ADMISSIONS OPEN FOR DIPLOMA COURSES AT GMC

Panaji : March 6, 2017 … Applications are invited from eligible candidates who have obtained their Permanent Registration with Medical Council of India / State Medical Council and have appeared for NEET – PG for admissions to 50% State Quota Post Graduate Degree / Diploma seats of Goa University at Goa Medical College for the academic year 2017-18. There are 11 newly permitted PG Degree seats out of which 3% are allocated to PH Candidate.

NOMINATIONS INVITED BY SPORTS DEPARTMENT

The Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs has invited nominations for the “Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award” in order to recognize the achievement of persons associated in the field of Adventure. A life Time Achievement Award in the Field of Adventure will be also conferred this year.

          Person having exceptional achievements may apply along with their Bio-Data and Brief Write-up in the prescribed proforma, Certifing the achievements recorded by them during the last three years upto December 31, 2016. Disable persons who have outstanding achievements in adventure activities may forward their applications.

          Complete application should reach the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Campal before March 21, 2017 by 5.00 p.m. Applications received after the stipulated date will be  rejected.

PERSONAL HYGIENE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION & NUTRITION WORKSHOP

Panaji:March 05, 2017 …. As part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakkwada by Community Food & Nutrition Extension Unit-Goa, Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India organized a one day workshop on Personal Hygiene and Environmental Sanitation & Nutrition at conference hall Directorate of Health Services Campal Panaji today.

       The Swachhata  Pakkwada which was commenced on March 1, 2017 and which will conclude on, March 15,2017.

Dr. Sanjeev Dalvi, Director of Health, Sevices, Dr.Jose D’Sa, Deputy Director of Directorate of Health Services, Smt.Sangeeta Rane, Demonstration Officer of Ministry of  Women & Child Development, Government of India and others were present on the occasion.

Dr. Dalvi, in his address said that cleanliness is something which every family and community has a right to know, which need to be maintained through practice and awareness, so that people can appreciate it.

Dr. D’Sa, said that instead of waiting for others to change their attitude towards cleanliness we need to set an example for others to take up cleanliness which required to be practiced regularly. He said to achieve our goal of cleanliness, individual dedication  is of utmost importance.

          Smt.Sunita Perni, Medical Officer and Smt.Varsha Naik, Assistant Professor Goa College of Homes Science delivered lectures on Personal Hygiene and Environmental Sanitation & Nutrition.

Owners/Masters of the barges, passengers, launches, ferry boats, tindels of fishing trawlers and operators of the mechanized and non – mechanized crafts, including the tourist boats, cruise boats, etc. plying in river Mandovi in the said area are hereby cautioned to keep a sharp lookout, go slow and if necessary stop at safe distance so as not to cause any hindrance during the above period and strictly adhere to ‘on the spot instructions’ issued by the patrolling boats stationed at the site. Violations of the above shall be viewed seriously.

CHIEF SECRETARY ATTENDS KONKANI BHASHA MANDAL’S ‘PETUL 2017’

Panaji: March 3, 2017 …. Chief Secretary Shri. Dharmendra Sharma attended ‘Petul 2017’ a special programme for children organised by Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem on Wednesday. Present on the occasion were Fr. Walter Miranda, Principle, Guardian Angel Higher Secondary School, Shri. Chirag Nayak, Shri. Raju Nayak, Shri. Milind Paranjape, Shri. Shashi Shetye, Shri. Chetan Acharya, President, Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa, Shri. Juze Lawrence, vice president and others.

On the occasion CD containing of children songs ‘Shani Masti 4’, story books translated in Konkani of Jyotsna Prakashan, story books of Goan writers, charts for children, translated e-books of Pratham Prakashan and books of Nanu book series were released. Schools students performed various cultural programmes on the occasion. Shri. Chetan Acharya welcomed the gathering.

PAINTING COMPETITION RESULTS DECLARED

Panaji, March 3rd, 2017 …. A District Level Painting  Competition for student of VIIIth to Xth  standards  was organized by the Directorate of Museums, North Goa.

          Mast. Pratik U. Chari from  Shiksha Sadan High School, Priol begged the 1st place. Miss Sammrudhi Kerkar, G.S. Amonkar Vidya Mandir, Mapusa begged the 2nd place and Miss Pearl Rodrigues, St. Micheal Convent High School, Vagator begged the 3rd place.

