TOURISM MINISTER INAUGURATES TRADE SHOW

Panaji, June 1,  2017 … The Minister for Tourism, Shri. Manohar Ajgaonkar inaugurated the third edition of the Food Hospitality World (FHW) Goa at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor stadium in Taleigao today. Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Ajgaonkar said, “I welcome such trade shows to Goa because it is good for local businesses in Goa be it hotels or restaurants as through such shows one can network and the chance to do business increases greatly.”

Shri. Ajgaonkar added further, “Goa is a gift from God.  It is a heaven blessed with natural beauty and architecture. Those who are working in the sector of hospitality in Goa through such shows will get necessary information that will help them increase the tourist flow to Goa.”  

Chairperson of Hospitality Purchase Managers Forum, Shri. Mohan Deshpande, said, that such shows will help local businesses to procure quality products at best prices in Goa.

Also present was Chef Ranjeet Pandey, the President of Culinary Forum of Goa among others.

The trade show features over 5000 product categories and over 300 international brands. There will also be sessions based on industry topics during the show. Some of the highlights of this edition are the trade show’s live workshops and culinary competitions.

WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY OBSERVED AT MARGAO

panaji: May 31, 2017 … The South Goa District Collector, Shri Swapnil Naik, IAS, flagged off a rally to observe the World No Tobacco Day from the District Collectorate office, Margao, today.  May 31 is observed as the World No Tobacco Day. The theme for this year is “Tobacco – A threat to development”.

 Shri Naik speaking informally highlighting the various ill effects of Tobacco stressed the need to create the required awareness among the people to have the desired results.

 He said “Punitive actions do not help all the time.  We need to convince the people to give up the habits of tobacco.  For this we need to create awareness on this front.”

 He said South Goa District which has worked tirelessly to make it Smoke Free has been putting in lot of efforts to maintain it by initiating actions as per COTPA apart from creating awareness programmes all throughout the year.

The rally was organised by the District Administration in association with Urban Health Centre, Margao, National Tobacco Control Programme, Nehru Yuva Kendra and Goa Can.

Students of various institutions participated in the rally.   Street plays at prominent places were also presented by these students.

PERMISSION TO PLY VESSELS/BARGES VIA AGUADA SAND BAR

Panaji, May 27, 2017 …   The  Captain of Ports has granted permission allowing the vessels/barges to cross the Aguada Sand Bar from May 26, 2017 noon to May 29, 2017 noon only to those that have applied for permission, at their own risk and perils, provided the vessels/barges crossing the Aguada Sand Bar should have at all times valid survey certificate/valid Insurance, and weather permitting.

 The Vessels/Barges crossing the Aguada Sand Bar should carry 2/3rd of its carrying capacity. Vessels/barges holding extension survey certificate are not permitted to cross the Aguada Sand Bar subject to inspection.

 All Owners/Masters/Crews/Fishing Vessels are required to exercise extra caution while navigating through the said areas as the Navigational buoys in the rivers Mandovi and Zuari have been withdrawan. Extra lookout/watchkeeper to be on duty to avoid any mishap. Further, overtaking of vessels/barges from Mandovi Bridges to mouth of Mandovi river is strictly prohibited. Master/Serang of all vessels will adhere to the Rules of Road strictly and notification under reference.

All Inland Vessels/Crafts to keep clear off ferry boats at ferry crossings.

The above permission will be withdrawn without assigning any reasons thereof, without any right of claims whatsoever.

YELLOW AND BLACK AUTO RICKSHAWS STAND NOTIFIED

METER RELAY TESTING BY ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT

Panaji, May 25, 2017 ….  “The MRT (Meter Relay Testing) wing of the Electricity Department is conducting routine inspection of various Electrical Installations in the areas of Baga, Clangute, Sinquerim, Nerul, Verem, etc.

within the jurisdiction of Sub Division IV, Calangute, Bardez-Goa. Cases of misuse of Power supply, increase of connected load, pilferage of Energy has been detected by the team and penal action under the relevant provisions of the Electricity Act 2003 is being initiated against the defaulting consumers.

All the consumers of the said Sub Division referred above and also from other areas under the control of the Department are therefore warned to refrain from carrying out / indulging in such discrepancies. They are further advised to contact the respective Sub Divisional Engineer, for regularization of any misuse/increase of loads etc. to avoid penal action against them at the earliest.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY

 Date:-May 23,2017 …  Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar inaugurated the International Day for Biological Diversity 2017  at Goa Kala Academy in the city today.  The function was organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) India, National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) Chennai, with the cooperation of Government of Goa through its autonomous body Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB).

