Goan Reporter News: 02 arrested for attempt to murder by Mapusa Police
Mapusa police have arrested 02 accused persons for attempt to murder.
As per SDPO Mapusa a complaint was lodged by Mr. Brijesh Shirodkar R/o Candolim informing that when he and his father Mr. Chandrakant Shirodkar had gone to Mapusa KTC bus stand at 04:00 pm 02 persons parked his scooter ahead of their car and blocked their way. When the 02 persons were questioned they assaulted him and his father

with knife causin multiple injuries on vital parts and further threatened them with dire consequences to kill.
A team was formed during which both accused persons Mr. Sameer Pednekar and Mr. Suresh Kumbhar both R/o Khorlim Bardez Goa were arrested under sections 341, 504, 307, 506(ii) IPC R/w 34 IPC.
Further investigation is in progress with Pi Paresh Naik under supervision of SP Shobit Saxena and SDPO mapusa Jivba Dalvi

FDA holds meet with stakeholders on ‘Save Food, Share Food, Share Joy Initiative’
DFDA held a meeting with representatives from the Restaurant Association, GCCI, Catering Association and Pharma Companies on ‘Save Food, Share Food, Share Joy Initiative’ at its Conference Hall, Bambolim, recently.
Director FDA,  Smt. Jyoti Sardesai introduced the initiative and explained its aim at bringing together all the stakeholders of the community to prevent food waste through supply chain. This initiative aims at creating awareness at source on reducing the volume of surplus food generated, donating extra food to food banks, soup kitchens and shelters through approved food recovery agencies, she informed.
A detailed description about the initiative and also the operational details were given. Stakeholders, namely, Food Recovery Partners, Donors, Beneficiaries, Volunteers were urged to work unitedly for a successful implementation of the initiative in Goa.
The participants gave their feedback and expressed their willingness to contribute to this initiative. The Secretary of the Catering Association informed that they are willing to mobilize the restaurants in Panaji to provide at least 100 meals on daily basis for the noble cause, if a community food collection point (a cold storage facility) is made available for food deposition with the help of CCP Panaji and Smart City.

Persistent efforts can change the society. Few people can bring the desired change in the society but whether we are able to create such people is a question. Religious and spiritual leaders, political leaders and everybody should try for the upliftment of the people asserted Governor, Shri P S Sreedharan Pillai.Theory written by famous philosopher in the world Arnold Toynbee propagates that a society can be changed by not a mass or mob but by a creative minority in a society. Less then 5% population of the people of the country participated in the freedom struggle and got the freedom is the example of it he added.
As a part of “Goa Sampurna Yatra”  Governor of Goa, Shri P S Sreedharan Pillai interacted with Sarpanchas, Panch Members of Village Panchayats of Paroda, Cuncolim, Macasana, Chandor, Cavorim and Guirdolim, Rachol and also distributed financial aid to 9 dialysis and 10 cancer patients from Raj Bhavan Discretionary Fund at Chandor Club, Chandor today.
Further Shri Pillai said, apprehension and fear about the disease makes a patient weak. If the anxiety and apprehension is overrulling once life, then how can the medicine and treatment help. Will power is an important factor. Contagious disease is not a disease but fear is a disease he pointed. 161 types of cancers are curable but one should face it with confidence to overcome it. Support and help to the patient consoling them is a need of hour and Raj Bhavan is doing it in its own way by providing financial aid to cancer and dialysis patient. God has given us a human life and we should help each other, he said.
Shri Pillai said, on the birthday of Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in 2021, I decided to visit all the villages across the State and till now have visited 95% Goa’s Villages and can proudly say that Chandor is a beautiful village in India. History also lies here. People of Chandor are bestowed with blessings from God and tradition. Goa’s Villages taught me so many things. Goas Villages are more beautiful than any other villages in India. People are hardworking and good at heart. After visiting missionaries from all walks of life and all religions and their place of worship I have experienced that cordial relations exists among the people of the State. He said out of the 28 states in India Goa is the only State where article 44 of the Constitution – common civil code for all is implemented.  Zero communal clash in Goa shows the rich mindset of the people, he observed.
MLA, Shri Yuri Alemao said, he is privileged to welcome the Governor in this historic Chandor village which was once the capital of Kadamba Dynasty. He also thanked the Governor for paying respect & homage to the Chieftains of the Cuncolim Revolt. The State tour of the Governor is reflection of his nature to understand various lifestyles and get connected to the people. Governor is a kind hearted person and the first to provide financial assistance for health care of the needy. Goa will always remain indebted to him, he added.
 He said Cuncolim Constituency needs a Community Health Center or an Urban Health Center on top most priority. The village of Chandor needs to be promoted under Heritage Tourism. The local Wood Craft of Chitari’s in Demani needs to be promoted with Government support. The underground power cabling work needs to be undertaken on topmost priority, he informed and requested the Governor to use his authority and issue directions to the government to pay attention to the Cuncolim constituency. I am confident that your visit will be productive & result oriented, he added.

Students of St Francis Xavier High School, Macasana presented National Anthem while students of St Joseph’s Educational Institute , Guirdolim Chandor presented welcome song.
Sarpanch, Chandor, Shri Estefanio Dias welcomed.
He also visited Chieftains Memorial at Cuncolim and paid homage to the martyrs and Menezes Braganza House, Chandor.

God is the ultimate dispenser of justice: Governor

Elected representatives, Government, bureaucracy and Raj Bhavan will work together for the betterment of the people. Society, Administration and Raj Bhavan are with cancer and dialysis patients. God is the ultimate dispenser of justice. Out of 200 types of cancer 161 types are curable and one can overcome this disease. Fear in our mind about cancer disease stops one we learn to face it with confidence said Governor of Goa, Shri P S Sreedharan Pillai at the interaction programme with Sarpanchas, Panch Members of Village Panchayats of Rachol, Camurlim, Curtorim and Raia at Raia Panchayat Hall today.

Further speaking Shri Pillai said he is extremely happy to visit the Raia Village as it has similarities with his own native village in Kerala. Kerala and Goa have similarity and peculiarity in many aspects. Greenery shows our country’s commitment towards nature and agriculture, he added.

Distributing financial aid of Rs. 25,000/- each to 11 dialysis and 7 cancer patients from Raj Bhavan Discretionary Fund, Shri Pillai said Raj Bhavan’s initial target was to provide financial aid to 71 dialysis patients but till now more than 850 patients are provided benefit. Raj Bhavan is provided with Discretionary Fund and last year it was decided not to use this fund for the purpose of Governor or Raj Bhavan but use it to provide assistance to the needy people of the State he said.

Representations presented by all the Panchayats on occasion will be studied, discussed and the genuine issues and grievances will be resolved with maximum efforts and if required, will be placed before the State and Union Government, he informed.

The visits to villages across the State have apprised me of many things. He spoke about Mahatma Gandhijis Grama Swarajya mission which means people are supreme. Government is elected by the people with their mandate while the Governor is a nominated post he said and added that Raj Bhavan will work for the betterment of the people. Constitution is committed to the people of India, especially villages, he remarked.

MLA Shri Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said the Governor is a classic example of his own philosophy – give the best and get the best. He appreciated the initiative of the Governor to provide assistance to the cancer and dialysis patients across the State. Agricultural produce of paddy crop this season is quite a reasonable achievement for the farmers of Curtorim constituency he informed.
