FINACIAL ASSISTANCE DISBURSED TO DHANGAR FAMILIES

Panaji: March 18, 2018 …   Tourism Minister, Shri Manohar Ajgaonkar handed over cheque amounting to Rs 20 Lakhs to 5 families from the Dhangar community displaced by the Mopa International Airport at a function held at Pernem recently.

         Also a cheque of Rs 5.84,16,111 was given to Shri Devi Satteri Devasthan at Casarvanem in Pernem for having acquired their land by the government to rehabilitate dhangar families.

    Shri Ajgaonkar on the occasion thanked the members of Devasthan for giving land to the Dhangar community .Providing Rehabilitation has been a big relief to the families of Dhangar community he added.

Deputy Collector, Pernem, Shri Sudhir Kerkar informed that 36,800 square meters of land has been acquired at Casarvanem for 14 families belonging to Dhangar community.

  Present on the occasion were Shri Vaibhav Vaze,Technical Officer, Directorate of Civil Aviation ,  Shri Sagun Naik,President of Satteri Devesthan .

TOURISM MINISTER LAUNCHES WORK OF HOT-MIX AT DHARGAL

Panaji: March 17, 2018 Minister for Tourism Shri Manohar Ajgaonkar launched the work for providing hot mix carpet to road at Dadachiwadi Palyewada and Kapni wada in Village Panchayat Dhargal recently.

      Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ajgaonkar informed that the hot mix carpet for a stretch of 11 kms includes NH-17 to RTO office to Dadachiwadi,from Palyewada to Dadachiwadi ,from Dadachi wadi to Kapniwada ,Anati and from chichula to Naryan Salgoankar house.

   Shri Ajgaonkar said that for undertaking any development, cooperation and support of the locals is vital and very important. Shri Ajgaonkar also appealed to the people to support the government in the process of development. Shri Ajgaonkar further said various international projects are coming up such as International Airport at Mopa, International cricket Stadium at Dhargalim which will help in generating employment for the locals youth of Pernem.

VISHWAJIT RANE INAUGURATES LAUNDRY UNIT IN GMC

Panaji, March 16, 2018 … The Minister for Health, Shri Vishwajit Rane inaugurated the laundry unit at Goa Medical College (GMC) today. While speaking on the occasion, Shri Rane said that the facility has been totally outsourced.

He also informed that all the Government health services in the state would be linked to GMC for the purpose of laundry cleaning. “Earlier, there were several complaints with regards the hygiene of the bed sheets etc in the hospital. We will maintain the best hygiene standards. We will continuously upgrade this facility,” he said.

                Present on the occasion were St Cruz MLA, Shri Anthonio Fernandes, St Andre MLA, Shri Francisco Silveira, Dean of GMC, Dr Pradeep Naik, medical superintendent, Dr Shivanand Bandekar, among others.

Panaji: – March 15, 2018 … Tourism Minister, Shri Manohar Ajgaonkar attended the Women’s day celebration programme organised by Kalpatruv Gram Seva Sangh at Dhargal yesterday

On the occasion, Shri Ajgaonkar congratulated all self help group for conducting such programme and said that Women play a great role in everyone’s life without whom we cannot imagine the success of life. Without woman nothing is possible for men, they are basic unit of the society, which make a family, family makes a home, home makes a society. The contribution of a woman therefore is everywhere right from taking birth and giving birth to a child to the care whole life and other areas, he added.

Shri Ajgaonkar further stated that women have excelled in each and every field whether it is politics, sports, entertainment; women are making their presence felt.

Shri Ajgaonkar also on the occasion requested all self help group to cooperate and to be in unity and Government he said has been for implementing various schemes for women such a Griha Adhar ,Ladli Laxmi.

SOUTH DISTRICT CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Margao:  March 14, 2018 … The District Magistrate/District Appropriate Authority, South Goa in Collaboration with the NSS Unit South Goa celebrated the International Women’s Day all across the talukas in South Goa, today.

Street plays as well as rallies were conducted at prominent public places which were attended by the Mamlatdars of the respective talukas as well as representatives of district authority along with the general public in large numbers creating mass awareness about Save the Girl Child.

EFFORTS INITIATED FOR THE WELFARE OF WOMEN-SHRI. VISHWAJIT P. RANE

Panaji: March 13, 2018 ….  Minister for Women and Child Development,  Shri.Vishwajit P. Rane today said that the State Government under the Department of Women and Child development has initiated efforts for the welfare of women community. He said in this context the department is implementing various schemes the benefits of which should be derived by the women.

