GOVERNOR TO LAUNCH PRADHAN MANTRI JAN AROGYA YOJANA ON SEPT 23

Panaji, September 22, 2018 … The Governor will launch Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)on September 23, 2018 at 11.30 am at Dr. S. Z. Quasim Auditorium, NIO, Dona Paula.

Union Minister of State for Aayush (IC) Shri Sripad Naik, Minister for Public Work Department Shri Ramkrishna Dhavlikar, Minister for Town and Country Planning Shri Vijay Sardesai, Minister for Revenue Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Art and Culture Shri Govind Gaunde, Minister for Health Shri Vishwajeet Rane, Member of Parliament Shri Narendra Sawaikar, Member of Rajyasabha, Shri Vinay Tendulkar and others will grace the function.

State Health Agency has been created under National Health Mission/Goa State Health Society. Total of 36539 families Rural 21371 and Urban: 15168 are Eligible for PMJAY for Goa. List of all these eligible population is available at respective Panchayats and Health Units under Directorate of health services.

Currently to start with 4 Hospitals i.e. GMC, Both District Hospitals and Sub District Hospital, Ponda has been already empanelled and are ready for launch. Subsequently other Public hospitals as well as Private Hospitals will be registered and empanelled.

All the 447 procedures under DDSSY will be also available at empanelled private hospitals under PMJAY at same rates prescribed under DDSSY. Accordingly final package list consist of 1509 and all these packages will be available under PM-JAY at public hospitals.  Arogya Mitra been identified and trained for all 4 Empanelled Hospitals.

Arogya Mitra is the first point of contact for the beneficiaries to avail any services at empanelled hospitals & will be available at DDSSY/PMJAY kiosk at these hospitals. Beneficiaries to contact Arogya Mitras even for registration and generating E-Card or Golden record.  

TOURISM MINISTER DISTRIBUTES SANCTION LETTERS OF LADLI LAXMI

Panaji, September 22, 2018 …. Minister for Tourism Shri Manohar Alias Babu Azgaonkar distributed sanction letter of Ladli Laxmi Scheme to 30 beneficiaries from Pernem Taluka at a function held at Pernem recently.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Azgaonkar said irrespective of income, scheme like Ladli laxmi have eased the financial burden.The financial help is also to ensure that a girl´s marriage is not be a burden on parents he said  

Shri Azgaonkar also praised Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar for launching various schemes like Griha adhar, Dayanand Social Security scheme and also appealed to pray for the speedy recovery of the Chief Minister.Various upcoming projects like Ayush Hospital, International Stadium, Mopa airport, Ravindra Bhavan will help in generating employment to the locals of Pernem he added.

Miss Shradha Mashelkar,Chairperson Pernem Municipal Council ,Smt Sangita Gaonkar, Sarpanch Ozarim also spoke on the occasion.

HELPLINE TO MONITOR ILLEGAL SAND MINING

Panaji, September 21, 2018 …. The Collectorate North Goa has set up helpline at North Goa Collectorate Office for redressal of complaints pertaining to illegal sand mining.

The special control room has been set up by the North Goa Collectorate,     on first floor, the phone numbers are 2225383/2225083. The helpline which is set up for disaster management purpose will also function as helpline for the purpose.

This is with reference to the directions issued by High court of Bombay with regards to monitoring of sand mining and illegal sand extraction by the state Government.

Nature has made them special,” said Dr (Smt) Mridula Sinha who was the Chief Guest at the concluding function of the ‘Girls in Aviation Day’ organized by the Women in Aviation International India Chapter and Lockheed Martin India, in Panaji recently. The Governor said, “A woman is blessed in a special way to nurture the family and contribute to society and the country.”

 “Today, the sky is the limit for women and women are going places,” said the Governor stressing that equal opportunities, to education, health etc, should be provided in society to all.

 Women in Aviation International (WAI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields and interests.

Present on the occasion were President, Women in Aviation International India Chapter, Smt. Radha Bhatia, Chief Executive, Lockheed Martin India, Phil Shaw and APD Goa Airport, Shri. B.C.H Negi.

