NOMINATIONS INVITED FROM SCHEDULED TRIBE PEOPLE TO WITNESS REPUBLIC DAY PARADE AT DELHI

Panaji: August 24, 2017 …. Government of India has invited two Tribal Representatives one male and one female from any of the Schedule Tribe (ST) members from backward Tribal Communities preferably from BPL in the state to witness the Republic Day Parade and Celebration, 2018 at New Delhi.

 Any Goan belonging to ST, not more than sixty years and interested to witness Republic Day Parade 2018 at New Delhi may submit their nomination in the performa given below to the Director, Directorate of Tribal Welfare, Shrama Shakti Bhavan, 5th Floor, Patto, Panaji Goa latest by September 11, 2017.

The Proforma should include :- Name of the Tribal Applicant, Date of Birth/Age, Father’s Name, Mothers Name, Husband’s/Wife’s Name, Full Residential Address, Contact No, Tribes to which he or she belongs(caste certificate to be enclosed), Family Annual Income from all sources.

The selected persons will have has to represent themselves in the Traditional Attires and are required to stay in Delhi from January 22, 2018 to February  2, 2018.

The Expenditure on travel by second class railway from Goa to Delhi and back as well as food accommodation will be borne by State Government.   

SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR MINORITY COMMUNITIES

Panaji: August 23, 2017… government of India has implemented three scholarship schemes i.e Pre-Matric, Post-Mastric, Post Matric and Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Schemes with 100 %Central funding. Under these schemes the scholarship are awarded to the meritorious students from notified minority communities viz. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Jains, pursuing studies in India a Government or Private  Universities/Institutes/colleges/schools.

During 2017-18, the online implementation of the Pre-matric, Pre-Matric, Post-Mastric, Post Matric and Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Schemes will be done through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) of the Government of India, under URL www.scholarships.gov.in. A link to the site is also made available in the website of this Ministry i.e. www.minorityaffairs.gov.in. the detailed guidelines of the three scholarship schemes and the standard operation procedure with the timelines is available on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) Portal.       

BAN OF LIQUOR TRANSPORTATION DURING BYE ELECTION

Panaji: August 22, 2017 …  In view of Bye election Government has directed that no liquor shall be transported from one place to another within the jurisdiction of 11-Panaji and 19-Valpoi Constituencies.

The maximum quality of liquor which can be possessed by any person within the said areas is three quart bottles of Indian made foreign liquor other than beer and six bottles of beer of 650 ml for any person including his family. Three quart bottles of country liquor for any person including his family.

During the period from 5.00 p.m. of August 21, 2017 till intervening midnight of August 23, 2017 and August 24, 2017 in view of polling and from 00.00 hrs of  August 28, 2017 to 0.00 hrs of August 29, 2017 on account of counting of votes within jurisdiction of 11-Panaji and 19-Valpoi Constituencies  for Bye election.

GOVERNOR INAUGURATES CONFERENCE ON TECHNOLOGY

Panaji: August 21, 2017 ….  “Change occurs everywhere but the change that has come about ever since India embarked on the digital mission has been quick and immense,” said Governor, Dr (Smt) Mridula Sinha.  She was speaking at the 22nd edition of Technology Sabha which was inaugurated at a starred resort in Candolim.

The 3-day residential conference will explore new trends and innovations in creating a digital ecosystem for accelerating eGovernance initiatives.

Earlier, Shri J. Satyanarayana, Chairperson, UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) earlier spoke of the three digital aspirations derived from the recent speech of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. “They are the One Nation-One Identity brought about by Aadhaar, the second is the Bharat Jodo and the third is Swaraj to Suraj which is about good governance.”

The Technology Sabha is organized by the Indian Express Group and features leaders who have undertaken some of the best Government to Government, Government to Citizen and Government to Business initiatives taken by various departments.

GFDC RESIDENTIAL ACADEMY BOYS BEAT GOA U-15 SUB JUNIOR TEAM

MAPUSA: 20/08/2017 …. The GFDC Residential Academy boys beat the Goa U-15 Sub Junior team, 2-1 in a friendly match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa recently.

The Goa team which is selected by GFA and will be shortly participating in the Sub Junior National Football Championship 2017-18 (West Zone) houses six boys from the GFDC Academy.  

The GFDC Academy lads began the play on an impressive note as they dictated pace from the middle and soon broke the deadlock through Meavan Dias, 1-0. In the 20th minute Rohan equalized for Goa. The GFDC Academy boys moved the ball from end to end and displayed great composure keeping possession of the ball for long spells. In the 25th minute Vellington Fernandes took the lead for GFDC Academy, 2-1.