AGRICULTURAL PROSPECTS FOR THE LAST MONTH OF FEBRUARY

Panaji, March 2, 2017 … According  to information given by Directorate  of Agriculture, transplanting  of Rabi paddy crop has been completed throughout the State and no major outbreak of pests/diseases have been reported or observed during the pest surveillance inspection. The flowering in cashew and mango is completed and fruiting season has been started and a good  crop is expected.

          10900 Nos of Bracon Adults (Bio-Control Agents) were produced at the State Bio-Control Laboratory Ela, Old Goa and 5900 Nos were released in the field. 1048 Nos. of Soil Samples were analyzed at Soil Testing Laboratories at Ela Old and Margao. 45 kgs Mushroom spawn was produced and sold at Mushroom Laboratory, Ela Old Goa.

AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON CHILD RIGHTS

Panaji, March 1st, 2017 ….  The Goa State Legal Services Authority in association with District Legal Services Authority, North Goa organized  an awareness programme on  February 23, 2017 at State bank Learning Centre, Patto, Panaji Goa on NALSA (Child  Friendly Legal Services to Children and their Protection) Scheme. The programme was inaugurated  by Shri Justice Avinash  Lavande, (Retd.) Judge, High Court of Bombay at Goa in the presence of Shri Saresh D. Lotlikar, Ld. Advocate General for the State of Goa, Senior Advocate M.S. Usgaonkar, Distinguished members of the Bar and others. Shri Justice Avinash P. Lavande, (Retd.) Judge, high Court of Bombay at Goa said that  the success of enacting the laws protecting child rights, either by Central or State  Government depends upon execution. Because  everywhere  you find problem of  execution of the legislation. He also stated that counseling of the children and parents has to be encouraged. He also stated  that for that to happen all the stake holders have to co-operate.

Shri Saresh D. Lotlikar while addressing the gathering discussed about child abuse and spoke of the responsibility and role of the lawyers, judges in dealing with the issue. He said that we must educate the parents of the children about their rights.

                    The sessions  earlier started with the skit on child abuse which was performed by the members of  Child Help Line.  Thereafter in the second session, Smt. Shabnam Shaikh, Secretary, of District Legal Service Authority  made Power Point presentation on the Scheme of the NALSA (Child Friendly Legal services to Children and their Protection) Scheme, 2015.

          Sujana De Souza, Co-ordinator of Child Help Line spoke on  Child Abuse. She informed that the child helpline No. is 1098. She explained  What Constituted Child Abuse and said that  Child abuse or maltreatment constitutes all  forms of physical and /or emotional ill-treatment.

          Snehal Salgaonkar, member of Childrens Right  in Goa spoke on the rights of the girl child and discussed various cases pertaining to molestation,  rape etc.

AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON CHILD FRIENDLY LEGAL SERVICES HELD

Panaji: February 28,2017 …. The Justice of High Court of Bombay at Goa Justice A.P Lawande has said that that it is the duty of the society to safeguard the rights of child and  provide protection for their healthy growth so as to become good citizen.The constitution of our country envisage various  provisions for the purpose which we have to consider to safeguard the interest of the child.

This was stated by Shri Justice Lawande who delivered  inaugural address at awareness programme  on NALSA ( child friendly legal services to children and their protection.scheme2015, organized by Goa State  Legal Services Authority in association with District Legal Services Authority, North    Goa  at Patto in the city today.

Justice Lawande further speaking said that it is the constitutional right of every citizen under article 22 of constitution of India to be defended by a legal practitioner of his choice. In regards to administration of juvenile justice is ensuring legal services at the state expencses. It is the  mandatory duty of Legal Services Authority to make available free legal aid service to every juvenile.

Shri Saresh D. Lotlikar, Ld.Advocate General for the State of Goa also spoke on the occasion.

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS DURING BOARD EXAMS AT CUJIRA COMPLEX

Panaji: February 27, 2017 …. The Goa Traffic Police along with Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education have made special arrangements for parking of vehicles in the parking lot of Bambolim Athletic Stadium as part of the traffic arrangements during SSC and HSSC Board exams to be held in March at the Cujira Educational Complex, Bambolim.

After dropping the wards the vehicles should be parked in the designated/earmarked parking lot. The Dy. Supdt. of Police, Traffic (HQ) has appealed to parents and guardians not to park their vehicles along the approach road of Cujira Educational Complex.

The Goa Traffic Police in their instructions have said that while dropping and collecting the wards unnecessary chaos should not be created at the Main Gate of the Examination Centre and ensure that the smooth movement of vehicular traffic is not disturbed.
