Netherlands and Goa to exchange ties for betterment of Tourism and Sports

Panjim,  February  27: Hon’ble Minister  for Tourism & Sports, Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar  today welcomed suggestions  from  the  Consul General of Netherlands, Mr. Guido Tielman,  for promotion  of  bi-lateral ties between  Netherlands and  Goa  in the areas of  Tourism  and  Sports.

Following a deliberation between Mr. Ajgaonkar and  the visiting  Netherlands Consul General today, Mr. Tielman  said that he was enthralled by  the Goan hospitality extended to him and  will return back with a mission to encourage people from Netherlands to  visit Goa.

He also stated that  he would  explore the possibility of  charter flights from  Netherlands  to  Goa and would  request travel agents from Netherlands  to connect with the Department  of Tourism, Govt. of Goa  on the  modalities for working out this air connect between the  two tourism regions.

On the Sports front, Mr. Tielman said he was  impressed by the achievements of  Goan male footballers and  added that  the game  of football should  be extended  to women players and  that  Netherlands would be  willing to  support budding  Goan  women football players with  training and exhibition matches between the two teams.

While  Mr. Ajgaonkar  emphasized  that  Netherlands should promote Goa widely as a must visit tourism  destination, the visiting Consul General  also appealed to Mr.  Ajgaonkar to support the promotion of  Netherlands to Goans.

During his short visit to Goa, Mr Tielman,  visited a few beaches, temples and tourist spots and enjoyed  the flavor of Goa.   He also impressed on  Mr. Ajgaonkar to visit Netherlands and to explore and  experience  tourism  in Netherlands.

He was presented with souvenirs  of Goa by Mr. Ajgaonkar.

Mr. Agnelo Godinho, Consular Assistant, Goa & Director of Tourism Mr. Menino D’souza were also present during the meeting.

SAFETY OF PEOPLE AND PROPERTY IS MUST -CHIEF SECRETARY

 Date: Feb. 26,2018 … ‘Goa fire force a compact force has very carefully nurtured itself both technically and in terms of  maintaining standards of operating procedures with the need of the time, which is required for the safety of people ,property and state at large” said by the Chief secretary of the State Shri Dharmendra Sharma IAS , who was speaking as  the chief guest for the function of 30th Annual Inspection Day Parade organized by  the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services at their campus at Campal today.

             Shri Sharma said that, as we grow economically and as our economic activities diversifies it is extremely important that the  our capacity to be safe and our capacity to respond to contingencies and incidents which are bound to happen despite of all the precautions should also keep pace .  In that sense a fire force underwrites in a very quite and silent way our carrying capacity to industrialise and our carrying capacity to host and to generate wealth of the stae with then become the wealth of the     nation.

            Shri Sharma further said that the question of growth of tourism , whenever tourists arrives in Goa the competence of the safety health, fire,  police and other services and  quietly and  very strongly  underwrites. Similarly as we invite investors, entrepreneurs to expand their economic activities once again our capacity to deal with all potential contingencies becomes very crucial.

            The Chief Secretary highlighted incident of likeage of ammonia which took place in Chicalim was handled on the time was called for appreciation . He assured to consider pending proposals and to meet requirements of this Department and he also congratulated the winners for their excellence  in sports and other activities.

            Shri Ashok Menon, the Director of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, in his welcome address said that the Department is alert to meet the needs of the citizens in terms prompt and effective response and have rededicated to their motto ‘We Serve to Save, In order to sensitize the masses with regards to their safety he said the department under ‘Fire Safety Education and Awareness Campaign’ have trained 268 Primary School Teachers and 24300 students from all over the State. . On village Panchayat level under ‘Disaster Preparedness & Fire Safety Training’ around 1554 citizens have been trained from various Talukas he informed. He also said that the Government accord top priority to the safety of all citizen and efforts are being made to well  equip with safety equipments  to face the future  challenges  of calamity or the disaster.     

            During the year the department has conducted various sports and other activities. Like annual fire drill competition were  organized. Shri Shripad Gawas SFO, of Bicholim Fire Station, Shri Santosh SFO,of Kundai Fire Station, were the winners of Squad drill competition.Whereas the winners of Ladder drill competition were Shri Shrikrishsna Parrikar, SFO, Fire Fore Head Quarters, Shri Rahul Dessai, SFO, Verna Fire Station, The winners of Pum Drill are Shri ShriKrishna Parrikar SFO, Fire Force Head Quarters. Shri Bosco Ferrao SFO of Mapusa Fire Station. ,

            Shri Sushil Morakar SFO, of Ponda Fire Station,  and Shri Dilip Bicholkar of Vasco Fire Station. won first the first and second prizes  in tug of war completion.

            Apart from this the event of annual sport meet was also organized in three central, north, and south zones in the sport disciplines’ of Cricket ,Volly ball, and Foot ball etc the Central Zone excelled all three disciplines of games.