The second half became frantic as the teams provided end to end action but it was the GFDC Academy boys who has the last laugh.

GOVERNOR FLAGS OFF BIO GAS, ETHANOL BUSES

Panaji, August 19, 2017 … The transport system using bio gas and ethanol buses would bring comfort to Goa and would help reduce environmental pollution in the state said the Governor, Dr (Smt) Mridula Sinha who flagged off the one bio gas bus and two ethanol buses today at the Old Secretariat in Panaji. Dr (Smt) Mridula Sinha further said that this is a pilot project being undertaken in Goa which can be adopted in the other states in India as well. The bio gas and Ethanol bus service in Goa, which will ply on different routes across Goa, is being introduced by Scania India Pvt. Ltd. in association with the Kadamba Transport Corporation, Goa.

The launch of these services makes Goa the second place in India after Nagpur to introduce Ethanol powered buses on its roads. All three buses launched in Goa run on bio fuels which emit fewer greenhouse gases and cause minimal damage to the environment.

The Managing Director of Kadamba Transport Corporation, Goa, Shri Derick P Neto said that the time has come to preserve the natural beauty that Goa is known for by switching to non-polluting transport solutions.

The Managing Director of Business Unit, Scania Commercial Vehicles India, Shri Mikael Benje said, “India’s commitment to bio fuels is commendable and we are delighted at this opportunity to help Goa make the transition to green fuel.”

HOLY SPIRIT INSTITUTE WIN U-14 SUBROTO TOURNEY

MAPUSA: 18/08/2017 … Holy Spirit Institute, Margao beat Fr Agnel High School, Pilar, 7-5  via tie breaker to emerge state level winners in the Boys U-14 Subroto Cup inter-school football tournament organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA) at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Monday. At half time the score was 1-1.

The defending state champions began the play on an impressive note as they dictated pace from the middle and soon broke the deadlock in the very 3rd minute through Arnold Oliveira, 1-0. Ten minutes later Shreyash Naik scored the equalizer for Fr Agnel. The Holy Spirit team which houses seven GFDC Academy trainees moved the ball from end to end and displayed great composure keeping possession of the ball for long spells.

Crossing over in the 37th minute Nathan Rodrigues gave Holy Spirit the edge once again through an assist off Arnold, 2-1. In the 49th minute Shreyash secured his brace for the day and equalized for the Pilar side. Both the teams were locked at 2-2 at full time and hence tie breaker was applied.

Holy Spirit converted through Nathan, Arnold, Bhuvan Parwar, Anish Gadar and Oscar Braganza. Whereas Sherwin Abranches, Tarak Kandolkar and Atmaram Jadhav converted for Fr Agnel.

NOTICE TO CABLE OPERATORS

Panaji: August 17, 2017 …. The Electricity Department has appealed to the Cable Operators and Advertising Agencies to remove their belongings which is displayed without their permission on the electric poles before September 30, 2017.

The Department will remove the cables and Advertising Boards tied to the poles if the approval for the same is not taken before September 30, 2017; the said date is the last date to regularizes the illegal acts failing which all such Advertising Boards/posters/cables/flags displayed/tied on the existing Departmental electrical poles will be removed by the department without any further notice.    

KATHAK DANCE AT RAVINDRA BHAVAN, VASCO

STATE IS ALL SET TO CELEBRATE I-DAY ON TUESDAY

Panaji: August 15, 2017  … Goa is all set to celebrate Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday amidst various programmes which have been organized to mark the event.

The state level function will be held in front of the Old Secretariat Panaji at 9.15 am where Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar will unfurl the national tri- color and will inspect the guard of  honor and address the people on the occasion . He will present awards to those who have contributed in various fields

The function will be attended by cabinet of Ministers, Deputy Speaker Shri Michael Lobo, Leader of opposition Shri Chandrakant Kavlekar, Member of Parliament, M.L.A‘s,  judges of High court ,  Ld. Advocate General and other dignitaries

To mark the celebration Independence Day functions will also be held at 9.15 am. at taluka level. The Flag hoisting Ceremony in each taluka will be held at the hands of Collector, Additional Collectors, Deputy Collectors and Mamlatdars respectively.

The Director of Sports & Youth Affairs will organize Prabhat Pheries on August 15, 2017 involving children and citizens. It will also organize cycle races and marathon races after the function, where children and citizens can participate.

The Governor of Goa Dr. (Smt.) Mridula Sinha will host a state reception at Raj Bhavan at 5.15 pm. on August 15, 2017.

         After the main function, the dignitaries will proceed to Patradevi where they will lay wreath along with freedom fighters at the Martyr’s Memorial at Patradevi at 11.30 a.m.