          Chief Minister while addressing the gathering said that since this year’s theme being the “Biodiversity and sustainable tourism” for the touristic State like Goa, necessary measures needs to be taken to boost the tourism and protect environment in the State. He emphasised the need to work together to conserve biodiversity to ensure the better future for the present and future generation. He urged the concerned authorities to enhance mass awareness about the importance and threats to biodiversity among people.

            The function was followed with the launching of Indian Biodiversity Awards 2018, launching of UNDP-Capacity Building ABS Project, release of 1st issue of NBA’s Newsletter “Biodiversity Matters”, release of communication materials and knowledge products and prize distribution for Photography Competition. The highlights of the exhibition on the theme IDB-2017 is the special feature of this year’s celebration which includes ‘Environment Haat’ by United National Development Program, India, and displays at over 30 stalls put up by local, National & Global stakeholders of Biodiversity, Environment & Tourism.

       A National level seminar will be held on 23rd May 2017 on ‘Biodiversity’, legal framework and related aspects, at the ‘International Centre Goa, Dona Paula.

       Various competitions  were held as part of the IDB-2017, The winners will be felicitated on 23rdMay 2017 at the ‘International Centre Goa, Dona Paula.

        Chief Secretary, Shri Dharmendra Sharma,Smt.Marina Walter, Deputy Country Director, UNDP, Dr.B.Meena Kumari,Chairperson National, Biodiversity Authority and Dr.Amita Prasad, Additional Secretary, MoEFCC Government of Goa were present on the occasion.

         Dr.Ranbir Singh, Principal Secretary, Environment and Forest, Government of Goa Proposed the vote of thanks while Shri.Saeesh Deshpande compered the function.

CHIEF MINISTER TO INAUGURATE MEGA JOB FAIR IN PANAJI

 Panaji, May 22, 2017 …  Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar will inaugurate a Mega Job Fair on June 17, 2017 at Don Bosco Oratory hall, Panaji.

 The event will be organised by Office of the Commissioner Labour & Employment, Regional Employment Exchange, Model Career Centre, Government of Goa in association with Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Goa, National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) – Goa Chapter and Enviro Skills HR Services.

The objective of the fair is to increase employment opportunities for the job seekers and offer a wide range of selection to the recruiters from a large pool of registered jobseekers with diverse skills and educational profiles.

Entry is free for employers and jobseekers. Any employer wishing to participate in the job fair has to ask for employer registration form by sending a mail to empl.pnj@gmail.com. No prior registration is required for jobseekers.

Jobseekers can directly come to the event. They are expected to come professionally dressed and should carry at least 10 copies of their CV.

NOMINATIONS INVITED FOR RAJIV GANDHI SEVA AWARD 2017

Panaji: may 21, 2017 … Nominations are invited by Directorate of Women & Child Development from suitable individuals for ‘Rajiv Gandhi Seva Award 2017’ given for service to children. The award is instituted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India to give recognition to three individuals who make outstanding contribution towards service for children in the field of child development, child protection and child welfare.

Any individual who is not a paid officer with 10 years of experience the concern field will be held eligible based on the quality of work performed by the individual for the cause of children. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 1.00 lakh to each awardee, sliver plaque and a citation.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY – 2017

panaji… May 20th ….  the organizing Committee meeting for International Day for Biological Diversity 2017 was held on May 11, 2017 at Conference Hall, Secretariat Porvorim. The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Shri. Dharmendra Sharma, Member Secretary for  Goa State Biodiversity Board,  Nodal Officer Shri. Pradip Sarmokadam, welcomed and appraised the members about the activities to be held on May 22 and 23, 2017 at Kala Academy, Panaji and International Centre Goa, Dona Paula.

        The head and representatives of various Government of Goa Departments were appraised of their role towards the celebration.

 Every year May 22 is celebrated worldwide as International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) to commemorate the adaption of the Convention on Biological Diversity at the Earth Summit held in Rio da Janerio in June 1992. Celebrating IDB every year reaffirms our resolve and reflects on our responsibility to safeguard the precious heritage of bio resources for future generation.

 

The Ministry for Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and National Biodiversity Authority(NBA) has proposed to host the National level event on International Day for Biological Diversity 2017 with the theme “Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism” on May 22 and 23, 2017 in Goa and the event would be celebrated at “Dinanath Mangeshkar Auditorium,  Kala Academy, Goa and International Centre Goa. This programme is open to all.

 

The Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Shri Anil Madhav Dave is expected to attend the event along with Shri Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa and other National Level dignitaries including Central Secretaries are expected to attend the event.

 

          In order to commemorate the event various State Level Competitions such as Street play competition and elocution completion will be organized.