REGIONAL CYBER SECURITY WORKSHOP HELD

Panaji ::: September 21, 2018 … The Regional Cyber Security workshop for West Zone was inaugurated by Dr. Kushal Pathak, Deputy Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India, New Delhi today at ESG, Panaji.

The three day long workshop was organized by Chief Electoral Officer, Altinho Goa and was attended by Chief Information Security Officer, Officers from Election Commission of India and District Election Officers and Chief Electoral Officers and Officials officials from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Daman and Diu, Dadara Nagar Haveli, Madha Pradesh and Goa.

In his key note address, Dr Kushal Pathak, enlightened the various cyber threats for personal and official data by using and sharing social media, emails and internet. He said, keeping in mind the various incidents of data stealing and hacking of websites of several organizations around the world, this workshop will sensitize the election staff for safety of data and also create awareness about the new communication tactics.

He said personal data security is more important in this modern technical era, one can assesses manipulate or delete your data from any part of the world and therefore it is time to sense of urgency to learn all of us to understand and take precaution and measures for safety of our personal data.

Shri Kunal in his welcome address said that the Election data is more important and larger than the data of ‘Aadhar’. He said data contains lots of attributes which can affect privacy of citizen. He pointed that the Election Staff from DEO, CEO and ECI play a very important role in maintaining the data safe. Accumulation of data of eligible voters of the country is important for the Election Commission, but at the same time Shri Kunal stressed that the workshop will go long way to keep our own data safe.

We all are playing very important role for the safety of data.  The data is linked with the security of the country, so all of us have the enormous responsibility to protect it from hacking or theft,” Shri Kunal added. 

The IT experts, in various sessions, shared information on various topics and explained about cyber security. Dr. A. Nagarathna, National Law School of India University, Bangalore explained what is cyber crime, Provisions of Cyber Laws and its applicability on Election Process while Shri Surender Kumar Verma, Scientist B CERT explained current scenario of Cyber Attacks, Types of attack and the Legal Framework of Cyber Security in India.

DHS To LAUNCH CHANGING DIABETES BAROMETER PROGRAMME

Panaji, September 20, 2018 … The Directorate of Health Services, under the National Non- Communicable Disease Control Programme is launching the “Changing Diabetes Barometer (CDB) Programme” along with the Novo Nordisk Education Foundation on   September 20, 2018 at 10.00am at Dinanath Mangueshkar Auditorium, Kala Academy, Panaji.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shri Vishwajit Rane said that “Unless we take proper care to create mass awareness about diabetes and it’s complications amongst common public and initiate proper treatment, it will pose a greater challenge to the individual, their family and society as a whole. A collaborative approach involving a Public-Private-Partnership is the need of the hour for prevention of diabetes through early detection, diagnosis and management. We are hopeful that with the rollout of the CDB programme, we will be able to ensure improved outcomes for people with diabetes through better access to quality care. Moreover, also raise awareness about diabetes and related risks in a large cross-section of society he added.

Under the programme, in phase one ,5 Community Diabetes Centres (CDCs) will be set up for testing and treatment of diabetes namely at Goa Medical College , North Goa District Hospital, South Goa District Hospital, Sub District Hospitals Ponda and Cottage Hospital Chicalim .At present, free insulin is provided at all the Government Hospitals. Trainings on the latest advancements in diabetes treatment will be provided to all the medical practitioners. Diabetes educators will be appointed for at-home counseling and guidance. ANM workers will be trained to make home visits for diabetes testing and relevant diabetes education, IEC material will be provided to all.

Diabetic Mellitus patients are requested to avail the benefits of the programme for their effective management & prognosis with lifestyle management, which will be provided at the identified Health Centers under Directorate of Health Centre and Goa Medical College. 

APPLICATION INVITED FOR NARI SHAKTI PURUSKARS

Panaji, September 20, 2018 …. The Department of Women and Child Development will celebrate international Women’s Day  by facilitating eminent women, organizations and institutions with National award called “Nari Shakti Puruskars”.

 The award “Nari Shakti Puruskars” will consist of 40 Nari Shakti Puruskars and will be conferred each year from the year 2018 on March 8 on the occasion of International Women’s Day (IWD).  The award consists of a Certificate and cash award which will be given to eminent or outstanding Institutions or organizations and individuals.

