HEALTH MINISTER VISITS DENTAL COLLEGE BAMBOLIM

Panaji: April 14, 2018 …. Health Minister Shri Vishwajit Rane paid visit to Goa Dental College and held a meeting with the HOD of Goa Dental College to acquaint himself about Staff issues and Departmental functioning in Dental College Bambolim recently.

Dr.Ida de Noronha de Ataide, Dean of Goa Dental College, Dr. Manisha Khorate, HOD of Oral Medicine, Diagnosis and Radiology, Dr. Steven Rodrigues, HOD of  Pedodontics, Dr. Nandini Kamat, HOD of Orthodontics, Dr. Jyoti Rao, HOD of Periodontics, Dr.Vikas Dhupar, HOD of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Meena Aras, HOD of Prorthodontics, Dr. Anita Kama,t HOD of Community Dentistry, and Dr. Anita Spadigam, HOD of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology were present for the meeting.

          Shri Rane during his visit also inspected all the wards and attended to the grievances of students and patients. He also directed the concerned authorities to provide latest equipments immediately.

NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY WEEK IN APRIL 2018

Panaji: April 14, 2018  … The 29th National Road Safety Week 2018 will be observed from April 23 to 30, 2018. The theme of this year is “Sadak Suraksha –Jeevan Raksha”.

it is decided to give all the stakeholders an opportunity to take part in concerted action for the cause “Road Safety Week”  which is observed through out the country every year.  

TRAFFIC POLICE CONDUCTS SPECIAL DRIVE AGAINST DRUNKEN DRIVING

Panaji: April 13, 2018  … Special drives against drunken driving are being conducted at various locations throughout the State of Goa to curtail the menace of Drunken Driving and other traffic violations and prevent Motor Vehicle (M.V). accidents and fatalities.

           The Inspector General of Police has issued orders to conduct joint special drives at various main junctions in the State. The main objective is to check  M.V violations and other offences related to crime as a number of fatal accidents have taken place in which local and foreigners have lost their precious lives. 

          One such special drive was undertaken jointly by Traffic Police and District Police of both the districts with the assistance of IRBn on April 3, 2018 at Siolim Bridge and Old Market Circle Margao, wherein a number of motorists were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol. Apart from issuing M.V. Challan, and the driving licence of these violators were confiscated and forwarded to concerned ADT for suspension as per the directions of the Supreme Court of India Committee on Road Safety.

          The department has plans to conduct several such joint special drives on regular basis. All the citizens particularly the young people are requested to drive/ride safely and responsibly.

FDA WARNS FOOD BUSINESS OPERATORS AND FRUIT VENDORS TO REFRAIN FROM USE OF HARMFUL CHEMICALS

 Panaji: April 12, 2018  …  Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration, (FDA) has come across instances wherein agricultural chemicals like Ethapone, Etherel etc. are used to ripen fruits like mango, banana etc. and that such practice is commonly adopted during the festival season, when the demand of fruits is on the higher side.

In view of such mal-practice FDA has strictly warned all the food business operators (FBO) dealing in trade of fruits to refrain from use of such harmful chemicals for Artificial ripening of Fruits. Furthermore the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) have come out with an advisory wherein the use of Ethapone, Carbide etc. for artificial ripening is strictly prohibited and hence FDA will engage in special drives  to check for use of such chemical and any vendor found using such chemicals or is found in possession of such chemicals will be dealt with seriously as per the penal provision of law.   

         The FSSAI has permitted artificial ripening by use of Ethylene gas at a concentration up to 100 ppm depending on the crop, variety  and maturity through ethylene gas chambers which are licensed/registered under the Food Saftey and Standard Act 2006 FDA further informed. 

SANJAY CENTRE ORGANIZES ART AND PRINTING EXHIBITION ON APRIL 9

Panaji: April 11 2018  …. Sanjay Centre for Special Education in association with its Curchorem and Vasco centre’s organised Art and Painting Exhibition cum Sale at Kala Academy. The exhibition will be inaugurated will be inaugurated on April 9, 2018 at 10.00 a.m at the hands of Art and Culture Minister Shri Govind  Gaude and in the presence of Prominent artist Dr. Subhodh Kerkar, Smt. Harshada Kerkar and Shri Mahesh Vengurlekar, Principal, Art and Culture. The exhibition will open from April 9 to 12, 2018 from 10.00 a.m to 7.00 p.m for general public. Income from sale of painting will be given to the students-artists a to   support him/her family.

Shri Guruprasad Pawaskar, Chairman, Sanjay Centre for Special Education has requested the general public to visit the art and painting exhibition to support the students.  