Goa to host Swimmathon 2018. Official National Selection Trials for Open Water Swimming to be conducted on Sunday, 25 February, 2018

Panjim, 25th February, 2018: Goa Tourism announced its official support for the Square Off Sports’ sixth edition of Swimmathon, to be held on 25th February, 2018 at Colva Beach in South Goa. The Hon’ble Minister for Tourism & Sports, Govt. of Goa, Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar, will grace the event as the Chief Guest.

Swimmathon, accredited by Swimming Federation of India (SFI) is the Official National Selection Trials for Open Water Swimming in India, with both the men and women winners of the 10 KM and 5 KM races will represent India at the FINA World Championships and other international events like Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in 2018. Lending added credibility and athletic prowess, Mr. Virdhawal Khade, 2014 Asian Games Bronze medalist and Arjuna Awardee, will represent Swimmathon as the brand ambassador.

This year, Swimmathon has announced the highest cash prize in Indian Open Water Swimming history with a total cash purse of around Rs. 4 lakh. The winners of 10KM races and 5KM races in both Male and Female categories will win Rs. 50,000 each and Rs. 25,000 each respectively. In addition, the winners will also get gift hampers from sponsor brands. The winners of last edition of Swimmathon qualified to represent India in the FINA World Championship held at Russia and the Olympic Qualifiers at Portugal.

“We are extremely thankful to Goa Tourism for extending their support for Swimmathon. Open Sea Swimming is a unique and the youngest addition to Olympic games. With the government massively promoting sports, we are not far from the day when Goa will evolve as the water sports destination and Swimmathon arena will see international participants,” said Shri Ashish Agarwal, Managing Director, Co-founder, Square Off Sports.

The organizers will deploy  lifeguards, complete medical team  and ambulance services on site,  and  complete first aid and medical  facilities  on accompanying boat  to ensure  safety  of the participants.

Panaji: 24th February::: The third edition of the Ketevan World Sacred Music Festival 2018 includes concerts invoking divine consciousness through the art of music, based on harmony and respectful, peaceful co-existence.

NOTICE FOR FOOD BUSINESS OPERATOR

Panaji February 23, 2018 …. The food Safety and Standards Act, mandates the need of a license/registration to operate any food business in the country, and the food business operator found operating without the stipulated license/registration, are dealt under the penal provisions of the Act, which includes a fine up to Rs.5lakhs, and imprisonment for a term which may extend up to six months.

          In view of the above, all the food business operators operating canteens, eateries, food joints and/or supplying food to all educational institutes like school, Higher Secondary Schools, Colleges, Universities, Technical Training Centers as well as food business operators operating in Government offices, private offices, etc. are required to obtain either the registration or license under the food safety and standard Act., failing which penal action shall be applied as per the provisions of law.

          The food business operators are also expected to operate their kitchens as per the hygienic and good manufacturing practices guidelines, stipulated under schedule 4 of the Food Safety Act, 2006.

          All food business operators are hereby requested to obtain License/Registration and to maintain hygiene in their kitchen, failing which action will be imitated as per the provisions of law.

BEST P.E. TEACHER AWARDS TO BE CONFERRED

AADHAAR CARD MUST TO AVAIL SCHEMES

Panaji February 22, 2018 ….  All the beneficiaries availing benefits under any of the schemes implemented by the Directorate of Social Welfare are hereby informed to submit the copy of Aadhar Card for Aadhar based payments under Goa Aadhar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2017.

The applicants are also requested to seed their Bank Account with Aadhar number before March 31, 2018 in order to avail the benefits under the scheme of the Social Welfare Department.

CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING PROGRAMME INAUGURATED

Panaji: February 21, 2018 A five day “Capacity Building Training” programme for Public Library Personnel, organized by the National Mission for Libraries (NML) and Ministry of Culture Government of India under Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF) was inaugurated at Sanskruti Bhavan at Patto in the city recently.

 The five day training programme which has commenced today will continue till February 23, 2018 organized with an intention to introduce sustained development of public library services in India.

Gurudas  Pilarnekar  Director, Directorate of Art & Culture.  Dr.Carlos Fernandes Curator Goa State Central Library, Prof. Uma Kanjilal, Prof and Head, Faculty of Library and Information Sciences, IGNOU and member of Foundation, Shri Anirban Biswas System Manager and Programme Coordinator, CBP, NML, Smt. Sulaksha S. Kolmule Senior Librarian were present on the occasion.

Shri Biswas System Manager and Programme Coordinator, CBP, NML briefed about the objectives of the workshop.

Prof. Kanjilal gave basic knowledge about the Creation on National Virtual Library of India (NVLI). She said the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is aiding an initiative of the Ministry of Culture under the National Mission of Libraries by way of creating a catalogue of libraries across India which apart from books includes artefacts and other resources from libraries, museums, archives, among others, and all this would be done using an open source platform, Koha, making its access, free of cost and which will develop reading habits among people across the country, she added.

Shri Pilarnekar speaking as the Chief guest on the occasion said that the Knowledge is not meant to be preserved and restricted within four walls, instead it should be spread beyond, across the state, country and the world around.