 The Eligibility Criteria for Nomination are as follows -awards will be  open to all individuals and Institutions. In case of Individual category, the awardee must be at least 25 years of age on the last date of receipt of nomination.  If the applicant is an institution, it should have worked in the relevant field for at least 5 years. The applicant should not be a recipient of the same award earlier (including Stree   Shakti  Puraskars as were awarded by the Ministry) The Nari Shakti Puruskar may be awarded for outstanding work, preferably in exceptional circumstances, to individuals/groups/institutions /NGOs, etc.  in the areas of economic and social empowerment of women.

 The Nari Shakti Puruskar may be awarded to individuals/groups/NGOs institutions etc. who encouraged women to participate in decision making roles encourage women’s skill development in traditional and non – traditional    sectors, facilitated basic amenities for rural women, promoted women in non-traditional sectors like science and technology, sports, art, culture, etc.

The eligible eminent women, organizations and institutions may submit their applications in the prescribed downloaded format available on the website of the Ministry of Women and Child Development at http://www.wcd.nic.in complete in all respects along with enclosures in the office of the Directorate of Women & Child Development, Old Education Bldg., 2nd Floor, 18th June Road, Panaji on or before September 30, 2018.  Applications received after the last date will not be considered.

PRACTICE FIRING BY NAVAL COAST BATTERY ON SEPTEMBER 24

Panaji, September 19, 2018  … The Naval Coast Battery, Mormugao will carry out practice firing of 40/60 Anti Air Guns from Mormugao, Headland, Sada between 9.00 a.m to 12.00 p.m.  on    September  24, 2018 . The Danger Zone lies within an area bounded by 200o  to 260o  from Mormugao Headland Flag Staff position up to a distance of 10 Nautical miles to seaward and up to height of 6,100 mtrs.

            The shipping, harbor craft, other vessels and general public are therefore informed to keep a distance from the above area for safety purpose on above mentioned period.  

GOA SET TO HAVE A SMART E-WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Panaji, September 18, 2018 … Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) announced that Goa will soon have a smart and intelligent E-waste management system for handling Electronic Waste generated in the State. This announcement was made by Mr.Sanjit Rodrigues, Managing Director, GWMC at the launch of the Project ‘E-Waste Management Plan for the State of Goa’, held at Hotel Varanda Do Mar, Miramar, by GWMC and its implementing agency, Toxics Link on  September 5, 2018.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Sanjit Rodrigues emphasized the need for improved awareness, robust and efficient collection mechanism supported by an online system. He said, “we will come up with a model system in Goa, which can be replicated all over the country’. He further stressed on the need to put a stop to the e waste flows to informal sector, given its hazardous nature of processing.

Elaborating on the issue, Shri Satish Sinha, Associate Director, Toxics Link said “a robust e waste management will enable consumers to dispose off their E waste at a click of a button and track it down, thus bringing in complete transparency.”

E-waste is recognized as one of the most toxic waste streams globally. With the increasing consumption of Electronics in Goa, E-waste is also on a rise and can be a cause of serious concern for the state if not managed well. This 2-year project, to set up a sustainable e-waste management system in the State, will be implemented by Toxics Link that will assess the quantum of this waste generated and also device a model for collection, storage, safe transportation and disposal of E-waste in the State.

The project team stated that surveys to map the E-waste generation patterns and volumes have been initiated.  The project launch was applauded by all and there was optimism and hope in moving towards a sustainable solution for e-waste issues in the State.

The project launch was attended by all the major stakeholders, including government departments, private companies, Industry Associations and civil society organizations.

Panaji :: 18th Sepetember 2018 :::: The Sunday Evening Quiz Club (SEQC), in association with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), will be hosting ‘Lights, Camera, Question‘, a quiz on the magic of movies, on Sunday September 23 at Maquinez Palace, Panjim at 3.00 p.m.

The quiz will be replete with visual, audio and video content, and will cover all aspects of cinema, Indian and international. It will be conducted by Aniruddha Sen Gupta, a Mastermind India finalist.

The quiz will commence with a written preliminary round at 3pm, followed by onstage finals. Participation is invited for the quiz in teams of two. The quiz is open to all, and entry is free.