 Speaking as Chief Guest at the State Level function on Women’s Day celebrated in the city today. The Minister for Women and Child Development appealed to the non Government organizations and the individual to come forward to supplement the efforts of the Government in making available the benefits of the Government schemes at the door steeps of the people. This exercise is he said will go a long way in implementing the schemes of the Government effectively and reap the benefit of the welfare scheme by the needy and deserving people to uplift their living condition.

 Ms Ketaki Parob Gadekar who was the resource person delivered a talk on the topic “Adolescent life challenges”

          Smt.Jyoti Masurkar,Smt.Laxmi Laxman Harwalkar and Smt.Tara Babuso Hadfadkar were felicitated on the occasion for their contribution in social field.

SINHA INAUGURATES SAVITRI PHULA

Margao:  March 12, 2018 …. Governor, Dr Smt Mridula Sinha inaugurated “Savitri Phula” a three days festival for women by women on the occasion of International Women’s Day organised by Ravindra Bhavan, Margao in its campus recently.

While speaking on the occasion Smt Sinha urged women to venture into all fields along with men. Women should not compete with men in the name of equality. They should work in tandem with them to achieve the desired goal. Women have to face a lot many challenges in their life. These challenges could be resolved with due assistance from their counter-part, she remarked.

Extending her wishes to women on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the Governor said women too have been joining the mainstream development of the family as they too have become breadwinner of the house and felt that the Men’s responsibility towards their wards has increased.

MLA, Smt Alina Saldanha speaking on the occasion said it’s the duty of everyone to express love and gratitude towards the contribution of women in the society. Women have the capacity to excel in every field, she added.

Smt. Anjali Sehrawat, IAS, District Magistrate asserted that awareness is the first step towards solution. She urged the society to make every attempt to bring women in limelight, especially those who try to be away from such thing.  The family, society and the Government support is crucial to bring out the best in them and take them to greater heights, she pointed.

This three days festival will have dance, quiz, singing and various competitions and events.

Chairperson, Margao Municipal Council, Smt Babita Angle Prabhudessai and Shri Sai Panandikar, Vice Chairman were amongst those present on the occasion.

MANIPAL HOSPITALS GOA IN ASSOCIATION WITH GUJ OBSERVES ‘INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Panaji: 11th march: World Kidney Day and International Women’s Day in 2018 coincide, thus offering an opportunity to reflect on the importance of women’s health and specifically their kidney health, on the community, and the next generations, as well as to strive to be more curious about the unique aspects of kidney disease in women, so that we may apply those learning more broadly.

 Manipal Hospital Goa (MHG) in association with Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) conducted a special function to commemorate KIDNEY AND WOMEN‘S HEALTH on 7th March 2018 at the hospital conference hall.

 The function began with Dr Shekar Salkar, Chief of Department of Oncology at MHG welcoming the Chief Guest for the day Mrs Pallavi Dempo, Executive Director of Dempo Industries Private Limited and the other delegates. Mr Kishor Naik Goankar , President of Goa Union of Journalists [GUJ] addressing the audience from the podium expressed satisfaction that MHG is looking beyond only treating the sick and creating awareness on important health related issues and providing yeomen service to the Goan Population with high end super speciality tertiary care. He had special words of praise for Dr Shekar Salkar who conducts regular health awareness talks reaching out to distant villages. Dr Madhav Sanzgiri, Consultant Urologist was also present on the dais.

 Dr Amol Mahaldar Consultant Nephrologist and Transplant Physician at Manipal Hospitals Goa, made a brief presentation on Women and Kidney disease highlighting the increasing prevalence of Kidney disease in women especially related to Hypertension and Diabetes as well as diseases complicating Pregnancy. Dr Mahaldar underscored the importance of early detection and timely access to treatment options.

 Next on agenda was the felicitation of Women achievers’ beginning with Mrs Pallavi Dempo, a successful business Woman, Educationist and philanthropist felicitated by Dr Shekar Salkar. Mrs Dempo then felicitated the other prominent women professionals including senior journalist and activist Ms Jyoti Dhond and High Court Advocate Winnie Coutinho, both of whom encouraged fellow women to look after their health and adopt healthy life style. Dr Savita Sanzgiri, Consultant Anaesthesiology was felicitated for her 16 years of work in caring for over 10000 Anaesthesia for Kidney and related procedures.

 The highlight of the event was the Felicitation of Women who have fought Kidney disease and come out victorious. Mrs Kiran Singbal, working woman and mother has been on Peritoneal Dialysis and enjoys life to the fullest including family vacations despite being on dialysis for over six years. Mrs Sreemathy Sarma has continued her passion for art and paintings despite doing thrice weekly dialysis since 2010, she has had a stupendous one thousand haemodialysis in the eight years since. Mrs Sarma has been on a waitlist for receiving a kidney in Chennai for more than 6 years and hoped that Manipal Hospital Goa will soon be able to have such a facility making Transplants accessible in Goa. While praying for a speedy recovery of Honourable CM Manohar Parrikar, she thanked Hon CM and Hon Health Minister for the DDSSY Scheme due to which she is able to undergo Dialysis at Manipal Hospitals Goa, but fervently appealed to both the Chief Minister and Health Minister to give solace to hundreds like her waiting for Transplant and the many new faces that she sees in the Manipal Hospital Dialysis room every week by taking necessary steps in Goa.

