under District Rural Development Agency, North and South Goa, not to get influenced in acts of receiving any illegal gratification through any mode prior to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct till the completion to the entire Election process to have a free and fair Election.

In case of any violations of the above instructions by any of the SHGs action deemed fit will be initiated under the relevant provisions of Representation of People Act 1951 and Indian Penal Code respectively against the erring SHGs. In addition to this all the benefits to the SHGs under National Rural Livelihoods Mission Scheme will also be suspended for a further period to be decided by the appropriate authorities.

Panaji: Dated: January 6, 2017 …  The  District Magistrate North Goa in a order issued constituted  a committee to screen the cases of  arm license holders who have not deposited their weapons in the police  custody by due date and to examine all the requests of arm license holders for exempting them from deposing their weapons with the police.             Earlier to this District Magistrate prohibited the carrying of all types of arms, fire arms, ammunition lethal weapons, in any  public place, street, road squares, through  fare, by lanes or in any open place in entire North Goa District. Till the election process is over. And all the arms license holders in the North  Goa District were directed to deposit their fire  arms at the nearest police stations of their  respective jurisdiction and in no case after January 6, 2017.

Panaji : January  31, 2017 … The Directorate of Social Welfare has stated that on the visit of  Election Commissioner of India  to Goa, it was alleged by some political organizations that during ongoing election campaigning lure/threat regarding addition/deletion of names as beneficiaries in certain welfare schemes of the Department of Social Welfare is being suggested.

 It is informed that, the ongoing schemes implemented by the Directorate of Social Welfare are in force, and no scheme as well as benefit of the Schemes, including Dayanand Social Security Scheme, will be denied to any of the existing beneficiaries, unless the grounds and procedure as laid down under the scheme is meticulously followed. All new application forms under different schemes will also be accepted in the office of the Directorate of Social Welfare during normal office hours. However, no new cases will be sanctioned since the Model Mode of Conduct is in force due to ensuing General Assembly Election, 2017. All the eligible applications will be sanctioned only after lifting of the Model Code of Conduct and strictly as per the procedure/rules in force.

 The Directorate of Social Welfare has therefore appealed General Public not to lend ears to rumor mongers and not to get influence by any lure or threat by any private persons or political organizations regarding addition or deletion of their names from any of the welfare schemes of this Department.

The Commissioner of commercial taxes in a order issued stated that under sub-rule (1) of Rule 23 of the Goa Value Added Tax, Rules, 2005, the last date for filing of quarterly returns for the quarter ending December 31, 2016, “as a special case” has been extended upto February 17, 2017. Accordingly, all the assesses registered under the Goa Value Added Tax Act, 2005 (Goa Act 9 of 2005) either as regular dealer or as composition dealer are required to file their quarterly returns for the quarter ending December 31, 2016 on before February 17, 2017, failure to file returns within the extended time shall attract penalties as provided in section 55 of the said Act.