SUPREME COURT COMMITTEE ON ROAD SAFETY SEEKS TO CURTAIL TRAFFIC VIOLATION

Panaji: April 10, 2018  … In regard to curtail the increasing number of road accidents and fatalities the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety has as issued directions to suspend the Driving License for a period of not less than 3 months of the drivers/riders committing following traffic violation such as driving/riding at an excessive speed (over-speeding), jumping of red light traffic signal, carrying overload in goods carriage, carrying persons in goods carriage, drunken driving/riding and using mobile phone while driving/ridding.

 In order to ensure strict compliance of these directions, Goa Police apart from issuing/compounding M.V. Challan for the above traffic violation  confiscates the Driving License of the defaulter under  due acknowledgement and is forwarded to the concerned Assistant Director of Transport recommending suspension of the same.

 The motorists are therefore requested to drive/ride safely and responsibly.

MEETING ON NATIONAL FOOD SECURITY ACT HELD AT PANAJI

Panaji, April 9, 2018 … A meeting of North Goa District Level Vigilance Committee on National Food Security Act 2013 and Goa Food Security (Grievance Redressal Mechanism, Transparency and Accountability) Rules, 2017 was held today at the North Goa Collectorate, Panaji to ensure smooth and fair execution of National Food Security Act 2013 in a state. The meeting chaired by North Goa Collector Smt. Nila Mohanan, IAS discussed various issues related to smooth functioning of the committee. This was the first meeting held of newly constituted committee.

Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Shri. Mahesh Corjuenkar briefed the gathering regarding aim and objective of National Food Security Act 2013 wherein measures are taken by Government to ensure proper distribution of food grains to beneficiaries. This Act primarily aims to give affordable food, enabling people to live dignified life. Ration cards under National Food Security is issued to people in 15 categories like beggars, Destitute, Transgender, HIV patients etc.

Meeting discussed upon extension of coverage of National Food Security in the state wherein members of the committee dealt with issues like implementation of provisions as well as awareness and enforcement mechanism of NFSA. The meeting also discussed cases of complaints regarding denial of food grains, malpractices at fair price shops, issues relating to ration cards. Distribution of food grains to destitute.

Asst. Director Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and other officials of various Departments were present for the meeting.

POSTER COMPETITION FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN

Panaji:April 8, 2018  …  Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services as a prelude to the National Fire Service Day on April 14, 2018. The National Theme for the year is “Fire Loss is National Loss- Let us adopt Fire Safety Measures”.

          As a part this awareness campaign a Poster Competition is organized for the Primary and Middle School Children of the State on April 8, 2018. The competition is divided into two groups, Group I (7-10 years) – Topic “Safe Fire Unsafe Fire” and Group II (11-14 years) – Topic “Fire Accidents can be Prevented”.

          A penalty of Rs.2,00,000 will be levied for registration of on-going Real Estate Project from May 1, 2018 to July 1, 2018.

HEALTH SECTOR GETS DUE IMPORTANCE: RANE

Margao:  April 7, 2018 …. Minister for Health, Shri Vishwajit Rane maintaining that the health sector has been receiving utmost importance from the Governemnt to ensure that goans get the maximum benefit of all health facilities said free insulin will be provided through every health centres to patient suffering from diabetic.

Shri Rane speaking after inaugurating Mega Health Camp in presence of MLA, Shri Churchill Alemao organised jointly by Directorate of Health Services, Goa Medical College, Goa Dental College and Mukta Opticians at the premises of Sacred Heart of Jesus High School, Carmona today said that Goa is the first State in the Country to start the Cardiac Ambulance service and added that five Cardiac Ambulances have 21 Doctors working 24×7. Margao too will be provided with one such Cardiac Ambulance, he said.

The Health Minister informed that the South Goa District Hospital which is in the completion stage will cater for the entire South District. All facilities including cath lab and ICU will be made available. The 12 bedded Benaulim Health Centre project work, as promised, will start soon, he said.

This Mega Health camp is not only limited for the day but the patients detected through such camps and referred to Goa Medical College, Bambolim will be given priority treatment, Shri Rane said.

Stating that the South Goa District Hospital will be named as Hospicio Hospital Shri Rane said the present premises will be used as training centre once it starts functioning from the new premises. Dialysis Centres are opened at Navelim, Mapusa, Balli, Valopi and Ponda as it is observed that there is a rise in patients for dialysis day by day, he pointed.

Shri Churchill Alemao urged people to make the best use of 108 ambulance services for all medical emergencies which provide instant primary medical aid. The health sector is developing rapidly and doing well in the State, he said.

Zilla Panchayat Member, Smt Nelly Rodrigues; Director, Directorate of Health Services, Dr Sanjay Dalvi; Dean, Goa Dental College, Dr Ida De Ataide; Medical Supritendant, Hospicio Hospital, Dr Ira Almeida; Dr Rajnanda Dessai were among those prominent persons present on the occasion.