 The last to be felicitated was the courageous Dr Hemangini Patel from Ponda who despite being a busy professional and a mother to an eight year old came forward to donate one kidney for her sister Devayani. Dr Hemagini shared her experience with the audience and also joined Mrs Sarma is hoping that Kidney Transplants and indeed all Organ Transplant will be available at Goa very soon.

 The Chief Guest Mrs Pallavi Dempo personally interacted with all the Women who were felicitated. She appreciated the determination and courage shown by the women, especially the ones who have conquered Kidney ailments each on their special way. Mrs Dempo said she supports all endeavours to help the cause of women in Goa and indeed everywhere

 On this special occasion Manipal Hospitals goa introduced at hands of the Chief Guest, a “Wellness Women’s Screening Package”, priced at Rs. 1,299/- which includes CBC [complete Blood count], ESR [Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate], Urine Routine Examination, Ultrasound Abdomen & Pelvis, PAP Smear, Creatinine, Gynaecology Consultation, Diet Consultation & Yoga Consultation.  Therefore all Owners/masters of the barges, passengers launches, ferry boats, tindels of fishing trawlers and operators of the mechanized and non mechanized crafts, including the tourist boats, cruise boats, etc. plying in river Mandovi are herby cautioned to keep a sharp lookout, go slow and if necessary stop at safe distance so as not to cause any hindrance during the above period and strictly adhere to the on the spot instructions issued by the patrolling boats stationed at the site. 

Shigmotsav Parade held in Panaji

Panaji: 10th March 2018::: The 2018 annual Shigmotsav parade in Panaji was a mix of traditional costumes, traditional art forms, larger-than-life-floats, loud music and flashy colours.

After the successful Carnival parade, the Panaji Shigmotsav float parade was held on the new route from the Science Centre, Miramar, to the Harley Davidson showroom so as to ensure smooth traffic flow in the heart of the city.

Various folk dances were performed by locals like the Ghode-Morni, Talgadi, Rommatamel and Fugdi to the traditional beats of the dhols. huge floats enacted with Hindu mythological scenes were a part of the shigmotsav float parade which were witnessed by thousands of enthusiasts who participated in the float parade from all over the state.

The festivities weren’t just a riot of loud music and colours, it was also a celebration of tradition – from costumes, to music and dance

The Shigmo parades gives all a chance to get a glimpse at the Goan life depicted through elaborate folk performances by men and women dancing tirelessly in processions along with the parade. Traditional folk dances and performances of mythological scenes will be the major highlight of this year’s parades

The two-week long festivities which started from march 3rd would be held across Goa till March 17, 2018 for which Goa Tourism taking efforts to make elaborate preparations for the Shigmo parade during the two-week celebrations at various locations. Tourism Department is confident that the Shigmo festival will be bigger and better this year.

Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar said that lot of efforts were taken by the tourism department to see that all things were put in place for the shigmotsav parades which were held at various parts of the state

Nilesh Cabral, MLA and Chairman of State-owned Goa Tourism Development Corporation Limited said that this year, a spectacular display of Goan ethnicity and mythology will be on show, along with dance performances by artistes in traditional costume from rural areas of the State.

Earlier the Shigmotsav parade had started from Ponda on 3rd of march which was followed by Margao on March 4, Sanguem on March 6, Vasco and Sanquelim on March 7, Valpoi on March 8, Bicholim on March 9 and while shigmotsav float parade was held today in Panjim.

The float parade at Mapusa, Pernem, Canacona, Quepem, Curchorem, Cuncolim and Dharbandora will also be held from March 11 to March 17.

recently Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) Chairman Nilesh Cabral had also convened a meeting along with all other officials and representatives from the government, Goa police, traffic police, and municipal bodies in discussing the preparations for Shigmo in the state.

The government this year spend Rs 1.88 crore on parades at 15 locations across the state between March 3 to March 17.

The government has allocated Rs 6 lakh each as prize money for the Panaji, Margao, Vasco, Mapusa and Ponda float parades and Rs 4 lakh each for the floats in Quepem, Bicholim, Valpoi, Canacona, Curchorem, Cuncolim, Sanguem, Pernem, Sakhali, while for the Dharbandona parade, Rs 3.50 lakh has been allocated
